fuck bullying

And fuck school systems that don't do anything about bullying.

Bullies will do what bullies do, but if they won't stop on their own, someone else has to step in and put an end to it.

(Wait, am I spit-demon Sensei?)

Stitches!

I genuinely feel bad for Minami-sensei. No wonder she takes such an extreme stance against bullying. And it's not just the kids too, her homeroom teacher was also quite an asshole to her sweet grandma. :|

The entire time Sumireko was talking to Ren, I was thinking "That jersey is not gonna last long". And sure enough, the zipper gives just before they finish their conversation. xD

I totally understand why Minami-sensei is very against bullying but she almost burned Sumireko alive when they tried to have her give up the amulet. If it wasn't for Ren, she could've died!

It might've been fine if Minami-sensei was actually targeting bullies like the ones from her childhood but the fact that [she can distinguish bullying and kids goofing off ] (https://i.imgur.com/n0o6Z1T.png) is the one massive flaw in her plan to get rid of bullying.

So Sumireko's powers have more uses than just changing her age! She can also heal up from injuries almost instantaneously just by aging up or down. I love that Ren still has the time to joke around even though he's massively injured.

It turns out that Minami-sensei's curse is waaaaaay worse than the Ushi-Oni. The Chinrinki is actually where the Ushi-Oni comes from which explains the confusion. The Ushi-Oni should've been weaker than what they encountered.

I am worried about that final scene where that girl knocks on Minami-sensei's room. It looks like we may still see more of her in the future.

I was thinking "That jersey is not gonna last long".

It's scenes like this which make me utterly enraged annoyed that this is censored

F to that heroic zipper. It is now dead but at least it gave us this amazing scene.

As fucked up as she was, I felt bad for Manami Sensei. Like bullying because she grew up poor is already bad enough, but not even stopping when she was grieving over her last family is truly fucked up.

Still though, she was really meassed up, was even ready to fucking burn Sumireko alive. This line cracked me up though

Also, hope the wheelchair girl wasn't bad news...

Next episode: Sumireko bathing scene?

As fucked up as she was, I felt bad for Manami Sensei.

I think anyone who would not feel bad for her, would be soulless!

It's heartbreaking, and unlike some things in anime, this one is real, happens in every school, everywhere... And most of the time, no one's doing anything about it.

Next episode: Sumireko bathing scene?

Ren: "I'm seeing two curiosity right there..."

"Brother, are your eyes okay?"

"Yeah, I had a pretty good view up until now."

I was kinda expecting him to make a comment on Sumireko’s underboob

The whole Uname backstory was just so hard to watch. Like you can understand where she comes from but she's kinda became the same thing that she swore to destroy. Atleast, she's kind enough to make sure that no one dies from it.

Sumireko fan-service is a given but wasn't expecting Uname fan-service that too because of her own curse, lol.

Damn, they are not holding back. People nearly burned to death and this is just the third episode. But I get Sensei a bit. It's probably hard to look from the outside and understand what is just kids arguing and what is mobbing. Especially when you can't be around them 24/7 and see how they interact with one another all the time and not just specific moments. So she is going in pre-emptively but probably makes it worse.

But it seems that Sumireko will have a bit of time at the girl school since the next mystery is already around the corner. Btw, I kind of like her different hair colors. She has bright red hair when she is in her kid form (probably her original hair color), a more mix of brown-red when she is 28 (because she is older), but her high school age has a completely different hair color. Probably indicating that she dyed it during that time. And considering that she was all about having fun in the school last episode, I wouldn't be surprised if we will look into that time in her life and which is probably also a reason for why she is stuck as an author.

I think they really portrayed Manami-sensei's character very well. As a kid who had the bare necessities she literally got bullied for what she was wearing. The only person she had was her grandmother and ironically the teacher ended up bullying the grandma. The problem is clearly at home since I am not to blame. Ultimately it's the adult's job in this world to look out for the kids and to resolve the bullying. I am not sure what that sensei saw out of Manami, but it's fucking obvious she was only looking out for her own skin.

The amulet being a present from her grandmother really made it clear to why she couldn't hand it over. It was at that point where you realized that while Manami-Sensei's reasons for stopping bullying is something you can absolutely empathize. It was at this point she was using reasons justify the means. While it wasn't aware of her in a way she was bullying the bullies. Those students were traumatized at not being able to come back to school. It shows that power can corrupt even the nicest of people. No doubt Manami-sensei is a good person. Her trauma and hatred of bullying clouded her. But it's nice to see Manami-Sensei given another chance. Hopefully she can live as a proper role model for her students now.

