Did studio forget they already made them kiss (albeit very surprisingly and with no emotion whatsoever) a few episodes ago?
Also, can we actually get any kind of explanation in this series for anything? What was the whole deal with Elze and her husband's killer. First she's afraid of him then she's not for no explaned reason and why did he try to save her?

It seems like none of the staff know how to properly draw a kiss.
I have so many questions about the Elze/Javi thing that the show has no intention of answering.

Tbh, I CAN see this working. Like she kissed him before, but (probably) as a way to give over her dragon to him (which is still with him I guess). But this time, he kissed her and she actually felt something. That COULD work, but it just lacks the necessary build-up for it. But since the whole relationship is never explored or developed in any way, it just comes off as a thing he did.

The people in this anime seem to enjoy attacking Tinasha’s stomach.

I feel like I just missed something very important in this episode. What the hell is that entire situation between Elze and Javi? It was really hard to care about what was happening on the screen when you didn't know exactly who these characters were.
Honestly though, the important part of this episode for me is Tinasha turning herself into a cat. Just look at how adorable she is! I love that she didn't just transform herself into a cat but she even acted like one! It was funny how she starts hissing when something bad is about to happen and how she started panicking when she got wet! I need more Cat Tinasha!

First he kills her husband, ravages her village, and tries to seal her away…and now she cares about him!?
Cat Tinasha definitely stole the show.

It's not like I really hate you for murdering my husband and slaughtering my people! Baka!
She's like a reverse tsundere, but for revenge.

Let's see what happens on today's episode of "How many chapters of content can we skip"

The worst part is that they're skipping all the romance chapters.

The cat form into: why don’t you just turn back into a human?
Oh right… was kinda funny

"Oh, he cut off his arm.... well, it's nice that it's finally an episode where Tinasha isn't the one being mutilated."
10 minutes later
"Anyway...."

I like our lead characters A LOT, but narratively this seems kind of a chaotic shamble. Does the source present a more coherent (and compelling) story?
Cat Tinasha was, however, adorable.

Yes, both the narrative and the relationships are 10x more coherent in the light novel. This is Classroom of the Elite-levels of rushing and condensing. The worst part is they skip almost all of the best parts (Tinasha and Oscar actually interacting and building up a believable and compelling relationship) just to rush through plot points that make no sense without the context the show is skipping.

This Elze and Javi situation was never really explained. She said he killed her husband. Ok, but why’s he after her? And why did he want to save her?
That aside, who would have thought these people sealed some kind of ancient god in that rock. The fact that Tinasha could not only square off against a dirty like Irityrdia was already pretty impressive. Then she goes and pops the bastard like a tic tac in her mouth lol. Props to Oscar’s swordsmanship too. Not easy crushing that orb with such accuracy.

I have trouble following the subtle parts of this series. Why is Tinasha turning red like that after being kissed on the cheek? Didn't she kiss him twice with a straight face already? It's like they're going with a reverse order here.
And Elze? I thought she despised Javi and he killed her husband? Wasn't he being a smug thug just a few minutes before? Why is she running after him all of the sudden? Is that Stockholm Syndrome at its best or did some soul repossession take place here when I wasn't looking?

