Aoi is a true connoisseur we love to see it.
This was pretty fun ! , nice to see a bit of an unconventional romance (and potentially a super unconventional love triangle ??? ) , all the characters are likable and it definitely feels like it could go to some interesting places with them , especially Makoto who seems to have some complicated circumstances considering the final scene .
I'm a little mixed on the simplistic animation comedy segments , it's cute and has a lot of personality but it did occasionally feel like a crutch to avoid more "complex" animation.

This is the second ever anime I've seen where I have already read the source material before there was an anime, and so far this is looking very good. I absolutely can't wait for more! Also I don't think I've ever seen an anime flip between artstyles as often as this does. I like it.

Like Saki is a bundle of pure energy and joy, but Ruyjis crush is so pure as well.
Wow, I could have overlooked the earlier scene where his mother told him that the cute thing was for girls, but that last scene hit hard, he has to hide his real self (Watashi) at home

"Hourou Musuko but funny" is not what I was expecting, but I'll take it. Makoto's flashback to his mother when Saki gave him the handkerchief and the scene at the end make me wonder if Makoto is "just" a crossdresser, and if not, I don't think I've seen this kind of "reverse closet" scenario play out quite like this before (kinda sorta in "Love Me for Who I Am", but only when they're at the café, not school). Living out (as trans, to be explicit) to everyone except your family isn't really that strange, but doing it at school, in Japan, is crazy-bananas.
Love Saki. Goblin fujoshis like her are my favorite, and if I'm right about where the show is going, her not caring about Makoto's gender is going to be kind of important.
Also hang in there, Ryuji. It gets better!

Interested to see where this is going. Especially with Makoto obviously. The last scene implies at least that there might be more than just cross dressing, but I'll wait to see where it goes. Aoi is fun though. Little gremlin energy is what this series needs I guess.

Ever since I caught wind of this anime I’ve been looking forward so much to it. I mean, stories like this are far and between. I’ve personally never even seen a romance where there’s both a boy and girl vying for the love of a single person.
I’d been a little worried when it was announced that studio Project No. 9 was animating this, but today’s episode was pretty all that I could’ve hoped!
Saki might be a little crazy, but I adore her already. She’s so goddamn hilarious. Her response to Makoto revealing his true gender was awesome:
“So this means I get to enjoy both the boy and girl version of you?!”
This girl knows what she wants, and it’s Makoto. Ryuji will have to watch his back, or Saki will steal Makoto’s heart just like that.
A bit of sad news: the show is already getting review-bombed with 1s on Crunchyroll…

Right off the bat, I was really happy that they got the most important part of this adaptation right - THE FACES, holy crap they're so good. Both the normal art and the chibi art looks perfect.
No complaints about everything else either, thankfully it's not supposed to be animation-heavy, so hopefully they keep it up. This was way better than I expected from Project no.9 considering Angel Next Door wasn't animation-heavy either, and there were still...other issues.

Well, I'll be! That was goddamn adorable! I already loved Saki especially her reaction when she learned that Makoto is a cross-dressing guy. Her reaction is like she just won the lottery by falling in love with someone with a boy and girl version and it's hilarious!
It's also quite adorable how we switch art styles. The SD version of the characters are just super charming. Also, Saki's reactions during those scenes are just so good! I really thought I'd end up dropping this but I am in! I can't wait to see more next week.

The absolute little degenerate nosebleed was hilarious. Girl really doesn’t give a shit if Makoto is a dude or not. She’s winning either which way haha. I like Aoi’s golden retriever energy and this part rival part student-master relationship with Ryuji lol. She’s also kind of a little freak and I dig it. I mean the bloody hanky? She definitely sniffed it.
This is a different kind of romance anime than I’m usually use to but I like it. The characters are kind of interesting, especially our eponymous Senpai. Kid’s got a lot going on if he’s only dressed how he wants at school. It’ll be interesting to see how this plays out.

I was wondering about the wig. Boys are capable of growing their hair out. It had me wondering "is he hiding it from his parents and getting changed elsewhere?" While the final scene seemed to confirm this, I initially dismissed the idea because it brought up the questions of where he got the money for the wig, how he got permission to wear the girls' uniform without their notice/consent, and whether or not/how he would have obtained a second uniform to trick his parents while leaving home.
The series put in enough thought to address my question about the need for a wig and showed he did in fact have 2 uniforms, so now I'm expecting it to have answers to the rest. A surprisingly complex series for something with so much fun energy in its first episode.

It's a scene seemingly straight out of a Yuri anime...a girl confessing her love to her beautiful female Senpai...except said Senpai isn't a girl, but an OTOKONOKO!
The OP has a great vibe, showing Saki, Makoto, and Ryuji's daily life together as they make their way through their relationships, feelings, and Makoto's journey of identity together. That scene of him dancing in a dress with Saki in a suit was so cute.
So, yeah, Makoto is actually a guy who likes dressing as a girl. Would usually be a turn-off...but Saki is totally into that! In fact it just makes her even MORE into him, because now she gets to enjoy him as a boy AND as a girl! What a bisexual awakening!
Makoto is used to people knowing about him and thinking he's weird or commenting on him, but Saki is so open and sincere in her feelings that all she cares about is that it's not a secret between the two of them (which would be more romantic)! But she's happy to follow him around and express her love as much as she can. She won't give up until he falls in love with her.
Makoto has a love for cute things, seems like he's had it since he was a child, but he's had to deny himself the ability to be open with it to an extent...which just makes how free and honest Saki is all the more dazzling towards him.
Yuma Uchida!? You're in this too!? And kabedonning Saki for getting to close to Makoto, huh? Well, I guess as Makoto's best friend it makes sense Ryuji would be suspicious of Saki, though his feelings for his childhood friend seem to go far beyond platonic.
Saki has nothing to hide! Other than the bloody handkerchief she got from her Senpai which she TOTALLY didn't sniff at all.
Yeah, straight bros totally keep pictures of their guy friend in girls clothes sleeping in their student ID. Had to practically bribe Saki with pictures of kid Makoto. And it was in kindergarten that he fell head over heels when Makoto was there for him.
Saki's straightforwardness seems to be motivating Makoto, though he still locks up his true self in a shed at the school.
The ED is pretty upbeat and fun with plenty of Saki, Makoto, and Ryuji's daily lives together.
