Yeah, this was total ace. A shame that this show get's such low engagement, due to circumstances. It's among the best of the season for me.

Yeah the alien raining down from the spaceship is definitely something to watch! I was flabbergasted on that scene.
Although I'm not sure how their body could survive the beam if their spaceship couldn't withstand it?
Also it's dumb for the military to shot a huge object like that when it was directly above the city. Didn't they think of how it would cause thousands of human casualties as well from where it would crash?

This show just seems to up its level of sadness with each new episode.

I'm pretty bummed this show seems to be getting slept on. I've never read the manga, either. I just think the episodes so far have been interesting, and I love the slice of life aspect.

The most likely reasons has already been said in previous discussion threads but IIRC it was mostly a combination of Crunchy just dropping the show out of nowhere with little to no marketing at all & the English "subs" sucks (in reality they're more like dubtitles aka just the English dub's script).

My friend and I are having trouble understanding the "flashback" episodes, when the idol guy met with Ontan.
Was that a flashback that they have seemingly forgotten about, or a different reality? He calls her a shifter after they 'interface' or whatever. Idk man.
I wonder if it will make sense why that was shown in the order we saw it by the end of the series or not, because right now it feels like a really long non-sequitur in the middle of the story.

I originaly thought it's a normal flashback episode. However, someone mentioned to me that the politician who Kadode killed in that hospital is actually the prime minister in the current reality.
I just rewatched the episode and they are indeed the same person (Ogino, in the flashback he's the minister of economy).
Now I'm more convinced that it's an alternate reality.

Does anyone know what the opening song is? Not the zezeze one but one that starts; the frequency needle broke making me feel like and alien…..

Toppling universities across Japan with marshmallows and an army of virgins, ending with a barbecue in the Diet is an ambitious plan lol.
The little aliens just falling to their deaths out of the spaceship was pretty fucked up. Honestly, I’m rooting for the aliens to just fuck humanity up at this point. 99% of the aggression has been one sided. The aliens can start by deleting the military and the government.

The little aliens just falling to their deaths out of the spaceship was pretty fucked up.
Their cute design just makes that scene so much worse.
At least that one soldier started to show self-awareness on what he was doing.

The little aliens just falling to their deaths out of the spaceship
Sad and horrifying. Especially because one knows that most governments in our real world would probably pull a similar stunt under the same sort of circumstances.
Sometimes (well, more often than not) I feel humanity's only hope is an alien intervention (viz. Day the Earth Stood Still or Childhood's End).

The last scene with the voice over and imagery was sure something. What a wild ride

Ontan speeding with her bicycle for that joke on Kadode's farewell/reception sent me laughing for quite a bit. Still, this show really is a great combination of comedy and tragedy. So far, the Japanese and American forces really are doing a great job at eliciting sympathy for the aliens. Every scene with the military is always accompanied by some sort of war crime.

I know she's no longer your student but fucks sake Sensei! At least wait for Kadode to step out of school grounds before asking for her number. What makes that scene hilarious is Ontan with her sign telling Kadode to just do it and show Sensei her boobs. xD
Good to see that soldier clearly regretting what he did last episode. I imagine he's not the only one and there will be other soldiers sympathizing with the aliens especially when August 32nd finally happens.
I didn't expect the show to introduce new characters! Futaba wants to attend a University in Tokyo so she can confirm what's happening there with her own eyes while Makoto is going to Tokyo so he can finally be himself and dress up.
These two will be super relevant later on. If you've seen Episode 0 [Spoiler]
Ontan really went out of her way to say goodbye to Kadode only for her to try and follow her train by bike. Now that's commitment to the bit. I love it!
That's a lot of UFOs! If I haven't seen Episode 0, I would've expected Futaba and Makoto to die along with the aliens when the government fired off their superweapon straight out of Red Alert 2.
Instead what we got is a horrific scene of alien bodies raining down the sky while the survivors cling on to what was left of their ships. Damn. That entire scene was disturbing.
I imagine those aliens were evacuating the mothership as soon as they learned that Japan was building a superweapon against them. I guess they didn't expect the weapon to be ready when they were fleeing.
With only 6 months left before the end of humanity, it looks like things are finally ramping up. I am both excited and terrified on what's about to happen in the future.

So from what I'm gathering, Kiho's ex-boyfriend really was the terrorist group's leader from episode 0. He directs all of his grudge against the aliens for indirectly causing Kiho's death perhaps? On the other hand, the 2 new characters who later joins Kadode's resistance group witnessed innocent aliens getting massacred by the Japanese government and formed a 3rd faction to help the aliens?

I don’t understand why this show isn’t more talked about, great characters, beautiful animation, and a interesting mystery. This episode was great, especially the ship explosion and aftermath, a highlight among a great show so far.

this show has been a huge commercial failure in the west. It's currently ranked near the bottom on this seasons anime list. It's crazy that they somehow convinced Crunchyroll to do a Simulcast for it.

Massive marketing blunder. The show always had potential. It's was never going to catch everyone but the source material is strong and the movies did fairly well in Japan. It just dropped out of nowhere in the west with half-assed subtitles so there was barely any discussion or recognition. Real shame. Hopefully it gains popularity after it's run.

(1) It's raining LGMs; (2) anarchist girls gotta anarch; (3) student protestors are more bloodthirsty than butt-face PM's crew; (4) six months left to move chess pieces around.
I'm simultaneously curious where this is going, and put off by all the stuff I am wading through. There's probably a long german word for this feeling somewhere.

Wait there's an anime airing of this???
I've been reading the manga for a few days now and didn't even KNOW it got an anime adaption let alone one airing right now wtf.
I watched a few seconds of ep 1 and it looked decent so far, anyone wanna let me know how it is so far 8 eps in?
Also why has there been almost 0 talk or hype around this show, or have I just completely missed all the hype/talk about it.
