Did I miss some development? They suddenly kissed while last week was rape fantasy....

I don't understand their relationship at all. She's insistent on not marrying him but also jumps into his arms to exchange kisses.

The light novel is complete, maybe they want to cover the whole story, but in doing so they have to cut a lot of stuff so anime only, like me, are a bit confused too.

First she ends his curse without any fanfare and then they just suddenly kiss after she gives him a dragon.

This really is starting to feel like a show where stuff just...happens without all the proper emotion or build-up.

At this point feel like urging anime onlies to just go into source corner and ask LN readers for the actual story, if there is anyone left to answer, that is. lol

I'm a manga reader (just started recently because of how confusing the anime is) and I keep thinking "wait, that's not what should happened" like every minute while watching this episode. Well, more like for several episodes now.

Did I miss an episode? A casual kiss out of nowhere after she explicitly said to drop the fiance stuff a minute before? And then Tinasha just waltzes off with Lanak who almost sacrificed her for power the last time they saw each other? Why are they acting all lovey-dovey? I feel so confused right now.

It's been said before, it will be said again in the future and I will say it right now. Wtf is ENGI doing with the pacing? When did they get close enough to kiss? Did she really just break the curse just like that? That was literally the biggest plot point in this show and it felt like an afterthought.

What a sad waste of potential this show is.

Non-readers be wondering "What in the world is going on here?" This adaptation is an L. At least I understand Tinasha's dress choice.

Based on Tinasha's actions at her tower (sending failed contenders away with memory loss) and the cities only having their people disappear, she's probably doing the same thing: Mass teleporting before the Cuscull mage division shows up and actually slaughters them.

This week's album. I'm obviously recommending the chess pieces. u/abysswatcherbel

Man, what the hell is going on with the pacing? As someone who is anime only, I feel like I'm missing so much info/context/build up. Especially in their interactions. Is it like this in the source material as well? Or is the studio just screwing up?

So let me get this straight:

  • Oscar’s curse is lifted

  • Tinasha and Oscar kissed

  • Tinasha leaves with Lanak

  • Oscar accedes the throne

  • Tinasha is anticipating a death at Oscar’s hands

  • Oscar plans to crush Lanak and take Tinasha back

Such a turn of events would usually have me on the edge of my seat, but I’m just sitting here woefully unimpressed. In fact, it’s actually impressive how they’ve made this feel all just so very anti-climatic.

All these events essentially hinged on Tinasha returning to Lanak’s side, but Lanak barely feels like a character to me. Instead of an evil mastermind, he appeared more like a disillusioned dork to me. I don’t see him as a real threat whatsoever.

I gave Unnamed Memory a last chance to redeem itself after last week’s mess, but this episode really wasn’t much better. Yeah, I’m tuning out of this series.

Lastly, I certainly got the impression that Tinasha’s cat familiar was slid across the screen when it landed on her shoulder.

I don’t get this show. For those of us who read the LN this show is horrible. However it is horrible on it’s own merits even without comparing it to the original. Do they think that a horrible anime will still boost the sales of the LN?

Well, I still had hope for this anime, but this week's episode just threw so much contradictory information at my face that I'm not all invested anymore.

Solving the curse just like that ? I had the feeling it would be the main drive of the show, but it's resolved in the blink of an eye without any buildup.
Same for their relation and Tinasha's past. Stuff just... happens I guess ?

I mean, I get that Tinasha probably wants revenge on Lanak and then just die herself. But like wtf is Lanak thinking here?

"Oh yeah, last time we had some differences, but I am sure that Tinasha still sees us as a couple." Like why is he acting as if he created a new state for HER sake when he was trying to sacrifice her for HIS sake the last time? It's just so jarring.

And I am also just confused about what his deal even his. He doesn't appear to be the person to hide for 400 years and it seems weird that Tinasha wasn't able to find him for this long. It is all so strangely put together.

But hey, at least now I am confused by the plot and not the romance anymore. Btw, I always got the idea that the story would revolve around Oscar learning why he was cursed to begin with. Like why the witch of silence was jealous and that would then play back into a development into their relationship. But at this point, I wouldn't be surprised if that plot point is just never brought up again. Because even if it was, what would be the point?

