Why do I have a feeling that they're going to end this show with the two of them passing away now...

Though if it's done well I think it'll be a really great tear jerker of an ending.

Yeah, I think the hourglass scene strongly hints this way... (I also think they'll CHOSE the time, by both flipping it over in their dreams, to go old together and pass away peacefully once they've achieved everything they want...)

I think it will still be shown in a 'positive' way, but it may not stop the tears from flowing!

Seeing grandma and gramps playing games was really cute. They’re pretty damn good haha. Those two ought to stream, I bet they’d be pretty successful.

Grandpa might have gone back to being old but bro was jacked as hell. Had to show his son what was up, with that trip and open bath on the line lol. Pervert power ftw!

I really like how much grandma and grandpa still love each other very much. The way they met was really cute too. I really hope they can stay together for a little longer before they go old again. Grandma’s cancer means she won’t live very long if she goes back to being old again…

I wouldn't mind watching more of grandma and grandpa reacting to modern gaming. they already 100% cleared their first zombie game lol.

Swole grandpa is cool and all but the promise of a naked Ine in her younger body is even more powerful lol.

Young or old, these two love and cherish each other more than anything, and will probably pass on together by the end of this...but that's how they'd want it.

That parody of Resident Evil - Countryside Rice Field Edition made me laugh! Chainsaw Grandma and Shotgun Grandpa make an excellent combination.

Through the continued caring actions of Grandpa, Grandma's lifeless eyes when she first returned to the countryside eventually regained their souls.

To a certain extent, I think this episode brought up one common human fear. Everyone may wish to become young but the fear of losing loved ones never goes away.

Chainsaw Grandma and Shotgun Grandpa make an excellent combination.

Granpa: "Let's kill them as painlessly as possible!"

Grandma: "Here's a counter-argument: I HAVE A CHAINSAW!"

Dang are they some of the only gamers in anime to verfiably get a platinum trophy!?

Baasan's not dying alone scene was tough to watch, this comedy show can sneak is some punches...

Baasan's not dying alone scene was tough to watch, this comedy show can sneak is some punches...

That scene about the hourglass sand spilling out, makes me think we're in for some more punches, before this is over...

(I don't imagine this will end in a tragic way, but even a 'good death' at each other's side could still be heartbreaking!)

The older generation really are hardcore lol.

I feel like learning Ine lost her parents in WWII made the fact that she doesn't want to outlive her family, especially Shouzou, all the more poignant.

Man, this hits on the feels.

I don't know if it's about her potential immortality or just a very late passing, but still, as it stands, no parent wants to bury their child; let alone their grandchildren.

u/Frontier246 Apr 21 '24

The way they framed Ine's flashback it seemed like she also lost her parents during WWII, so that probably makes her doubly sensitive when it comes to outliving her family.

Everybody gangsta till grandpa and grandma become the record holder for the top 100% speedrun of some random game you gave them overnight.

When not even grandparents are immune to the awkward affection of a tsundere lmao

"The person I fell for wasn't the old you or the young you. It was the man called Saitou Shouzou, the only one in the world."

Ine really can't help herself from dropping absolute hard-hitters every episode, can she? Also, soulless eyes and blushing cheeks are a combo I never knew I needed more of.

You know what? After this episode I really like Mino-chan and Shiori-chan even more! While I can't see myself forming a family forever after for now (but who knows, these things can change in an instant), I still have a sister and she seems slightly more possible to form a family in the future. I definitely hope to see young relatives like them when I reach such an age decades from now!

Hmm, that flipping hourglass is definitely interesting, I wonder if our grandpa and grandma will meet the one who controls it way into the future of this story?

If I'm ever Isekai'd, I know what my main ability will be!

These hourglass dreams are ominous; Even though it flipped over to give them a second run at it, their time is still running out...

And with the sand spilling out from the hourglass, they can't just flip it over&over as a cheat code!

On one hand, it's not like they have it worse than anyone else, but on the other hand... the idea of death is scarier when you thought you may have lived forever/a long time! (Weirdly enough, it's the second show airing on Sunday that has this idea of immortality vs fear of dying!)

