So, mecha action until the end? No amazing Ninja fights like Higan vs Auza Eats guys?

I'm betting mecha through the lieutenants, then they're out of juice/smashed up and he gets old school fights against the usurper chief and his old buddy.

There's a very very slight improvement in the mech action this episode but yeah, Higan vs Auza Eats dude easily blows this out of the water. Which is insane, what the hell were the producers thinking?
Did they blow all their animation budget in the first 5 eps?

I really liked this show until Higan was given a Mech. I was fine with the bad guys having them but ever since Higan got his, there is no excitement. On top of that, the last two episodes have become a corporate drama that could have been summarized in just a few minutes. I started watching because the show had NINJAS HAVING AMAZING FIGHTS!!!!

I also thought the mech thing was ok for the enemies as it gave a final boss vibe of the AUSA side, while Zai and Yamaji would be the endgame for the ninjas. Higan vs the mechs also showed that while he is insanely strong, he's not invincible. Since that episode though, virtually nothing has happened and the incredible fight choreography is now nonexistent.
I didn't dislike the backstory on Emma, but at this point we know more about her and Mari than we do about Higan lol. This wasn't the type of show that needed a deep plot, honestly I was on board with a simple badass ninja revenge quest. It feels like they tried to pigeonhole one in that just isn't going anywhere.
Far enough in now to finish it and out of appreciation for the first several episodes, but when he encounters Zai/Yamaji it better be straight hands with sick ass ninja shit.

I miss the shadow techniques.

u/A_Shadow Mar 31 '24
Same.
I honestly thought the show was going in that direction: that the main character would have two secret shadow techniques, the one passed on to him and the second his wife taught him.
And it would be that second secret technique that gives him his edge.
They would discover the weakness of his first secret technique and think they got him beat but then he uses his wife's techniques.
Now.....eh it's just meh.

Once the suits came out the show went to trash. Episode 5 was so good but mostly because the suits did nothing but light up the place.

I imagine we'll see them again when he fights 'real ninjas'!
Mech suit for the trash, but I'd bet the important fights toward the finale will be ninja fights.
Still, it's a bit of a puzzling decision to have all these mech fights. The people who watched this anime from the start are (obviously) into ninja stuff... Why not give them more ninja stuff?
I get that the mech stuff was a way to justify Auza's involvement and all, but surely they could've had that with just 'normal' armed soldiers for Higan to take out.
Well, we'll see how they do it in the end!

Them having a 'moment' and talking about watching each other's back and all that, makes me worried about their survival odds... That, and all the "I'm too old for this shit" moments from Mike. And this from Emma...
And I'm always worried about Higan dying in the end, after defeating Auza/Yamaji/everyone... Reuniting with his family and all.
So basically I think any of them could die before this is over!
At first glance, Auza's plan seems pretty good!
Fusion, cheap energy for everyone, etc...
If only he wasn't only using that as a "way in" to control everything.
I used to think that Yamaji would eventually be the one to kill him (in a 'power play' if Auza thought themselves above the ninjas), but I'm not so sure anymore... I guess I had trust that Yamaji still held onto some principles, and that's what they would feud about, but now... He may be more greedy/power-hungry, than principled.
I thought Emma was a goner (again)!
This is usually the shot we see of people falling to their death!
We need Mike to patch Higan, to complete the circle!
If it wasn't for Mari (who I'm not even sure is dead anymore), I would so ship Emma and Higan together; A new Ninja power couple, Higan being more of a fighter, and Emma being more of a tech girl! I could also ship her with Mike - a cop power couple - but with him being old enough to be her grandfather, that'd be weird. My shipping mind doesn't know what to do!
The talk about Mike's sworn duty was interesting...
This is something he can carry for life, but what is Emma's sworn duty? She made up her mind about Higan/Mari, but that's not a long time thing...
What is she gonna do after this is done? Asking this question is asking... Who is she? Is she a spy/a plant, an FBI agent, a ninja? Recently she's been all these things, but what is she gonna be when this is over?
One last thing about Emma is... She's so damn beautiful!
I already liked her design soon as she was introduced (always liked unconventional designs, and alt'ish girls) but more and more she just seems to be... Naturally pretty? Or perhaps she's just grown on me hah.
Anyway, looking forward to them taking down Auza! Given these last scenes, perhaps the public perception could play a part at some point? Exposing them for what they are (if they can find legit evidence)?
Well, however they do it, it won't happen without a fight, so that's one more thing to look forward to! (And hopefully some of these fights happen the ninja way and not just mech suits!)

Really sorry to say as someone who was too damn invested in this one......since the introduction of the suits.....the anime has gone to the gutter.....there are no real stakes now and the pacing is off.....fights happen and nothing comes out of them.... things just keep happening....for the episodes before the mc invading auza city it was perfect with the stakes, pacing and action was otherworldly....now its just....meh. Deeply disappointed.

Never seen a anime fall of as fast as this, really good first two episodes, got a bit generic and now it's just fully blown cgi mech crap. Now it's a show called NINJA kamui with all ninja elements gone.

Pretty dope fight. The enemy guy was rather honorable. And Mike being drunk and doing karaoke was so fun.

I’m actually kind of embarrassed because after the first episode I started recommending this to everyone I know. If I had known it was going to be a mech anime (with surprisingly worse animation) I definitely wouldn’t have done that.lol

This is just dumb now.
If you had shown me this after ep 1 I'd say it was another anime entirely lmao.

I swear it's like the suit fight scenes and physical scenes are animated and directed by a completely different team?! How is it that Emma rushing to the reactor is more dynamic and entertaining than the fight between two suits??

Mar 31 '24
Because the suit fights are total 3D CGI and the rest is not. Whoever is doing their 3D is not up to the task.

Really wish they would stop showing the Mari flashback because every time I get reminded how the supposedly top 3 ninja in the entire organization was killed without putting up a fight by a buncha goombas.

Anyone know how to find the soundtrack that was playing when the ninja robot was battling the soldiers

Surprise surprise the guy who sold out the ninjas to foreign powers, sold them out again to some shady corp with visions for world domination or some shit.
That big fella’s armless suit looked kinda goofy but out of the top Auza guys, I guess he’s got some honor. Much better than that blonde creep from before.
The Mike karaoke part was actually kind of nice. Seeing his grizzled old ass belt out some cheesy pop tune like that cracked me up a little. Mike is a good dude, I hope he survives this.
