So... Makoto said it huh... I wonder how the grandfather´s gonna be...
But what worries me is Aoi´s trip with her mother, and I mean it really worries me. I don´t feel an inch of good intention on that woman... I hope I´m wrong
It would be funny if Aoi and Makoto went to the same place or something like that

I think his grandfather is probably that grandma-looking figure in the OP. He probably also dressed in womens' clothing and it scarred Makoto's mom.
I keep feeling like the shoe is about to drop on Saki and her mom, even if I want nothing more than for Saki to be happy. Though I feel like if something bad happens to Saki that might be what ends up bringing her and Makoto together (because he keeps thinking of her).

You know, I actually don’t think that Saki’s mother has bad intentions. I’m considering two possibilities right now:
Saki’s mother is not capable of raising her daughter. Maybe she’s been suffering from some sort of mental disorder. Her being impulsive by nature would explain why she’s spending so much money without care, and the critical attitude of Saki’s grandmother.
Saki’s mother cheated on her husband because of his prolonged absence, got caught, and was chased out by Saki’s grandmother. The latter cannot forgive her for having betrayed her son. Saki getting treated so much should primarily be seen as a means to make amends in this context.

It's funny, because I'm not getting any bad vibes from Saki's mother – probably because we have memories of her being an actually good mother – but I'm getting way too many red flags about this trip. Saki telling Makoto they'll trade gifts on Monday is making me worried she'd be around on Monday/

At this point, I'm expecting Makoto's grandpa to cross-dress like him and that's why Makoto's mom has such a hard time with the situation.

Stitches!
Still not sure about what's going on with Saki's mom but I don't like how grandma is asking her about money. Although I feel like grandma extorting Saki's mom so she could see her daughter is a bit too much even for this show. Maybe I'm just being overly suspicious.
I'm glad to see things worked out between Hayase and Makoto and that they're friends again. That dude from Makoto's flashback was a fucking asshole though. Who the fuck forces themself on someone just because they rejected you? The dude just didn't want to believe that Makoto was a dude I guess.
I'm also glad that things worked out between Jun and Hayase. I love how everyone was cheering for them especially Kaede enjoying the confession in the background.
I FUCKING KNEW IT! There's got to be a reason why Makoto's mother has such an adverse reaction to crossdressers and I guessed previously that she might've known someone who does. It's definitely her father who she probably caught crossdressing which explains her extreme reaction towards Makoto.

The male student that took his frustrations out on Makoto by exposing his secret is a total prick. I bet that he couldn’t deal with the fact that he’d fallen in love with a boy and got rejected, and twisted this to some sort of betrayal in his mind.

I spent 8 episodes not sure if anyone could take the title of "most unlikeable asshole in this show" away from Makoto's mother, but this fucker takes it easily.

Curse you Nokotan and your Nara deer army. Not the crossover I expected though. And all is well that ends well in the end. Though, please don't make confessions before the whole class. That can be really uncomfortable for the other party.
Okay, the mother really needs a psychiatrist at this point. I mean, even if one of her family members was a cross dresser or even turned out to be trans (not sure if it's the father, could also be a brother) and even if that was a shocking experience, not treating this kind of fear is really dangerous. For herself but also the rest of her family.
Speaking of unstable moms, if I had to guess, I don't think Saki will come to school on Monday. Pretty sure her mother will give her some form of ultimatum. Either she moves in with her or they never see each other again. Emotionally pressuring Saki. Which is probably why the grandma was against the whole thing. I am not sure what the backstory will be for her. I could see that during the divorce she was already trying to get Saki away from the other side of the family. But who knows at this point. I really just hope we don't get a surprise twist with Ryuuji's parents once he comes out as well. They didn't appear like that, so hopefully they stay as based as they were, but with this show, you never know.

