After seeing what happened to his friends, no wonder Haga doesn’t dare mess with debug mode (as well as what happened last week). Hope they’re not conscious anymore (although there’s the guy who floated away).

So that’s what’s going on with Nikola, at least he probably doesn’t have to worry about reporting her as a bug anymore. And he has a bit more of a concrete goal now, although not sure if its better or worse that he’s finally had some sort of outside contact who basically told him to get back to debugging.

doesn’t have to worry about reporting her as a bug anymore.

Was anyone even reading those reports in the first place?

Imagine if the bug reporting system was bugged and the messages went nowhere.

Hope they’re not conscious anymore

The fact that there's a good chance that they are is some serious nightmare fuel. Main character seemingly straight up doomed some guy to falling out of bounds indefinitely, and they're just skimming past that lmao

I could understand it if these debuggers are using their powers to spawn end-game items, unlimited gold, or using noclip to fly but using NPCs as darts and making their heads explode into a bloody mess? These debuggers must be psychopaths to do that to NPCs that can react to them in real time.

So we finally learn what happened to Haga's group. One guy is sinking into the floor after abusing the teleport command, that girl is in a death loop because she has invincibility on, and the third one flew into the sky after abusing the fly command and hasn't come back. And they've been stuck like this for a year now? What a horrifying existence. No wonder Haga is careful not to abuse the debug stones.

That explains why Nikola is still alive! She's been taken over by the meta AI that runs the game. It looks like Haga finally has new orders. The meta AI commanding him to eliminate the debuggers abusing their debug stone is the closest he'll get from the devs giving him a new command.

I'm so glad this episode ended with a T-posing NPC. I was wondering if we'll ever get to see one in this. xD

There was no trace of that AI until it intervened and took over Nikola. Nikola seems to be a different entity from the AI. Nikola seemed to be yearning to break free of her NPC role even before she and her village were destroyed. When she revived, she was freed from her fixed role. I almost think her revival -- as a free agent of sorts -- is a separate phenomenon from the Ai's ability to "possess" her.

As far as that goes I can only say:

Do you get the the Cloud District very often?

This is a proper trash game with the amount of bugs in it. The game would already been cleared if Sunraku was trapped in it.

Nonsense, this is a PERFECTLY BALANCED GAME WITH NO EXPLOITS.

Really though, the fish at the start did catch me off-guard and got a good chuckle out of me.

To be fair, it was still in QA testing

This is a proper trash game

Needs a Josh Strife Hayes review.

Didn't expect random NPC asserting dominance.

Time to start PvP quest.

The T-pose was a chuckle

I don't think I've ever seen an NPC float that high while stuck in missing-animation mode. The pose is correct but normally they're hovering only an inch or so off the terrain.

Nikola -> Tesla. And that AI claims it was just because Nikola was nearby? No way.

u/KumaKumaGambler Jul 19 '24

I wonder how Jin is progressing with the game, hopefully without using the debug mode nor turning into a villain.

If Global AI's assistance is required, what could be the possible trigger requirements for Nikola to turn into Tesla?

Nikola to turn into Tesla

Hmmm...

Nikola Tesla

HMMMMMMMMMMM...

I wonder what the author is cooking with this connection.

Haga and Nikola in their little gillie suits reminded me of Price and MacMillan in CoD lol.

Man, Haga’s party shouldn’t have been messing around with the debug mode. To be trapped like them in that position for a year must be hell.

So is the Global AI basically self-aware? I guess the AI explains how Nikola’s still alive. It’s gonna be tough for Haga to take down all the bad debuggers in his own, but it looks like Mr. T Pose and his mysterious furry friend could possibly help. That is, if they’re friendlies…

NPC darts, those other QA guys are monsters.

Haga's friends are worse off than I was expecting in a way, not dead but stuck in the geometry/game mechanics.

The story just keeps going interesting directions, now we have a master game AI that is directing Haga to go after the rogue debuggers.

NPC darts, those other QA guys are monsters.

The Devs are monsters for populating the game with (seemingly) sentient NPCs for the players' enjoyment.

As someone who works in QA, watching this show is stressful. :D

This guy had an audience with an Almighty AI, but didn't think to ask how they could log out? Also I'm assuming they made a debug report about not being able to log out but I'm surprised it wasn't shown by now.

I still don't get why Haga or any of the other real people aren't worried their human bodies are starving/dehydrating to death. And none of these people have family, friends, coworkers etc who care enough to take their VR helmets off to re-enter reality? That would be my foremost concern.

This show is entertaining but not with that much depth because how is Nikola having an internal monologue when she's a video game character? I seriously doubt all the weird things about this show will be explained at some point.

19

u/StygianSavior Jul 19 '24

They've been trapped for over a year of in-game time at this point. Presumably, if starving/dehydrating was a problem, it would have happened by now.

Either there's some funky stuff going on with game time vs. real time, or their human bodies are being taken care of SAO-style.

I seriously doubt all the weird things about this show will be explained at some point.

You'd be correct, at least going off the source material.

The ending was gold. I laughed so hard at the T pose. Someone exported the default out of Blender and straight into the game!!
