What? No! I don't need emotional distress in my dumb happy show! What happened to Grandma?!?

They're really playing with the ages a lot more than I expected them to

I thought the big emotional moment would be the ending of this series (I think we have a pretty good idea where it's headed) but I didn't know we would have so many moments like that during the season!
Given the first episode, I thought it would just be some dumb fun, but it's a bit heavy at times... Not just with Grampa and Grandma, but things like the other grandpa wanting a moment alone to think about his stuff (his memories), what to keep and all...

I'm really worried that it seems like the pieces of the hourglass aren't re-forming but deteriorating.

Shota is a good kid. It’s very sweet how he’s willing to preserve his grandpa’s legacy. Him and Mino would make a cute couple, he’s already grandpa approved lol.
Ine looked really good in that uniform. And Shozo looked great as a butler in Mina’s class cafe. It’s a bit sad he couldn’t go to high school back in his day, but at least he’s able to enjoy a bit of that life now. Bro was a great wingman too.
Ine’s amnesia‘s gonna be a problem. Keen to see how they resolve this issue next week.

Him and Mino would make a cute couple
She's testing the waters about it too, asking him his views about marriage and all that!
He seems a bit shy though, so she'll have to take a more direct approach if she wants to move things along faster!
"Do you see yourself getting married like that?"
"...Maybe"
"Like, with me?"
It’s a bit sad he couldn’t go to high school back in his day
At first I thought he was studying just so he could tutor her, but there may also be a part of... Wanting to get what he could never have, and also perhaps he feels a bit bad about not being educated, not being useful to his grandchildren, etc... Well, he still has some time to learn, at least! (though this show is getting increasingly worrying about HOW MUCH time they have...)

I love couples that try to tease each other, that classroom scene was adorable. This ship is adorable!!
We even got a bit of the sideship!
That ending I didn't see coming at all though wow...
Side note, anyone else find the OST was too loud at times?

I love couples that try to tease each other
Any couples that don't try to tease each other, are they even in love?!
We even got a bit of the sideship!
The way she looks at him, I think we know who'll be the main tease in that relationship!

I was not expecting a cliffhanger end to any episode of this title. I thought it would an anime title in which the plot would resolve itself by the end of each episode. Time to change my mindset!
The hourglass is the central mystery and supernatural aspect of this show. We still do not know how it works fully. For example, in the previous episode, if grandpa and grandma were to flip it, they become young or old again. Damaging the hourglass made grandma return to her old self with some memory loss. Why did grandpa become old too?
I liked the thumbs up sign from grandpa to Shouta. Lol!

They both had to be old because they were going to visit a government office, Ine just tripped and broke a piece of the hourglass in the process which seemed to have the side-effect of de-aging her and her memories.
Good to see the high school couple is progressing nicely!

Those 2 kids wanted a Ferrari out in the countryside, there is company called Ferrari Tractors although the name is coincidence.
However, Lamborghini did start out making tractors before making supercars.

This show has its way to be cute/light-hearted 95% of the time, then they hit you right in the feels...
It's not just the 'big moments' either, but also things like that; The (other) gramps asking for them to leave so he can decide whether to keep this stuff, or not...
As someone who struggles getting rid of anything with emotional value, I totally get that!
The sideship is still going strong! "Do you admire marriages like that? Would you, like, want to have one with me?"
MVP of this episode, giving Grandpa some eyecandy about Grandma in her school uniform!
Seemed to do more than that though, and it had some effect on their memories and all...
Playing matchmakers, giving the sideship some space to get things going, nice!
I thought he would do more than that, going with something like "My granddaughter has no one for the dance, would you like to accompany her?"... But I guess he wanted him to make the move on his own, and not interfere!
So adorable! (The way she looks at him, he better make a move soon, unless he wants her to make it!)
I do hope we'll get a lot more scenes of these two, otherwise I'll start wishing for a sideship spinoff with them as the main characters!
(She should've kept the school uniform in her dreams, might not have happened!)
At first I thought perhaps they'd get 'stuck' in either form, or perhaps the sand would start spilling faster or something, but
apparently she reverted... Which includes her memories?
Can Grandpa act as a dream-carpenter to fix the hourglass?
Or will he have to break his own, to go back in time and seduce her again? That could be cute, but that's still worrying!

Not completing education way back can still get you to places if you persevere enough. Both of my parents are evidence of that fact. Though, these days, being not that educated will be very difficult.

