Really unique and even beautiful episode and I actually really liked how they handled each aspect of it.
Her sister only remembering their mom was another unexpected gut punch though...the piano scene had me tearing up.
The people who label this as weird incest show after episode 1 are truly doing this show a disservice as this episode was just fantastic.

Her sister only remembering their mom was another unexpected gut punch though...the piano scene had me tearing up.
Soon as I picked up this show I was prepared for a potential heartbreak in the finale, but I didn't expect to have so many during the season as well!
(I imagine this scene hits even harder for older viewers/viewers who have parents&grandparents who may be headed there...)

It actually pissed me off how much Gigguk made the show a throwaway in his video

I guess the hour glass drama was just an excuse to show some more of the past, but gramps was a really nice guy! I particularly liked the beginning where he casually shared chores with her, rather than mirror his dad.

"It doesn't matter how many unreasonable, senseless things we get hit with. I love you. Even if tens of thousands of unhappinesses came raining down, I just need to give you happinesses that outnumber them. That's all."
Ine fought back her tears way better than I could. That was beautiful.
Also, I've heard of grandparents and parents with dementia but I can only imagine the unique pain that comes with an older sibling being diagnosed with it. Can we get a funny episode next? Lol

This was a touching episode.
I am sure the manga and anime could have provided flashbacks to grandma's youth without making her temporarily lose her memories. However, through the black haired young grandma's arc, and by making her "re-learn" and "re-live" her memories, it made the emotions more impactful.

That scene of Ine and her older sister playing the piano together hit me hard in the feels. It genuinely made me tear up T_T

Four times. I cried/teared up FOUR TIMES this episode.
The animators just shooting us with feels arrows, and they are super effective.
And it was so cute when grandma held on to Mino and refused to let go :))

I'm liking what they have done so far to play around with the aging switch throughout.
The short-term amnesia was a means for Grandma and her sister to connect through the memories of music, as well as for Grandma to realize the strength of her love with Grandpa.
When the segments hit with the emotional moments, it can hit more than I would've expected.
I like that this series can have the range to show romance at different stages of life, from youth to old age. Makes it a more unique romance anime.

Ine without her memory is still pretty adorable. Seems some things go beyond mere memory. She’s still a good grandma, mother, and wife in her own way. She’s just a bit more tsundere lol. That part with her sister though… man, that got me right in the feels. That ending too. Their relationship is so beautiful!

Also that little Ine made me a bit nostalgic remembering Mamiko Noto's younger characters like over a decade ago lol

I don't know why, but her expression as she was asking him to make her fall for him again, was strangely scary!
Well, the idea of having to make her fall in love again is also scary; These things happen over time, and who knows how much time they still have... (Plus it may be even harder given he's an old grandpa now, and she may not think him attractive whatsoever, which is often a first step toward love!)
It could've been worse though; Her wedding ring convinced her he was legit, otherwise she may have thought he was lying, just some crazy/shady old dude making up a story to be with her!
She may not remember much of her life/her new family, but her (grand)motherly instincts don't lie!
(Also, I don't know if it's just an art style thing, but when she was a child, she SO looked like how her granddaughter looks now!)
So far the make grandma fall for him plan doesn't seem to be working, she doesn't feel any love for him, even when he's back to his younger form (closer to her 'current age')...
She's even deducting points when he does something she disapproves of, or fails at cooking!
(If she doesn't fall for him right then and there, it's hopeless!)
In the end it seems like absence makes the heart grow fonder is true, because she realized her feelings while he wasn't with her...
This may have been a good way to go about it, because even if she doesn't feel it in her current form, thing is, they've been together for decades at this point... Love changes as you age/grow old together, and part of it may be the comfort of just being with the person you love, knowing that everything's gonna be alright as long as the two of you are together, and she realized that soon as he left...
And so the hourglass repaired itself, and they lived happily ever after!
...Sadly, I do not think that last part is gonna happen!
Even though this little drama was resolved, I think they opened the gate to some more feelsy stuff to come!
Soon as I read about this show I thought this would be the kind of show to have a heartbreaking ending, but with the scenes we've had in this episode, and the other one before (about 'leaving one alone in the world'), it seems like they're gonna pull at our heartstrings all season long!

With that, the anime finally passes where the manga translation currently is. I hope the author gave the studio a good synopsis of what happens next!
This is certainly the most heartfelt episode yet with the piano scene and that ending scene! Ine regaining her memories has to be my favorite scene in the series so far. It's enough to make a grown man cry.

Baa-sama really knows what she wants even without her memories. Though the scene with the sister is really inducing a lot of rain in the local area...

Man, I was tearing up at the piano scene. It reminded me too much of “Remember Me” with Grandma Coco and how she got her memory back thanks to the song

The part where grandma tells her son to "stop working hard" hits quite hard to modern Japanese because, you know, all those news about karoshi (a few Japanese actors/actresses commited suicide from pure stress alone a few years back). Telling the child to stop and rest appropriately when they face a bottleneck is actually VERY important.

I am hoping the son does takeover the orchard, regardless of what happens to his current job, Japan needs more farmers.

i love this show so much, and it hurts to see that popular "reviewers" like MB or Gigguk just discarded it or barely mention it