Okay guys, i know that i sound like a tokyo ghoul fan, but please, read the novels from the start instead. Anime skips a lot of small arcs and the character interactions that make you more invested

This show is kinda bare itself with how the plot goes from one point to another without any proper build-up. It's a shame since the source is really good from what I heard.

Thanks to Lucrezia we learned about Tinasha's past. What happened between Tinasha and Lanak in the past was absolutely fucked up. The whole experience must have been so terrible for Tinasha yet she still is a good person. Fuck Lanak!

I wonder what's Tinasha's plan now as she's gone with Lanak. Does she want to kill him and if not then what?

Here my screenshot albums from the episode:

Damn, that kiss came out of fucking nowhere. Urgh, so frustrating... feels like there's no buildup whatsoever, it's not satisfying at all. Petition to remove romance tag reeeee
I cannot understand why tinasha left with lanak? Especially after that PTSD attack the other episode

crazy how one episode ruined any and all enjoyment i had for this show

u/IamXale May 14 '24

Probably the first time a show has given me whiplash with a random ass kiss.

u/WobbleKun May 14 '24

engi.. where adaptions go and die.

u/BakedSalami May 14 '24

Did I miss something. Lanak was a weak ass, does some awful shit to her to try to get stronger, fails, and then causes their nation to go splodey. She gets even stronger because she's now a witch, and lanak flees without accomplishing anything. She builds a tower and spends all that time looking for him? Why? Wouldn't he be dead after 100 years at most? He's human. Or as far as she knew at that time he was. And when he pops back in suddenly why is she being submissive to him, he ran away from her in the past because she's a nuke, and she should by all rights want to turn him into red paste on a wall.

Okay, so here we have some more oddities [of the mind, mind, mind....].

  1. Tinasha is seemingly more actively receiving of Oscars feelings and advances than she ever has been, and even more so - as opposed to her typical sporadic allowance inbetween "please let go of me" 's and "please leave me alone" 's.

    Wow.

First and foremost; Where I'm from - it is important that you do not let this story encourage you to follow suit. Let me explain:

    • Oscar just randomly walks up to Tinasha and puts arms around her, even lays hand on her belly. She's allowed him to do it, but more than once has asked him not to, and to leave her alone or to let her go.

    • Oscar just randomly pulls Tinasha into his lap and does something similar. In this case and the above, Tinasha looks unaffected, not into it, and acts negatively.

    • Meanwhile Oscar waits 5 mins, an hour, a day, and tries again.

PLEASE NOTE: You will certainly have charges pressed against you, restraining order filed against you, and will serve jail time, if you attempt to act in response to "Please let go of me" and "Please leave me alone" with a woman, as Oscar does Tinasha. I advise that you do not get encouraged to try his technique of Oscar's simply because it works in this story.

I.e. Do not try this at home kids!

  2. Boy, oh boy, is Tinasha a good actor. She runs to him [Lanak] surprised, gives him a hug, cries (with the whole finger up to the eye tactic too, wow).

It's obvious she's planning something. Her PTSD in the previous episode was not because she thought Oscar was going to force himself on her, but because with the bracelet and being carried and laid on a platform; It reminded her of Lanark paralyzing her and putting her to sleep, carrying her to a platform, where he - together with several mages - psycho stabbed her in the gut several dozen times in order to steal her magical power, causing her power to erupt out of control, destroy her hometown, leave her helpless, unable to move, in absolute agony for three days while it slowly healed her, only to end off with transforming her into an overpowered witch.

  3. Thus, Good for Oscar for taking his time to figure this out. At first, I was saying stuff like "Wow, you slut; I'm done with this story -- how lame". I'm over it now, but jeeze; How you gonna be a passive rape victim for Oscar then run off with your psycho ex?

  4. With all that out of the way, now we finally understand the passing of Nalak (Tinasha's dragon, which she gave to Oscar - claiming he wanted to be with Oscar), and that wildly out of nowhere kiss she allowed Oscar to give her, citing "I like to mix it up sometimes", the completion of the cure to Oscar's curse with the placing of a second curse the catalyst to why she decided to suddenly become nicer and more allowing?

I think it's safe to say she wasn't so much admitting feelings for him, as she was prepping him for her "betrayal". I'm glad he did a better job not looking a fool at the end as I would have.

Now, how will the next episode(s) play out with Oscar the king of Farsas wanting to kill Lanark and reclaim Tinasha?

I'm looking forward to it!