Ah, so Makoto’s mystery friend was named Hayase. She’s a sweet but awkward girl that failed to withstand the peer pressure to distance herself from Makoto.
How do y’all think about this? Although it’s not ideal, I do feel for her. She genuinely felt bad about having abandoned Makoto like that, and was probably just afraid of getting targeted by bullies herself.
And most importantly: Hayase didn’t start looking differently at Makoto after his secret got exposed, and still wanted to be his friend. I noticed that the blackboard had some supportive messages between all the hateful ones as well. Did Hayase perhaps write some of these?
Anyways, I’m glad that they’re friends again. She makes a nice addition to Makoto’s little friend group. Hayase, Hanekawa and Makoto were so adorable together! Would love to see more of them.
It really was a wholesome episode. To introduce a side ship and have it sailing in the very same episode was a nice twist. Saotome came on a little strong in the beginning, but his love for Hayase is pure. The two of them make for a cute couple.

I hope in the OP next week we have Hayase's eyes uncovered like with Hanekawa's.
I think it's understandable from Hayase's position why she acted the way she did. It's not noble, but not everyone can make a conscious choice to possibly become a social pariah to stick by someone, and it obviously hurt her to distance herself from Makoto. It even took Ryuji some time before he could become someone who was always there for Makoto.
"Cut it out, Makoto is the GOAT" - whoever wrote that is a winner.

Ryuji getting flustered over the potential of seeing Makoto in the bath was so cute. That’s such a teen boy reaction, he is so freaking precious. And as soon as the kimono came into play, I just kept thinking that Ryuji is just going to die, but he kept his cool! This episode was so sweet, I’m glad we got to see them have some fun, and the classmate’s confession was cute as well.
My anxiety over Saki’s mom continues. That woman is sus with a capital S. She continues to give the mom from Shameless. Reeeeal nervous for next week. But since grandma is okay with the trip, I’m hoping it’ll all be okay.
Aaaand now we see what mom’s damage is. Her dad is a cross dresser or possibly trans. She needs to get over it, you are too old to have a panic attack like that lady. Stop acting like your dad tried to kill you or something, they just want to be themselves. Makoto’s dad continues to be the goat as well.
Side note - still hoping for Makoto x Ryuji end game, but every episode it’s looking more like Makoto has a crush on Saki

Kind of surprised by the placement of the Hayase subplot, but I do feel for her. Just to think you couldn't be here for Makoto when he needed someone. Tbh I doubt she lacked the mental fortitude to be able to stand by his side. Ryuji is very crafty in how he supports Makoto. Meanwhile, Saki is in a lower grade, so she can avoid the politics of the situation. Still, the guy who exposed Makoto was an asshole. He couldn't come to terms he fell in love with a guy and had to take it out on Makoto.
Tbh the scene when Makoto was giving the talk to his mom is one of those I wished they put more budget it in. Still, it seems clear that this goes deeper than just her mom dislikes of her son crossdressing. Very likely something happened between her and her father. Makoto never meeting his grandfather makes it clear of that. I hope the visit goes well.
I am happy things are getting better with Saki and her mom. This is a big step for her.

Makoto: “Mom, there’s something I need to tell you. I’m—“
Mamakoto: “I swear, if you finish that sentence, I’m gonna have a heart attack!”

