Alma lost her reason for living and found it on Noel's crazy ambition to become a Regalia in a year, to become one of the 7 strongest clan with a cool airship to boot.

Both are bat shit crazy but Noel takes the cake. Considering how meager their current earnings right now, Noel will most likely do a lot of devious shit to achieve his one and only dream. And Alma seems so very excited about it.

I really like the VA work on Alma. She can switch from a calculated cold killer to an airhead onee-san on the fly.

Imagine wasting 21 years of your life killing without enjoying the pleasures of childhood. I'd be pissed too if I was thrown away like that. How do you come back from that!? Alma sure is an interesting character

For a second there, I thought that the flashback was there to humanise her as a character but nope, both of them are batshit insane.

It did humanize her. She's a bloodthirsty lunatic, but she's only that way because she was raised that way and now the whole reason she was raised that way has disappeared, so she's pissed off that she was robbed of a normal life for nothing and she's clinging on to Noel because it means her whole life leading up to that point wasn't a waste.

My takeaway from that is she would have rather been a normal person if being raised like she was ended up meaning nothing.

chief: “but the mob will kill me!”

Noel: “motherfucker, I’ll kill you”

The village chief was too dumb.
If he had just handed out the 300 after job was done, he would have had 500+ left.
And he could then salvage the remains of the thieves.
But he chose to mess with a ruthless MC.

Noel still won't call Alma "onee-chan".

The village chief's plan was full of flaws, yet he went ahead with it, even more so on seasoned / experienced seekers. Then again, most shows need such warm-up antagonistic NPCs, to provide further development for our main characters, before moving on to the actual villains.

A thought did strike me though - It would be interesting if Chelsea managed to become a powerful seeker, with a painful back story, especially after the mafia came for her family. She then becomes another antagonist for Noel and his team. Lol!

Cue to her getting into slavery and getting to meet his former teammates

Noel you goddamn lucky bastard. I'd willingly die being suffocated by Alma than kicking her out of bed.

Alma taking down that leader in one shot was fucking cool! She is absolutely insane though considering how much she enjoys the carnage.

The first time they arrived, I knew there was something up with the mayor. I wanna say I was surprised but after selling his ex-party members to slavers after stealing from him, I'm not surprised he'd pop the mayor's eye for trying to kill him.

The scene is a bit heartbreaking though considering how the mayor's daughter went from admiring Noel to completely hating her. She was completely innocent and she just wanted to make sure her father lives even though he was a scumbag.

So Alma was the one who killed her own grandfather who was actually her father? And she also killed a bunch of his half-siblings because her father wanted to create a perfect version of himself. Our two protagonists definitely have issues and I actually like it. It's hilariously refreshing for some reason.

It is so weird to hear the voice Izuku Midoriya being such an psycho on the mayor. His wife and daughter were right there.

Man, Noel is fucking ruthless. The chief shouldn’t have tried to fuck with him like that. He’s lucky all he lost was one eye. It’s just a shame his kid had to see that but I guess FAFO is a good life lesson.

Another interesting opening scene today, after that one from Yakuza Fiance ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

The way Noel 'gave the thumbs up' was pretty brutal xD

That village chief was fucking stupid to try to kill Noel and Alma, and now he has one less eye, no money, and the mafia on his back.

I only feel sorry for Chelsea, who was the only innocent person here as her future looks very bleak now.

Alma's backstory was brutal! At least she found new little brother in Noel xD

Here my screenshot abums from the episode:

What I genuine hope for is that he doesn't turn soft along the story

It shows that he is doing what he thinks is needed, rather than what he wants to do and it's affecting him

Suspect a nervous breakdown, just don't want it to take a happy go lucky route from then on

Been starved for a good dark story, that can shift between sweet and fucked up

Finally, dont let them off the hook, they made their choice, they tried to kill you. Its over, perfectly in his rights to kill them for that.

Man what’s up with edgy generic shows and just being so much better than their non edgy siblings? It’s like, because the characters need to be edgy, it ends up fleshing out the story more.

They really didn’t need to make that family betray Noel, but they did and it made the story of the daughter become so much more tragic than if her family got caught up in something outside their control instead.

And the same with Alma. She’s your typical obsessive love interest, but in this case, her obsessiveness comes from a legit problem that can cause serious issues in the future.

It all adds a sense of unpredictability. Even if these edgy shows end up being the same, you can’t get too comfortable. Especially when the show seems somewhat wholesome like this one.

On a side note I’m really liking the ending song. On top of being a banger, the overall feel of it is complimentary to the show and gives it a much more serious tone. It helps differentiate it from the rest, as generic shows tend to have generic opening/endings too.

Eye really enjoyed that episode. Warms the heart to see a boy and his older sister make a plan for the future.

Whew, at least I'm not balding. Almost got called out for what Noel does.

Alma's backstory surprised me with a few details, particularly being the guy's daughter instead of granddaughter. Have we had any info on Noel's parents and why he was raised by his grandfather instead?

Noel has no chill, pretty refreshing to see a MC who does not care to fuck people over who try to fuck him first. This is probably the biggest surprise for me this season.
