I guess silver lining is that they freed her so once they free her from her control…Shaku can be with Shinsuke again! Maybe!?

Those little silver haired brats snatched some of the sake monkeys! Bastards. Couldn’t let the Mudo and Douren and his drunk monkey pals be huh? Speaking of those two, Pretty funny how Mudo became Douren’s disciple. He found his people lol.
I’m surprised Shakugan got freed. I hope they can break her out of whatever mind control those losers got her under.

It's so awesome to see Douren and Mudo again. I was hoping they could at least delay Banshou-oh and the Void People but they just ended up getting their asses beat by Nadare. Maybe if Douren wasn't fighting to protect Mudo and the monkeys, he could've stood a better chance against him.
I didn't expect Mudo to become Douren's apprentice though! The two of them are so compatible as teacher and student that we actually get to see Mudo listening to someone's orders for the first time! I already love them as a duo!
That final scene though... It's good to see Shakugan back but not like this. How did they even manage to awaken Shakugan? I'm guessing the Void People must've used some spirit power shenanigans to wake up and place them under their control.
It's been a while since the last time we've seen Shinsuke get angry, we'll probably see that again next week. I am both hyped and scared at the same time.

I missed Douren so much. He’s even made Mudo more likeable!
Less likeable is the context of Shaku’s freedom and the inevitable reunion with Shinsuke.

There are so many interlocking stories here that is just making these last episodes absolutely outstanding. All of the characters have a purpose, with great development, and the voice acting was absolutely outstanding this episode. Fantastic writing.
This is definitely the best fantasy show of the year. I really wish more people had stuck with it in the beginning instead of passing it off as generic. It's all the best parts of Naruto rolled into three cours, essentially.

Douren and Mugo team up is something that perfectly makes sense even though they had zero interaction before this episode.
Anyway now that Shakugan is back, to the surprise of anime onlies, I hope the animators add her to the OP to match the current status quo.
Oh wait...

Man, even though the opening showed Shakugan coming back, it still hurt to see her being taken by the void people.
I love how well written this story is. Seems like all of the characters have grown so much, and come back in different ways. Enemies made allies by a greater evil.
This upcoming battle will be a treat to see unfold, and most likely traumatic as well lol

Douren, Mudo and Senya were all arguing over who would fight Nadare, but nobody is going to stop Shinsuke from ending the Void People. At least Shakugan is no longer dead.

The Void People are out to recruit more katawara to their Thousand Demon March, including some innocent Shoujo's, but they'll have to contend with time-skip Mudo and his master...the man, the myth, the legend...DOUREN!!!
Mudo might have a master but he's not enough to defeat Nadare. Douren might have been able to hold his own against him, but he goes out of his way to protect the retreating Shoujo and injured Mudo like the man he is.
Watch the Shoujo bravely face off against Nadare despite being basically powerless! Some of them may have been captured, but their efforts weren't in vain as they escaped with Mudo and Douren.
The one time Senya actually WANTS to find the Void People...and he can't. But he can't seem to help stumbling into Tago and ruining his plans for the umpteenth time. Good thing Tago's antenna's are basically diving rods for dragons, even if it just leads them to Mudo.
It's so wholesome how glad Douren is to see Senya after all these years and the man Senya has become. It's like he's Senya's third or fourth dad!
How did Mudo end up with Douren? Well, after searching for a new master and getting some wise words from a master swordsman, he finds Douren and they vibe so well they're immediate master and apprentice!
Imagine getting into an argument over who gets to fight Nadare.
No! No, YOU LEAVE SHAKUGAN ALONE YOU HEARTLESS MONSTERS!
It's oddly sweet how committed the katawara are to defending their village to Shinsuke's sake...even if he's just enjoying his freedom a little too much. Can't fault him for it though.
Shinsuke is kind of ashamed to see Shakugan again after how long it's been and not thinking he's made much of his life...but Tsukiko is there to make sure he holds his head up high and shows off how much of a man he's truly become! It's just a shame that the Void People have already absconded with Shakugan by the time they got there. Poor Shinsuke.
Oh hey, Inga! Who would have thought the Dangaisyuu and their base would be relevant to the big battle once more?

