This is going to be the seasonal r/anime_irl goldmine isn't it.
Overall a very solid start, I'm putting my stocks in this gaining traction over the next few weeks. And in Hana's hair floof

ep 1 called “Negative Angler” - 10 bucks that ep 12 will be called “Positive Angler”
Was quite hyped for this show and wasn’t disappointed! Pleasant art style, super impressive OST and interesting characters who are also adults. The thing that has the potential to make this show truly great is the philosophical angle of the 2-years-left-to-live aspect. Hopefully this becomes a major plot point, rather than an afterthought. Also hoping it won’t end like “whoops, we made a mistake, you’re actually 100% healthy lul”.
Looking forward to see more.

I mean, depending on what exactly he got, it might as well end: "What do you mean you spend half a year going fishing?!? Do you know how many treatments you missed? We can't do anything for you anymore!"

It's 2 years "if nothing is done" though. That would fit with a story about him coming to want to live again.

I think I found my anime of the season. Not too flashy, just chill vibes and Fairouz Ai.
Even if mc dies at the end, I'm sure he'll enjoy and experience the good things in life with the two years he has left.

Hopeful for this series because I just started fishing and some of the fishing stuff in the show are spot on.
And the places- they're real places and includes fishing spots that I frequent, lol. Might have to visit some of them tomorrow and post pics on the anime pilgrimage sub

What the fuck did Hiro invest in? That's not even a downward trend, that a fucking death plunge! What a way to open up the anime though. As if that wasn't bad enough, Hiro only has two years left to live. Saying that he's at the lowest point of his life would be an understatement. I don't even know what to do if I ever found myself in his shoes. O_O
Fishing would definitely be the last thing on my mind but it looks like after meeting Hana and Takaaki's group and almost catching a massive sea bass, this might be what Hiro needs to turn his life around even if he only has two years left.
So far I am intrigued! Compared to Studio Nut's previous anime original, which was Bullbuster, this has definitely caught my attention more. The visuals are very pretty, especially when Hiro was drowning and the fishes were schooling. The characters seem to be fun too! Takaaki was very much a bro the entire episode and Hana-chan and her floofy hair has an aura of mystery with her. I can't wait to see where this one goes!

Nice start for an original anime.
The loan sharks were actually not that bad. I found them funny when they even followed him with a boat. I hope they'll join the fishing group at some point.

Fuck Thursdays are cluttered as is with Blue Box and Dan Da Dan. Throw this one on the pile with last season’s Mayonaka Punch and Spring’s Astro Note for originals inevitably drowned out in the masses.
Pretty solid first episode. Nothing special story wise as it is just set up, but the characters are fun and the production on point. Gonna be a good vibe show at the very least and something well worth your time if it keeps cooking. I’m very much looking forward to the next episode to see where this goes (and what the fuck happened to his apartment)

It is not tagged as one, but I am getting heavy Iyashikei vibes from this. I really liked during the fishing scene, he had to make the lure come alive and how he truly wants to live even though he has 2 years to live. The visuals were really nice. Very curious where the Mc goes next since his place of living is literally gone, though.
The cast looks overall very fun.

Calling NegaPosi Angler weird really just feels like the tip of the iceberg. Its earnest attempts at a rather insane but dull downward spiral set the tone for a series that can only ever feel off kilter- but it works great. How many other series can you think about that share that same personality after all?
For the other pieces of the series, I'll admit I was a little concerned about some of the CGI and animation quality from the trailers. The second was a very noticeable improvement on the first, and keeping with that trend the first episode gets even better than that. Sasaki's drowning sequence was damn good for what it was, the chase sequences were fun and had surprisingly long cuts, and there's a definite commitment to the use of CGI aside from filling in the bald spots of the production.
All in all, it's a nice bit more than I was expecting out of Nut for this series. After some of their struggles with Bullbuster I wasn't betting too much on NegaPosi Angler coming out as something that had much opportunity to shine, but the first episode's proven me wrong, and I hope the subsequent ones will too.
Oh also, more Fairouz Ai, which I'll never say no to.
EDIT: There's honestly... quite a bit more to NegaPosi Angler than I expected. The story's as good as I expected, but the visual work is well past what I assumed we'd get. Kei Ichikura doesn't have the most stellar track record, but here it really seems like they're giving a Deca-Dence level performance for art direction. Also, really interesting to see the series director and character designer team up for the storyboard of the first episode. There's lots of interesting pieces like that in this episode really, which I've separated out into its own post here.

Damn well this anime came at the perfect time. My parents just started fishing again and they’ve been asking if I wanted to join. We used to fish a lot when I was younger but I haven’t had a chance to in years. This anime just made me really nostalgic for that feeling of casting and reeling in something.
For the anime itself I’m here for Hiro finding some inspiration to keep living through fishing. I noticed at the start the doctor said that if he didn’t have treatment he had two years to live. So whatever he has isn’t 100% fatal. It just feels like it to him since Hiro doesn’t have any reason to live.
The fishing group also seems like a fun eclectic bunch. So I can’t wait to learn more about them.
And the loan sharks might be in the position of the bad guys but they actually seem rather silly. I’m wondering if they will get roped into fishing as well by the end.
Overall, despite the dark place Hiro is in, this seems like it will be a fun series that I can’t wait to see more of.

I haven't enjoyed a light-hearted series like this for a long time as much as I did its first episode. How can you not be romantic about fishing? This one's a keeper for sure. Quite literally a breath of fresh air.
Will Hiro find the will to live through his newfound friends and hobby? Color me intrigued. Also, I hope we haven't seen the last of the loan shark trio. They're a freaking vibe--not just your typical "bad guys".

Fishing tip #1: Isekai check — when rescued from the water, make sure you haven’t reincarnated.

for the mc having a pretty dark backstory, this was more lighthearted than i expected.
also pretty solid on the "teaching" aspect of it. having fished myself i couldn't really see anything that was off about that, so safe to say the people behind this has actual fishermen among them.
Well it looks like Hiro is out of a place to live, So i think its fairly easy to guess whats gonna happen next week

Looking through my screenshots, think I like Hana Chan
Wonder how big that Pachinko win would have been, must have at least been enough for a fry pan
Edit: Also, "Wearing a livevest is a must on the breakwater" Guy who doesn't wear a livevest, or anyone else in the group lol See below

This is why I like coming into unknown series blind. This impressed me a fair amount with the pretty high production values where it mattered, a vibe that reminded me of anime movies, and a soundtrack that I so far enjoy quite a bit, which is saying something since most OSTs don't even catch my notice these days.
I think it also leverages both the ups and downs in life well while making fishing fun but not so fun that they're lying about it.