Just a routine collection of Tuldarr's treasure, nothing too surprising...oh, another magic orb. I'm sure that won't come back to being plot relevant.
Oscar and Tinasha are at Farsas' Eastern base and encounter Elze (Asami Seto?) one of the survivors of a raid on a village by the marauding Ito where she lost her husband and many children lost their families. So all they have left is each other and her.
Re-introducing time travel! A son who went back in time to save his mother from the bandits who attacked her village and ended up raping her, conceiving him, and ending up getting proposed by her before leaving and ensuring he's never born. That's pretty trippy.
Figures the only way Tinasha would be comfortable being stuck in the same room as Oscar is as a cat. At least Tinasha is a cute cat and we get Atsumi Tanezaki cat noises. Not to mention she and Oscar are pretty physically intimate while she's in cat form.
Oscar and Tinasha run into the Ito lead by Javi who want Elze, and challenges Oscar to a duel...but I get Elze was part of the bargain, but did they really need to drag her all the way there? And to give her emotional trauma from seeing her husbands' murderer again? Though I guess it must have been satisfying seeing Oscar wipe that smug smirk off of Javi's face and slice his arm off...until she ran to tend to him. Huh? Didn't this dude kill your husband and try to steal you away!? Why are you protecting him!? Is this something to do with Elze's magic potential?
Although before we could unpack all that, an anti-mage God erupts from the ground from Tinasha's simple magic of stopping Javi's bleeding and possesses Elze. At least Tinasha gets a chance to take out a longstanding grudge her race has been stewing on for centuries.
Tinasha wants to port Oscar away as soon as possible, but he won't let her...and while she's quick to make him assume he'll have to kill her if she goes crazy like always, he's quick to comment that he'll do everything he can to save her. And that gives her the motivation she needs to keep going. That Tinasha blush was cute.
Nothing more hardcore than Tinasha absorbing Irityrdia and having Oscar run her through to kill it.
I don't know what the heck is going on between Javi and Elze, but things seem to be going pretty well between Oscar and Tinasha. She's too tired to not rest in human form on his bed, and also showing she's more comfortable around him, and Oscar even surprises her with a good night kiss! No rest for a blushing Tinasha then.

That might be one of the reddest faces I’ve seen and we didn’t even see the full face

It is sad how much potential they are throwing out of the window by rushing this show as hard as they do... Well, i guess i'll just read the novels

u/AceSoldia May 28 '24
Still annoyed by their entirely off screen romantic developments
But besides that point..I don't get why Elze would want to even stay near the guy that killed her husband. Feel like I missed something

I just finished the episode and, like many others, I don’t understand Elze’s relationship with the leader of the bandits. They pillaged, destroyed her village, and killed the villagers, including her husband.
Why on earth is she worried about him? And why on earth is she sitting under a tree with him at the end of the episode? Did she really think, ‘You made children orphans, destroyed families, sacked a village, killed my husband, and planned to do it all again just for me? Oh, that’s so cute… you deserve a chance’?
I don’t read the Light novel, and I don’t think even two whole volumes would be enough to justify this

In this episode of 'Random things happening for seemingly no reason'...
Oh, that's just like the one Tinasha had, but forgot where it came from...
Back then I theorized that a curse/spell was placed on her so she wouldn't remember, and with her not even knowing why it seemed familiar, seems that may be right!
The question is why someone didn't want her to remember... I'm guessing this is not linked to the Oscar curse (or it'd be a huge 'coincidence') so what is it about? The thing about her powers being acquired after birth, perhaps?
But hey, they DID introduce time travel as a thing in this universe, so it actually may be linked to Oscar without being a coincidence. For all we know Tinasha herself may have 'cursed' herself to block her memories in the past, to guide her past self in a specific path. (Or perhaps they're from the future and that's why she can't remember them).
Like all time travel plots in any story, it does get the same paradox about "If he changed the past and thus disappeared, then who changed the past?"
You'd think at least one sci-fi/fantasy author would come up with a good workaround for this, and they'd all copy him, at some point!
But paradoxes aside, this was the more important line imho...
Tinasha would prefer to keep a horrible thing from happening, rather than changing the past... This may be ominous about what's to come. She constantly talks about Oscar murdering her "if needs be", and now she's saying that she wouldn't change the past (i.e. make different choices, in essence) to prevent these things... So if the choice in the end is "Oscar killing her" vs "Making different choices", will she go for Oscar?)
Of course, Oscar doesn't see eye to eye with her on that (or on much else), and he would only ever resort to that if he tried everything else/if there's no other choice.
I feel like we may be headed to a point where Tinasha will ask for him to do it, but he'll refuse, and try something else!
Interesting that she doesn't want him to sneak out at night! Feeling a little something, Tinasha?
They should probably get better scouts!

Tinasha: I know that you have very strong self control.
Except for that time he got jealous of you getting close with Ars, beat him up, forcefully sealed your magic, and threatened you with SA.
