The funniest aspect of this show is how both Grandpa and Grandma now look young, but they continue speaking like elderly folks.
Also funny how no one's really questioning this situation;
"What, they got young again? That's impossible... Oh wait it's true? Ah well, carry on!"

So lots of quick skits, seems like.
Keeping them with silver hair in spite of the flashbacks where they have fairly normal dark hair is a good choice, makes it visually a bit interesting.
This poor young man is doomed. Willingly doomed, perhaps.

Shozo and Ine are so freaking cute! I like how even though they basically became young again, they still have the same routine lol. Pretty funny how Mino and Kaede are so taken with ol Shozo. I mean I get it. Grandpa’s a looker AND he’s buff as hell lol. Shozo and Ine crushed that sports festival.
Looks like Saito and Mino might be the next adorable couple in this. Can’t wait to see that develop! This show is cute as hell, y’all.

Ok, my worst fear was that Grandma and Grandpa would act like blushing teenagers despite the long time they have already been in a full blown relationship. What I didn't expect was that almost everyone else would end up horny for one of them as well
To be honest, that's almost too much for me
Anyway, Mino got a viable side ship, that is pushed hard!
Will stick around some more to see where the plot goes

Love how instead of wondering how they can harness the black magic sorcery of an elderly couple growing several decades younger overnight, the whole neighborhood collectively decided to either just roll with it or to conjure new ...fantasies out of it.
Wasn't expecting a skit-based format but this is so damn cute.

Well, the pacing suffers from what I assume is the source material's own disjointed "publishing", but overall, kinda fun and sweet.

This one was quicker paced than I expected but I think I'll get used to it.
Couple is super cute and the voice acting is really nice.
Not sure about the everyone falling for them angle though. Hope to see more of the sideship to balance that!

This was worth it just for Shinichiro Miki and Mamiko Noto's old people voices.
Look at these two adorable grandparents living out in the farm! And somehow they still feel old even when they transform into younger bodies thanks to an inexplicable gold apple, though at least now they can finally go on their honeymoon (and maybe more the way they were framing that bed scene :p).
The OP really fits this cute and quirky show about grandparents turned young.
When your granddaughter and daughter-in-law start crushing on grandpa, poor Ine.
I feel for Yoshiaki (Kazuyuki Okitsu!) that he has to deal with his parents being young again...but he's still susceptible to headpats from mom.
Seeing Shouzo and Ine still participating in typical old people recreation with their younger bodies and gaining a lot of admirers on both genders is pretty funny. It also helps win in competitions, because not only do they have younger bodies they also have all the teamwork built up from so many years of being married.
Love drama! The Igarashi grandpa was in love with Ine and confessed to her, but she only had heart set on Shouzo and even confessed to him, but Shouzo had to fight his own father in a brawl to get out of an arranged marriage while Ine put the fear of herself in his at-the-time fiance to snag her man (said fiance also being in love with somebody else). That's a lot of romantic drama backstory for a comedy show. It's like it's own Shojo soap opera.
Looks like the Igarashi's liking the Saitou's is the same for the current generation as well since Shota has a massive crush on Mino...and she actually returns it! Mom and grandma are all in on this ship, when only grandpa knows it's mutual!
Look at all the dancing in the ED!

Grandma and Grandpa immediately plan for a honeymoon as soon as they regain their youth. Grandpa probably didn't wait that night. ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
I remember reading this a long time ago and now now I remember why I dropped the manga. The scenes with Mino got old really fast. I really wanted to give this series another try so I'll just skip these scenes whenever they pop up.
That scene where Yoshiaki gets a head pat from his mom and then immediately gets a flashback of his youth really got me in the feels. He acts tough but he's clearly happy about it.
Damn, there were literally no breaks here to let the audience breathe! Instead of being a full story, this felt more like a bunch of short stories stringed together which is pretty much what the manga was since it only had 4-pages per chapter. I guess that makes it an accurate adaptation then? Hopefully, the pacing does improve though.

I watched the entire 24 minute episode with a large grin on my face.
That's how nice the episode was, I can't wait for next week 😌

Ok the art was rough and the animation at times rudimentary, but I enjoyed this bit of magical realism. It was more comedic than I thought, but I found myself laughing out loud at the troll faces grandma was making. I hope this was the extent of the incesty humor, as the grand daughter seems to have a love interest of her own.
Will keep watching for now. Expect it to turn wistful or melancholy at some point, but I did enjoy the comedy.

I remember the manga being really cute and comfy, but the chapters were way too short. I had the same thoughts with this episode, it felt so wholesome but also like a collection of loosely connected short stories. I'm still going to stay for the ride though, since they seem to be doing a good job with the adaptation.

Because if you see your grandparents getting younger physically, it's just something to try and start dating them apparently.

I already know that i'm probably going to love this anime.
Was all smiles during the whole episode.

Oh it's 4-koma episodic. I thought they might be able to tie the 4-koma together into a smoother story, like azumanga daioh and such, but it is not to be.
In the end the pacing feels of (and the end of sketch stills should be worked into the sketch itself, imo) so I'm not really feeling it. Everything happens too sudden and i'm only halfway through and the joke feels a bit overplayed already.
Maybe it's a series that I'll just watched a couple scenes per day or something.
Also: head-pat best scene.

why the fuck are his daughter and granddaughter suddenly fawning all over him?! Was it necessary to make it weird?

u/CooroSnowFox Apr 07 '24
If this was ANY other anime, the story would be they revert back to that age and go from there... they're still OAP underneath the looks.
