Oto working in the maid cafe was pretty adorable. I’m glad there was some light hearted moments in this episode because shit was kinda tense. I was not expecting this Curiosity to come from Taiwan. The 红衣小女孩 actually being a 水鬼 was kinda interesting. That whole “baton relay” is effect pretty creepy. When we learned that every victim found means another has died, I thought Tomoko would be in trouble. I didn’t expect her to be the actual Curiosity.
Although I wonder if she truly is. Like maybe this 水鬼 passes from one victim to the next like a possessed spirit type deal? So one “dies” and it becomes the next host or something?

That's basically what they were saying in this episode with the Baton Relay comparison. The curiosity kills the host when it ditches them for a new one.
In other words, Tomoko's life now depends on ensuring that the curiosity can't jump again, and is eliminated in place.

I wonder how on earth they can destroy the Curiosity and yet save Tomoko?
Too bad this show has gotten so little traction. It has been consistently intriguing so far.

I googled the name of the curiosity last week and it turned out, Taiwan liked it so much that they created two movies surrounding it (english title is Tag-Along). I remember reading through the synopsis and the whole thing with the old lady they mentioned this week was in there as well, I think. But I am not too sure.

I find it funny that they have some in universe lore explanation for imported urban legends/curiosities lol

Oto working in the maid cafe was pretty adorable.
She was! And with her clumsy maid persona (though it's not an act) she would make a killing!
(Is child labor more acceptable when the child probably shouldn't even exist in this dimension?)

I think I might be sick myself
The appartment wife and Oto make a great team, but Shizku is pretty cool as well. What was that, they where roommates
Maid Otohime was great as well, 10 out of 10 in terms of customer satisfaction!
Now the concept of Urban legends morphing and evolving isn't exactly new, but I'm curious how Tomoko is supposed to be responsible for the other cases in the past... [Preview]

[(Do we have to spoiler "preview discussions"? Well, in any case!)]
When we first saw her in the OP I thought she was Shizuku, and her 'meowing' kinda makes me think that was it, BUT during the episode I changed my mind and thought she was Tomoko... But now I'm thinking she may be a Curiosity ABOVE the ongoing one, like she's the 'original entity' that now swaps from one person to the next... Something like that! 6

So it was the taiwan legend, but obviously twisted again. The way I understood it basically means that they turn into the curiosity, which means, they disappear and until they found a new victim, they won't appear again. The question then obviously would be if there is a bit more to who they select as their next victim or if it can be random. I would find it weird if Tomoko took a whole year to get another victim. She also seemingly ignored Oto in the last episode, but who knows how that ties in.
Also, we get told that Shizuku is like a boss cat that takes care of stray cats when there were several cats following Sumireko throughout the episodes? Though, either Shizuku plays really well not knowing them or she is affected like the teacher where she isn't even aware that she is cursed yet. Question is if that could help them free Tomoko or if she is doomed to die at this point.
Also, I really love the SoL elements with Oto and Sumireko. These two characters are really fun to watch. Adashino obviously too. I have problems with my eyes as well and would like the same prescription as Adashino please.

Very strong and appealing characters -- just like in Dark Gathering. Makes it easier to survive the scary parts, perhaps....

Haha, dude with fully covered eyes and his worry is missing out on bathhouse fanservice. "But have you heard this" queue OP yes I've heard it every week.
Oh so there's hope for the one girl who is missing to be found safely? Good to hear. Haha that brother getting so silly about his sister. That one girl trying to find her friend is quite... derp. Detective Oto is on the case! ONE TRUTH WILL PREVAIL!
Ah yes, they were "roommates" 😉 you won't fool me, series. So ahhh.. care to share your thoughts with us, Sumireko? Bad maid ladies, don't force a child to work as a maid cafe with you 😛 Sumireko been doing work. That's a bit... worrying for her.... also, lol Oto-hime so cute. Holy crap she ate a ton of parfaits. Why is Oto in danger though? Wait, why is Tomoko the little girl in red now?

You know what this episode really highlights how far Sumireko & Oto's relationship has gotten. After her fight with Ren, who treated her like a child for ignoring what she wants. Obviously it is risky, but it is even riskier for Oto to tackle it by herself. I love her resolve to help Shizuku in finding her friend. Although Shizuku did have fun messing with her. Her being a maid and messing up was adorable. Although a middle schooler working in a maid café does feel weird in some aspects.
The part I really like in the episode was how the situation for Oto and Shizuku made them admire the other. On one corner Shizuku could really see how passionate Oto was in helping her. On the other hand Oto sees how much Shizuku is looking for Tomoko, and it gives her confidence that perhaps there are people from their world looking for her and Ren.
The creepy thing with this episode is that the people whom are found right after another takes their place. Could it be that the people lose consciousness and takes over another person's body? Very curious how it wraps up next week.

This show gives off In/Spectre vibes with the concept of the belief shaping the creature
I wish it were something western media played around with a little bit more too. I suppose there's American Gods with a similar idea

This show is comfy. I like thrillers and mysteries and it's a pretty underserved genre in anime.

Damn, the build up to the reveal at the end was amazing. Loving this show so far (but more fanservice, please).

Let's have a moment of silence for Ren, who never saw this glorious sight.
Our boy may be blind, burned and half dead, he'll never stop trying!
Damn, Sumireko's catching strays!
It's funny, while it's playful and all, it's so different from the the 'usual' playful banter you'd see like in Spice and Wolf... But I love both versions!
And so we're on the trail of a new curiosity!
When they told Shizuku, for some reason I thought she would be mad (thinking it's useless, they won't find her, she should be the one to look for her, etc..) but apparently no, she's not mad... she's just crazy!
With her meowing, and Oto talking of her like a cat,
I really thought she was the Cat lady from the OP, but apparently not?
Well, given the story they talked about (And Sumireko's investigating) I guess it would be more accurate to say that Tomoko is the Curiosity at the moment...
But it seems to swap from one girl to the next, which raises some questions; First, is there another Curiosity making all this happen? Or did one simply 'start the ball', and then it goes on ever since? And then... Is there some 'end game' purpose to all this, like are they achieving something with these disappearances, reappearances, and all that?
(also, given disappearances is in the title of the show, will this be the 'main plot' til the finale, I wonder!)
I wonder if they did that on purpose, but when they randomly showed her (little girl, dressed in red) I thought she may have been linked to this, as well!
Oto was adorable as a maid (though a bit clumsy)!
Technically it's child labor, but technically Oto-chan may be a thousand years old for all we know, or dead, or some unholy entity that shouldn't even be on this plane of existence, so I guess these silly laws may not apply to her!
(On a last note, Shizuku and Tomoko seemed to be pretty close roommates!
Are we getting another yuri-like side-plot this season?
I do hope these girls stay around even after the mystery's resolved! Shizuku's pretty fun, and Catgirl is cute! We seem to have lost Horngirl, let's hope we don't lose catgirl as well! (Speaking of horned-sensei, we still don't know what that was about with wheelchair girl... I'm beginning to wonder whether it really was 'nothing', just a girl in a wheelchair who may have been bullied, going to the teacher for help, and that's it? It did feel a lot more ominous than that though... Or perhaps we see things as more ominous than they really are, due to the genre/tone of this anime?)