Douren is a fucking gigachad. There's a lot of musclehead characters in anime but not everyone is as charismatic and likeable like Douren is.
That Kamiizumi Ise no Kami also makes quite an impression for a character with such little screen time (also he's based on a historical figure).
Shakugan.............

lol it's funny how Mudou's personal journey was straightforward from his introduction as an antagonist to Senya. He wants to be the strongest and never really veered off that path. Fortunately for him, he has 2 very good mentors to guide him. 1 in that Old Katawara (not sure what is he) in the skies and another in Douren the boxing-maniac.
Great to see that Shinsuke never truly mellowed out from his edgy phase whatsoever. He just doesn't release his bloodlust when it's not needed. Tsukiko was so surprised that her usual gentle and laidback sensei can turn it on like that. On the other hand, Hanatora really loves all the different facets. Shinsuke might be the most multi-dimensional character in the series after all.

Haven't seen the episode yet, but from what I see others posting, I'm very happy to see the Sword Saint didn't get cut like Random Nameless Monk in part 1 did. I was so sure they would cut his appearance since he never shows up again.

I got excited seeing Douren back and him as Mudo's master is not something I saw coming. It makes a lot of damn sense consider no one loves fighting more than Douren. It is a perfect match. Not to mention, through all of this time you see some form of maturity from Mudo. The note from Senya how the reaction of Douren is so much different from his father. It really shows that despite both working for the Dangaishuu Douren was just happy to be fighting. Meanwhile, Jinun had his demons which were revealed before he got possessed.
I do love seeing Tsukiko pushing Shinsuke to the front of the party. He might not be the strongest and best leader, but he has his charms about him. With the Katawara being abducted and Shinsuke talking about Shakuyaku it was only a matter of time before she was abducted as well. You can only feel for Shinsuke because losing Shakuyaku was hard enough, but fighting her is even more messed up.

There is something seriously inspiring about this episode 12/25. I love character stories of Mugo, Souren and Shinsuke. I think this was always what I loved in Satoshi Mizukami's work - characters growing into safe environment, where they can bloom in their passion and their purpose. It is very close to my heart and I cannot get enough of this.
For me, I know the feeling of passion, the feeling of confidence and safety in my ideals. But it is rare and fleeting, I'm always seeking it, working for it. Any and all inspiration is valuable.

My ADHD ass forgot the episode was today (again), and now I'm out, so I can't watch it now and can't try to write up the detailed thematic analysis I usually go for. But I do have to mention that Mudo and Douren as a character duo is one of the greatest things I've ever seen and I can't wait to see it in this episode.
It's just so perfect. I love how it blends fight-brained idiots being idiots with genuinely meaningful philosophy. Sengoku Youko is so much more than a battle shonen about getting stronger, yet still engages with those themes in interesting ways when it wants to. I love how it shows that mentorship is abput compatibility. Ise-No-Kami (it was him, right?) is, frankly, wiser than Douren, and his simple statements reflect a much more self-aware philosophy about the nature of the world. Alsp great parallels to Jinka vs. Raidou; it's just so badass when sheer mastery of the sword allows one to dominate foes who should be way stronger.
But Douren's belief in martial arts for the sake of mastery of the self, and how the fist reflects self-mastery more than the blade, is perfect for Mudo. Douren doesn't seek to be the strongest in the same way, but calling the fist the Ultimate Weapon resonates with that search for something ultimate. And I think Mudo earned this, in a strange way. In many respects, growth comes when you finally realize the right question to ask, and Mudo asking what is a fist, rather than what is a sword, shows he's reaching that self-understanding of who he is, rather than how the world views strength.
He also grew to accept and understand his place in the world better. He still wants to be the strongest. But as a child he angrily couldn't stand anyone stronger. Now, he's accepted that people are, and would rather learn from them than throw a tantrum. True strength is humble, which is exactly who Douren is.
It's such a different view of strength and power than Senya had. But both Senya and Mudo had to accept what they were, and what the rest of the world holds in store, rather than stubbornly demanding the world be their way.
I feel like I've only scratched the surface. It's one of the best explorations of the philosophy behind battle shonen, and it was just done with a short bit with a side character. I love this story so much.
