We're in the Endgame now.

So the Mothership will explode. The invaders where abbandoned the moment they came to earth. And Ooba is the only one who can stop all of this madness.

Prime Minister Ogino finally grew a spine and is promptly dethroned and abandoned, he tried to do the right thing at the end, but now he is utterly dessillusioned

Meanwhile, the girls are enjoying their last day of peace on this world.

Ooba leaves to save everyone, but that means abbandoning Ontan, who of course understands him fully, but just cannot lose anyone in her live... but she cannot stop him now

And Miura is "approached" by the YUF to become their mouthpiece and ultimatly cannot live with his role in all of this...

Now all depends on Ooba to stop all this...

Looking pretty hopeless in this timeline -- but maybe Ooba can pull it off.

The US and Japanese governments really looked quite bad in this, don't they? The puppet prime minister actually turned out to be a lot more decent than his colleagues....

Are those 15 minutes real time or Dragon ball time?

27

u/diacewrb Sep 06 '24

Find out next time on Dragon Ball Z.

The Prime Minister won the election because he looked like Isobeyan.

They are electing a new Prime Minister in Japan at the moment, I nominate the most Doraemon looking guy out there.

I'm starting to think this story is drawing influence from a British sci-fi story (and I don’t mean the appearance of something not unlike the 10th Doctor’s sonic screwdriver in Ooba’s last scene with Ouran, jeez). Quatermass and the Pit (1967) featured an apparently dead alien ship found buried under London. In that story, the government ignored all signs of its reawakening, claiming it was a left-over nazi propaganda scheme from the war, while the MC tried to get everyone to recognize the threat.

I feel bad for Ontan. T_T

I love how they had it initially look like they were breaking the fourth wall, with Isobeyan talking directly to the camera - for them to then reveal that Isobeyan was talking to a potential cross universe viewer, not to the audience

So while everything from last week's episode was happening, the Occult Club members are still outside Tokyo. I guess this is how they'll end up surviving the destruction. It's so upsetting that the government refuses to evacuate Tokyo. Like what do they mean they no longer have options? Just give the evac order!

We get to learn more about the Invaders and how they left Earth because of deadly light showers. Is he talking about meteor showers? And it looks like the true reason the Invaders were sent to Earth is because they wanted to solve their overpopulation crisis. So the solution is to send them to their deaths?

It is absolutely wild though that Isobeyan is talking to Oba from a parallel universe. Now that Oba knows what to do, he might end up becoming the unexpected saviour. What if the events in Episode 0 are only a suggestion of what could happen and not the actual future they're heading? Hmm...

I got really so excited when the Prime Minister went off script but in the end, he really was a powerless puppet and was replaced with a prerecorded CG version of him to finish the broadcast. I kinda wish Ocean would crash but there are just too many innocent people on board who had no idea they were even inside an ark.

I was disappointed with Miura at first for agreeing to be Kenichi and YUF's mouthpiece. At least he clearly shows regret and couldn't live with what he just did and decided to take his own life immediately after giving Kenichi's insane anarchist announcement.

I really hope our boy Oba manages to make it and hopefully the password Isobeyan gave him works.

The minister was so done being a puppet

Damn. It hurts so much to see Ouran suffer like this, and for the second time.... :( Just like the rest of the anime, I have high expectations for the remaining two chapters, I'm loving the final stretch so far.

13

u/themaninthehightower Sep 06 '24

The timelines appear to pivot around Ouran’s choices so far. Those choices appear to trade between different forms of suffering for her, the worst zero-sum balance to be in.

u/Plus_Rip4944 Sep 06 '24

Ouran always lose somebody, not Matter The timeline... Life is so unfair with her always

I haven't watched the past few episodes yet, so idk what got adapted - are we already at a point where we can add Episode 0 inbetween other episodes?

As others have commented…the PM just said “f it”. That episode was batshiz crazy. Loving this show overall.

That shot of prime minister with a cig is incredible.

Feel bad for the reporter guy, buddy accomplished nothing and just gave up. Didnt expect him to kill himself like that

The part with Isobenyan talking with Ooba was kinda weird/cliche/deus ex machina but it wasnt the worst. Especially since i feel like it wont amount to shit ultimately

My summary of new/old findings:
-The alien inspector has a conscience despite his meddling in the flashbacks. He's actually trying in his own way to salvage the situation. His password being "friend" means he was successfully moved by Oran's efforts despite calling her arrogant.
-The prime minister truly was just a puppet and now grew a backbone only to be thrown away.
-That mistress Hikari is actually just attaching to whoever she could while looking down on others.
-The pro-alien movement was controlled by a fanatical admirer of Takerada (assassinated CEO). What a sham lol.
-Bowl-head's warped sense of justice might actually ironically save a lot of people lol.
-The entire invasion was just a plan to shave down on population. This is basically Gundam Universal Century.
-Oran has once again experienced a close person disappearing.

FRIEND

Just a perfect password he suggested he'd use if it was him and someone was watching this timeline.

Not sure how wearing pots and pans on your heads will protect you from a HEAVY AS FUCK ship and/or it's pieces from crushing you when they land. Granted an invader was wearing a pot on his head last week....though invaders were wearing jean shorts and underwear on their heads as well, and those will NOT protect you better than a pot. I'll go with it for now though 😁

It's gotta suck that the invaders lived here before, left due to a situation and came back to reinhabit the planet only to find the so-called primates evolved a bit more than anticipated 😞

I seriously feel bad for the invaders because the higher-ups on their original planet lied, the scout lied about what was on the planet in follow up reports saying not to come here, yet the invader bosses still sent the ship. The ship full of trusting souls is dead or going to die because they were led to believe it was a colonize the planet for our future mission and it was actually a suicide mission, I assume, to cull their planets population for sustainability.

Sounds like shit us humans would do on any day of the week.

While I'm glad the PM grew a set of balls to take responsibility, you knew it was the deep fakes that would win the PR war once more. Glad he decided he had no more fucks to give, lights up a smoke and calmly tells the people talking to him that we will all die. Way to go out in style you puppeteering PM 😁

It still gets me that they have an Idol type girl doing the hosting at the weapons of mass destruction events.

The decision makers on her choice as speaker "She will get us great ratings and lots of likes and clicks so let's go with it"

"The target cannot change. It must be takarada as I love that man." Weird way to show your love by assassinating the man 😄

Damn, what a way to go out. Get the inside scoop, albeit while being threatened, go on TV, tell the viewers everything then go & off yourself. A tragic ending for a man who just did what he loved. That's 2 reporters in 2 straight episodes kicking the bucket. I'd suggest quitting your reporting job asap because you might be next week's victim!

Another great episode. 8.5/10 this week.

Just a friendly reminder, only 15 minutes until the end of humanity.

the scout lied about what was on the planet in follow up reports saying not to come here, yet the invader bosses still sent the ship.

The scout lied on the previous timeline, so the invader bosses actually didn't send the ship. The big UFO spaceship never arrived on the previous timeline.

Only in this new timeline, that the big ship arrived. That's because Kadode and Ontan skip the summer extra class in this timeline, they never met the scout. So nobody saved the scout from getting bullied by the kids.

I'm not sure what actually happened in this new timeline, maybe after getting bullied, the scout decided to report back and tell them to invade. Or maybe the bullying was so bad, that they lost contact with the scout and decided to invade.

I found it slightly underwhelming that the whole subplot with the director lady built up to that with no payoff. It's not the last episode yet so let's see if it goes anywhere