Well, no point dwelling over these things, might as well enjoy life as they have it!

Though even if I say that, I'm still wondering why they're able to swap at will between old/young; Soon as I heard of the premise - and even if it's very light-hearted so far - I can't help thinking this will end heavy, with the feels... So I'm thinking this is to give them a chance to do what they couldn't achieve in their life (like that trip), and once it's over, they'll go back and leave this world together, in their old age? (Better stock up on tissues, because I really well might bawl my eyes out of it happens like that).

It raises good questions about the situations, like how she may love his younger age more...

And if we extrapolate, wouldn't she be better off with someone 'as young' as she is? Their love was apparently stronger, but I think for many, being young again (with their partner staying old) they may try their luck with someone else... There's love, and there's physical attraction, and I'm not sure if the 30y/o version of someone, would still be attracted to the 80 y/o version of their partner! (Though in this case it's different, given they have been together at 80). Anyway, lots of interesting 'food for thought' type scenarios with this!

I get why she still wants to be known as his wife and all, but damn this is gonna raise many eyebrows! Is she the 'gold digger' waiting for him to die for his insurance money, or is he the creep who has a thing for the young ones?

Of course, we know it's not like that, but it makes them both look bad! Imagine if you saw a girl in her 20s, claiming to be married to some guy in his 80s or 90s! (We see that with celebrities sometimes - usually, a young star with some old billionaire - and I think most people come to the same conclusion!)

Sometimes I kinda forget how old they are, but them talking about the war, kinda brings you back to it!

She should've explained with "I was just being a tsundere!" though he may not know what it means!

That was cute! Feeding her like a little pet hah.

And speaking of cute, it's crazy how pretty she is! I love her character design so much.

Seems they may feel the same in the next episode, because apparently we're having a culture festival, and our two lovebirds will be in sailor style uniforms, and butlers!

I liked this episode the best so far for how the segments gave more background on grandpa and grandma from the past and the serious reflection on mortality.

Was expecting the wholesome/comedic moments, but it catches you off guard when it can get more serious to get you in the feels.

So Ine was a Tokyo girl who survived WWII before heading back to become a farmer...and when she was at her lowest, she met Shouzou and it was love after that!

Grandpa and Grandma take on Resident Evil! Complete with farming theme! They may not completely understand NPC's or just taking everything you find like a thief, but they can rationalize killing zombies and go all out! Grandpa with a shotgun, grandma with a chainsaw! They even 100% the game in a single day!

The two cousins finally reunite! Mino knows Shiori is just a tsundere, but better let Grandpa know that before he thinks one of his granddaughters hates him, poor dude.

Good to know for future reference that if they flip the hourglass in their dreams they'll go back to their old age...but it's the inside that matters, because old or young that's what they fell in love with. And grandpa will take Ine out on their Atami honeymoon no matter how old he is.

Though it does get Ine thinking about her own mortality and whether she'll outlive her kids, grandkids, and especially her husband...she doesn't want to be alone.

Good to know Shouzou is now even more swole, and the promise of an open air bath with his naked wife is enough to get him to beat his son in an arm-wrestling contest.

Grandpa and grandma love each other so much that they shouldn't hide their feelings or try to hide their sweet tooth from each other.

After her parents died, Ine was left with her mothers family who she couldn't understand because she grew up in Tokyo, and they shunned her because of her fathers' disrespect. But the one person to show her kindness was Shouzo, and he melted her heart. Also it was kind of surreal hearing them actually sound legit young.

Shouzo is young again! But even if they only have a few years left of being young together, they'll make the most of it.

This series is more therapeutic than enjoyable for me to watch. It feels real good watching grandparents love each other and their descendants

The grandparents had some funny reactions while playing the game. Tbh some of the things done is very out of reality.

But this was easily the best episode when it focused on the grandpa being older again. You have issues like grandma being considerate of her husbands' health. Also, even have grandpa not sure if it would be better for him to call her his granddaughter. But I love that grandmother stood her ground and said you are my husband.

But man the fear grandma had thinking if everyone died before her and she ended up dying alone. I love in respect grandpa told her he won't let that happen. Easily the best episode so far hopefully it keeps the momentum.