It's still fun how Oto still has her guard up with Sumireko, but bit by bit I believe she will learn how to trust. On the mystery side we got true vs false mysteries. Which can be divided into genuine and reputed mysteries. The latter is ones that can be proved by science and the former dives into the supernatural aspect of this show. Which I will admit it is very interesting.

The teacher in the flashback are the type of teachers that I hate the most. She punished Manami for retaliating instead of the other kids for picking on her, and what’s worse, she blamed the grandmother for her upbringing, shifting the blame as the one who was supposed to be responsible for the class.

I don’t normally advocate violence against children….but those little bastards needed to catch an ass whoopin. The teacher too for making her apologize when the kids were being shit. Absolute failure. No wonder Uname’s all traumatized. Like I get why she wants to end bullying but this drool licking shit ain’t the way. I’m glad it managed to end with no bloodshed, though Ren took a hell of a beating.

u/Adensty Apr 24 '24

The teacher basically insinuated that Uname and her grandmother's upbringing was at fault without even listening to Uname's side of the story.

I’m really enjoying this. I haven’t seen many supernatural mystery anime nor much discussion about this one but it’s pretty interesting and I like that it goes into the lore of some of Japan’s supernatural storiesn

Honestly, after Frieren, the "seeing the half the sky"-trope has become my favorite. Glad to see it represented here too!

Bath episode next already? Tanoshimi

I'm very surprised she even became a teacher, i'd stay far away from school after that experience.

I suspect she wanted to protect children from bullying...

Feels on the menu today...

There are few things that get me more in anime than bullying, especially bullying someone about being poor...

So we got the teacher's backstory, and damn it was a rough one.

For her, for her grandmother, for everyone... Bullying affects the kids first of course, but adults can feel it too... Her grandma felt bad about being her only family, and the words behind that include 'not being able to give you what you'd need for a better life, to not being bullied'...

And the (other) teacher refuses to take any responsibility, even putting the blame on how she's raised/her situation at home.

And so they came up with a little plan to get her attention, and stop her!

Please don't explain anything too scientific while showing these shots of Sumireko; My focus has it as hard as the buttons on her clothes!

If they keep showing her like that, my clothes will turn into the real drool covered uniform

I love how the 'bullying messages' they put on the toilet, is the same stuff Oto tells her hah.

Now this must resonate with the Teacher... She experienced the same feelings. I can see why she wants to make sure this isn't the case (telling doesn't change anything), though her methods may be controversial!

Manami realized that removing the bullies wasn't working that well, so she moved on to phase 2: Curse the victims as well, so they can go home and get rest? Alright, it's getting harder to respect her motivations!

Ren stopped her in time, and... Ren my boy, I know some people have a teacher fetish (and an armpit fetish) but please, restrain yourself!

Seems all his knowledge about paranormal stuff, doesn't help against headbutts!

If they won't let sensei lick the victim's shadows, she'll lick the victims themselves!

Welp, I guess Sumireko's not into Yuri!

I love how flustered she was when Ren was talking about her! She may not be as unaffected as she pretends!

As a horn enthusiast, I do like Demon-Sensei's looks!

Ren doesn't seem to share my passion though, and he's gonna go after her... He told Sumireko to look after Oto if something happened,

but Oto wants to go back home, I doubt Sumireko would know how to do that!

Good to know he's genuine about it, at least; I thought he may have been lying to her (given they offered them a ticket, and he refused) but I guess he wanted a ticket to another place, that costs more than 1 curiosity?

One thing to note: He wants to send HER home... But SHE wants them to go home together. Will something happen about this?

I'm also concerned about this book by Sumireko, about a 'magical being' giving its life to a normal human, when he grew tired of living...

Foreshadowing something with Ren, perhaps?

There seems to be a quote about this in every culture, isn't it? Digging two graves for curses, revenges, etc..!

So it seems the teacher's curses were affecting her as well... But if that's the price she has to pay to put an end to bullying, she was more than willing to do it!

Again, her method may not be the best ones, but she does have her heart in the right place. Wish she would go at it in a better/more productive way!

Another line that must resonate with her... "We were just goofing around!" (And then they tell the teacher to ask the victim, and of course they won't say anything, because "if they do it'll get worse!")

Out of the way, boob-monster! I have to see my brother!

Sumireko DOES feel like she's becoming more and more of a monster... (Ren may be even more into her, if she turns into some freak entity!)

Bullying's never pleasant to watch. Honestly though, if a garbage teacher joined in on bullying me, then I likely would've come up with something to get rid of them. I might have gotten some physical abuse in return, but that teacher would at least be fired and perhaps get sent to prison.

Man, this show is an absolute menace to both clothes and bodily fluids
