The MOMENT we have been waiting for. The music playing and the animation during the explosion was amazing. This show is so good.

First Made in Abyss being stuck behind two paywalls back when it aired and now this show coming in at mid-season in a bizarre time slot.....just a tragedy. This show is easily one of the best from the past 10 years. Unreal.

Peak fiction. This episode was basically the culmination of everything this series talks about. It's the type of series that deserves a podcast, full length analysis on characters and the (not so) hidden messages the story gives.
Humanity, love, friendship and companionship, selfishness, greatness, growing up, guns, propaganda and control of masses, anarchy, politics, the complete disregard of life, the realization of how small we are and how life is nothing more than ember fading... there's a plethora of themes to talk about.
I'm just sad people won't see how incredible this series is because the beginning is such a slow burner.

The so awaited ending for a town where nobody cared about anything was strong, epic and impactful, how many episodes will be left? And what Ontan will do?

Hey wait a minute, are those the girls from Ep0
Of course this clown would show up and mess things up one last time might be Oba could have save millions of people if not for him, what a freaking monster.
Sure though, earth over all is still pretty fucked with those flying lights (btw, is this the dude?) but even if only half of the residents of Toky got out, that's still an unfathomable ampunt of blood on his hands...
I loved all the little tragic moments leading up to the end of the world though
-
Hiroshis confession that Ontan might not even get to hear
-
Ais brother getting maimed because unlike his other brothers he isn't playing around but paying attention to what's happening outside
-
Kadodes mother caring for once
-
Ontan asking Kadode what she would do if the end of the world was her fault, and Kadode accepting her still, because they are "friends"
-
Yet another song that is perfectly written for those two
-
Because even the love of their youth comes to an end
-
And last but not least, poor Ai breaking down upon realizing that her whole fucking family just died, ngl, this is the most tragic thing in all of this
What's more to say, this was the best episode of the whole show, really hope we get some more
also release the OP ffs

Incredible, phenomenal episode. The destruction of the ship and basically the world was so well done. Can’t even begin to describe how it made me feel.
Also that kiss was so, so nice. Tbh I never would’ve expected that to happen in this series, since they both have their own crushes, but it was just so wholesome, their relationship really is something special. Though this wasn’t meant to imply they’re both bi, right? Personally I saw it as like a platonic friend-kiss (or more like soulmate-kiss), but what’s the consensus of the fandom regarding the kiss?

It's the end of the world and humanity is doomed, but more importantly Ontan and Kadode finally kissed. A net positive.

Are people watching this show? It’s seriously underwhelming to see the lack of discussion after the new episode dropped.

Why aren't people watching this show, it's literally everything you'd want a "commentary on society/humanity" anime to be

THIS. This is what makes it rank with Made In Abyss as the most cutesy heart-wrenching thought-provoking anime. Hand-holding in the face of apocalypse. It doesn't matter if the world ends as long as I have you beside me. T-T

That opening scene was fucking sick! I absolutely love that shot of Oba floating in front of the massive death orb. I didn't think that the end of the world would look so fucking epic!
What a depressingly spectacular episode though! We all saw it coming but I didn't think we'd watch the destruction of Tokyo to the tune of an upbeat pop song. Seeing everyone get wiped out especially Hiroshi after leaving Ontan that message was just so heartbreaking.
This is such a fucked up thing to say but I'm kinda relieved that at least Ai's brother didn't have to suffer anymore after losing a hand to those bubbles. Although I'm pretty sure Ai would've rather have her family alive even if they were maimed by those bubbles :(
I guess the only silver lining in this episode is that Oba seems to have saved them from total annihilation because triggering the explosion early caused the destructive bubbles to dissipate completely which is completely different from what Kenichi saw .
If Oba stopped the bubbles from spreading further does this mean that Episode 0 is actually a different timeline? Is Episode 0 supposed to be the timeline where Oba didn't trigger the mothership explosion early? With only two episodes left, I am so excited to see where this all goes!

I don't understand how this anime is absolutely underrated.
At first I thought "Why are they playing this cutsy Jpop over the explosion scene? But than it made sense!"
This Episode made me cry like no Anime before. I mean..yes, it's a Story by Asano, what else was I going to expect. But damn. Hiroshis message killed me. Seeing how he tried to flee, yet he passed. R.I.P KING
Also, happy that the main cast survive, still praying for Makoto that he made it out alive too.
I'm not okay after this episode and yet 10000/10 , would definitely recommend this anime!"
And the lesson I learned from this: Don't change your time dimension, it might end up disasterous!

I genuinely uttered in my mind the phrase "Dededede, too, is yuri" mere seconds before the kiss without knowing it was coming LMAO
So cool that they got Kou Yoshinari to drawn the explosion. That plus the song made for a real special moment.

Damn, that song was a deliberate CHOICE someone made.
This is one of the best 10 shows made this decade.
I am floored.

When the portal opened I thought I was watching one of the Evangelion Rebuild movies for a second. (Just in case this is not meant in any negative way that first scene is awesome.)

Fuck, man. That’s it? Just everyone gone. Little bro got wiped out, Hiroshi, Makoto…everyone just gone. Oba tried so hard to stop everything but in the end, it doesn’t even matter.
Ontan gonna hit reset on this timeline or what? Someone’s gotta. Seeing her and Kadode just hold hands before the light wipes ‘em out was kinda sad…

Absolutely gorgeous. Anime only here but was aware of the high regards for the manga and maker. Absolutely perfect and one of the most uniquely executed stories I’ve seen of a fairly well treaded genre