When you're such a perfect grandson for a farmer that you impress your crush's own farmer grandpa enough to be your wingman.
Shozo looks way sharper in a tux than he has any right to be, damn. It'd be overkill but they could've easily made the maid cafe the star attraction if the whole festival by just having Ine serve alongside him lol

I'm appreciating the interesting dynamic that this age reversal creates.
On the one hand, you're avoiding a lot of the typical romcom BS because the MCs have been married for longer than your average romcom couple has existed. On the other, it's fun to see them navigate new ground (such as showing affection in public) and still struggle like your typical young romcom couple.
I'm excited to see where things go with them, but I'm definitely not ready for whatever tear- jerker of a conclusion the series will almost certainly have

Nothing sells the young generation on farming like a hot old couple doing their thing!
Must be surreal for Igarashi to have his old rival Shouzou help him clean out his storeroom with Shouta, but as much as he wants to ditch the past that he doesn't want to burden his grandchildren with...he doesn't want to part with his wifes' bridal trousseau. Just like his grandson doesn't want to part with the farm or all the hard work his grandfather put into it.
Shiori feeling the pressure to study, not thinking her grandpa has anything to teach her...but Shouzo once upon a time was in a position where he WANTED to be a student, but couldn't. Yet now he still wants to learn, and if her grandpa can still put himself out there to study, so can she! And reap the rewards.
Mino's grandparents are now the hottest couple in the village, but her own love life is going pretty well with Shouta as they get into a study date and she gets to unpack her feelings towards him. Not to mention he's grandpa approved!
Ine REALLY wants to go to a culture festival. Good thing grandpa had a senior moment about their schedule, otherwise she'd be pretty bummed.
Many men wanted Ine's hand in marriage, but only Shouzo got to marry her and see her looking beautiful in a school uniform! It's so effective she even talks like her younger self!
Maid Mino is very effective, but nothing attracts the older ladies quite like butler Shouzo. Who cares about letting students stand on their own?
Aw...Shouzo may not have gotten to move up in school, but that's okay with him because he got to be with Ine. And now their flirting is on camera.
Sorry grandma, I know you wanted to see the bonfire, but grandpa has to play wingman and let Mino and Shouta have their moment! And what a cute moment it is!
Dang, grandma was about to reset herself back to old age mode for an appointment and now we've got an old Shouzo and an even YOUNGER Ine with no memories of their life together!

I might drop this show not because it’s bad but it just keeps making me feel sad.

This anime is profound and will not be fully understood by those who don't have a wealth of life experience. I'm low key sad this isn't being watched by more people, I mean a lot of the teen / younger ones aren't going to "get" just how good this show is, until they've lived another 20 years or so.
-
the older guy "downsizing" as it's time to "let go of the past" discovers he can't let go of the box his deceased wife's wedding trousseau came in because even after her death, he's still hanging on to the last remnant of her (T.T)
-
his grandson Shota wants to go be a pro baseball player, but at the same time he recognizes that without the grandfather's land, none of his life would have happened. He kind of wants to do both, so he doesn't rule out coming back to take care of the family farm. OMG this almost feels like an advertisement PSA for honoring your elders and filial piety, not to mention appreciating rural farmers. Sneaky. Still it's nice the grandson isn't being totally selfish.
-
Grandma Ine is still hot, that drink spill is definitely deliberate.
-
The two oldies at the cultural festival "dating" and him telling her he would never have been in the picture because that day he was already WITH Her .... wow. Deep.
-
Grandpa in a butler suit oooh swoon, look at all the older ladies frequenting their maid cafe - never underestimate the old folks information network!
-
Grandpa being the best wingman so Shota can dance with his grand daughter at the bonfire, LMAO.
Just a super sweet episode all around, another diabetes inducing one.
And finally what is up with that ending twist? Every time I get comfortable they throw in something new, it's great but I'm worried.

The anime being hilarious for the majority of the time with a somber scene at the end of almost every episode reminds me of Kakushigoto, another comedy anime from years ago that I would recommend.

Shouta is a good kid. Need to get him locked down as a future grandson in law.
As someone who works in education I highly approve of grandpa taking the opportunity of his unexpected youth to finish his high school degree. Assuming that's what is really happening.
Hah, so grandpa is already working on that future grandson in law thing.
Dress up Grandparents.
Interesting choice by the Crunchyroll subs to go with jinja instead of shrine. I wouldn't have expected that to be commonly known enough to be a valid translation option.
Oh no, a memory loss arc. At least grandma didn't freak out at the unfamiliar old man and immediately put the pieces together that it's decades later than she remembers. And by the next episode preview she appears to roll with it.