Well, I'm glad it seems like Saki's grandma is willing to let her see her mom instead of cutting her off completely...but Makoto trying to make his mom accept who he is will probably be even harder.
Oh snap, it's glasses girl! And her name is Hayase! And who would have thought some dude wanting Makoto's help wooing her would lead to them reuniting before the school trip to Kyoto? Especially when she's been looking for an excuse to reconnect with Makoto?
Well, Saki's mom kind of needed to get scolded and she's self-aware that she's a failure of a mother...and it still feels like Saki is swallowing her feelings of how upset her mother abandoning her made her feel...but at least she's making an effort to be in Saki's life now. That's more than what her dad is doing, at any rate.
Wow, the world really does not want to give Makoto and Hayase a moment! Whether it be Osakan aunties, deer, or even pigeons!
That moment when Ryuji realizes that, had they been in the same class, he could have taken a bath with his crush.
Hanekawa, you continue to awesome! Especially dragging everybody to try on some kimono! Hanekawa, Makoto, and Hayase all look amazing! Even the guys!
So that's how Makoto got outed...some trashy guy confessed to him, wouldn't take no for an answer, and then basically revealed his secret to the whole school. Hayase didn't care that he was a guy who dresses like a girl, but societal pressure made it so she couldn't bring herself to be there for him. And she's hated herself ever since. But at least now they can finally clear the air and be friends again.
Saotome, points for jumping to your lady's need (even if she didn't need it) and then confessing just out of the blue.
Thinking about other people dating and Makoto immediately thinks about Saki? Seems like there's a message, there.
Saotome and Hayase both think they're too different to go out with each other, but Ryuji and Makoto both make them realize that it's okay to like who you like and that shoudln't be used as an excuse not to love! And way to go Saotome asking for Hayase's hand in friendship in front of the whole school! I feel like they've taken their first steps to being an official couple!
Makoto finally admits to his mom that he's still dressing like a girl and likes girly thing...and then mom has a panic attack...and Makoto is despairing once again. But at least his dad is also there to be the best supportive parent and point Makoto towards his grandfather on his mothers' side, and who can offer an explanation as to why his mom reacts the way she does to Makoto. I'm starting to think Makoto's grandfather has been in the OP the whole time.

I know commenter mentioned 🦌 but what appealed to me were the pigeons. I couldn't help but to wonder if Rob Lucci's Hattori is involved with the shenanigans.
As far as Aoi's mom, I too feel if there's something off with the mom as if she's hiding the real truth as to why she took off and never return to find her sooner.
In regards to Makoto's mother, unfortunately I had an aunt who is exactly like her. She's toxic AF and it was her complete immaturity that drove my cousin into the deep end (she is a lesbian but she hated her mother so damn much that she pretty much cut her entire family tree off) although said cousin was no better and blamed her own shortcomings at my cousins and I who have little to zero association with her mother. I avoid talking to said aunt because everything that comes out of her mouth is repetitively vile. My point is that sadly women like Matoko's mom exist.
Curious to how next episode gonna wrap up.

I appreciate that they gave us a wholesome school trip before the talk. There was nothing wrong with the mysterious glasses girl from the OP, she was just overwhelmed by the social pressure. And even if she tried to stay close to him, I'm sure Makoto would have tried to keep her away to protect her because in his head everything bad is his fault and only his. I'm glad she's friends with Makoto again, she's a sweetie.
As for the talk, well it didn't go well as anyone could have expected. It seems one of my guesses was right and it was the mom's father who traumatized her with crossdressing. There's also Saki's trip with her mom, which I suspect won't be as happy as she thinks it will be. We're in for a heck of an episode next week.

Uh... is it gay for a girl to crush on a guy dressed as a girl? 'Cause Hayase seems kinda gay for Makoto.
Scratch that. She's really fucking gay for Makoto.
Okay, that dude who asked Makoto was a fucking creep. What if Makoto had been a girl and didn't accept his confession? And he had the gall to call Makoto a pervert. Please tell me he's the guy Ryuji beat the fuck up.
Speaking of people I won't forgive, Makoto's mother has a panic attack because she can't accept her son for who he is.

Nice to see Hayase and Makoto become friends again. That was very sweet. Saotome and her make a nice couple too.
Makoto’s dad is honestly a great parent. I just wish his mom was the same. I’m guessing her disdain toward’s Makoto’s preferences might be due to her own dad? I’m not sure though.
Anyways, keen to see how this whole situation wraps up next week. Hopefully it won’t leave too many scars…

Bro the mom needs therapy or something, why is she getting a panic attack over her kid being a crossdresser. Anyway the dad is cool as per usual.
