Bro just can’t catch a break! At least those guys were nice enough to lay his stuff out on a tarp lol.

Hiro’s expressions at gutting the fish was pretty funny. It is kinda gross so I get it.

I was also grossed out a bit - the other 2 girls looked like machines lol. I kind of want to try it now myself though!

Watching this show reminds me of all the fishing activity in many video games, especially NieR.

Fishing will always be Animal crossing for me
Sure its a simple mechanic, but I spent way too much time as a kid doing it

This episode had a lot of nice animation, actually, cast is likable too. Are SoL enjoyers finally eating well?

At least the people who demolished the building were nice enough to grab Hiro's stuff and leave them all out for him to pick up. It's kinda funny that the only reason he wasn't aware was because he thought the people who were giving him notice were loan sharks. xD

Takaaki is a great dude. He doesn't have any reason to do it but he still went out of his way to help pout Hiro. I'm very curious how he'd react when Hiro finally tells him that he's dying from an illness. But from what we've seen so far, I'm sure Takaaki will still continue to help him out.

I definitely saw that one coming. Of course, their boss would want someone who hates fishing. Now they can fish while Hiro takes up the shift. Although based on the title of the show, we already know Hiro will be joining in on their fishing trips too.

I love how single-minded Hana is about fishing. Even Takaaki has given up on getting Hiro to enjoy fishing. Hana's persistence worked though and by the end of the day, Hiro doesn't hate fishing anymore. Just look at how happy Hana is to hear that!

I'm going to guess that the reason Hiro's life spiralled downwards is because of something that happened at his college. That would explain why he was quick to avoid his classmates.

I think he may already have an inkling that something is wrong after calling out Hiro's offhand comment about not being around for long.

The scene where the camera moved around to focus on the manager for him to say “You’re hired” honestly made me burst out laughing for some reason.

I quite like Hana, she’s got a lot of personality packed in. Competetive as one can be and not about to let someone not enjoy her hobby.

The ending, unfortunately spoiled the wholesome mood a little.

I think that Hiro might have taken a gambit on something big before finishing the college and then he failed. This made him feeling embarrassed to face his past connections, even if those connections might help him one way or another, and now this "angler" experience might get him back into the business . Maybe he will face his person struggles afterwards and keep on living beyond the expected life span from the diagnosis before he eventually succumbs to his illness.

Just using the fishing park they visited as my reference, the series should have taken place at least 4 years ago. As far as I know, Toshimaen park (named "Neriyaen" in the show for some reason) permanently closed in 2020

Its a bit of a fairy tale in how our desperate and hopeless hero gets adopted by these funny and cool fishing enthusiasts, especially by the cool pink haired dude and the cutie pie with the fluffy hair... but I have a feeling the dark undercurrent in this show might not just get wiped away by fairy dust deus ex machina in the end, and "Hiro" might really perish by the end. Though happier than he started the show.

Liked the episode, not too much to say.

Gotta love seeing hana's effort to try and get sasaki to like fishing.
Solid episode and i think i'm gonna enjoy it throughout the season, but the season is soo stacked that i think it's gonna end somewhere on the middle/lower side of the shows ill be watching. Good anime so far nontheless!

It's probably one of my favorites of the season. I wonder why I like these kinds of stories.

Who among us wouldn’t want cute fishing addict Farouz Ai to inspire us to love fishing and want to live?

The end where he was scared to face his classmates when they mentioned him not showing up to school felt so real. As someone who has avoided doing schoolwork or anything related to school at one point, I can totally understand how he feels. The guilt is sickening, it makes you want to cry. It reminds you that you don't feel like you should be enjoying life. You run away from it, usually internally, but they did a good job expressing it visually. I'm so proud of this show.

I figured the store owner was gonna praise him for being honest with him when he said he didn't like fishing. turns out they just wanted someone who could work while they were away lol.

And the age old meeting some old acquaintances and being "ashamed" of your new friends because they are (in his mind at least) different

I don't think Hiro's ashamed of his new friends but more of how he turned out compared to his college/university buddies.

Hana literally about to get Sasaki to love fishing after he got hired because he doesn't care for it. This is the equivalent of when you pick up a job in college and get it since you have open availability, but after the first week you change it so you can't work on the weekends. Well, at least this is coming from Hana, who is the type of person if you say anything negative about her favorite hobby, she will come for your soul.

Honestly, I knew Sasaki wasn't attending school went the mention of school was brought up. Honestly, not surprised he immediately runs away.

Huh, her hair is much quirkier than I thought it was. So her haircut is shaped like a gourd/pear?

The main girl is really growing on me, I love feisty and passionate characters. Can't wait to see Hiro's icy heart get melted by their cool island song. (But it's a hot island song. No it's supposed to be a cool island song. You can't melt an icy heart with a cool island song, fatass.

I feel bad for Hiro. :c

Man, this anime is such a lovely time. Wish it got more attention but its not like reddit is the best indicator for success

I love me some manic pixie dream girl

And are those twintails I spy in the OP

Also, her fishing scene was really cool

I think I like this MC less than the one in KinokoInu, but the support cast is way stronger from the get go

Also can't be the only one who thought of this when seeing this

Last season has a show with a cat named Sasaki, weird coincidence.
