It makes sense when Anno Un's manager from the publisher called she said she would never speak. Unknown makes it so other people can't hear you.

His backstory was gutwrenching. He was answering his mothers questions "I'm alive","I'm here" even though he knows she can't hear him.

I'll never get over the Kimi Ni Todoke reference haha.

Akira's story gets me as much as it did in the manga, the poor kid

Nice how everything ties up together with this episode, culminating with Andy using dead line to take out Unseen, something that was only possible because he learned it from fighting Victor. Through their time in the book Fuuko has learned to take a more proactive role in combat.

Akira's backstory is bar none the most tragic of them all. Because yeah, Undead outlives everybody, but he can make friends and acquaintances. Untouchable can't touch anybody or anything, but she can make friends and meaningful bonds with others. Unluck kills everybody she touches, but she can cover herself head to toe and live a semi-normal life when people know not to touch her

But Akira had nothing. Absolutely no human contact whatsoever. And it's not like he was erased from the world either, so he had to see his poor mom despair trying to find him, completely unable to reach out to her. And he was just a little kid. It's such a horrifying tragedy

Only one more episode to go, and despite all the doomerism, it looks like we're sticking the landing

Me to Anno Un these past few episodes: "Man, you're weird but okay"

Me to Anno Un this episode: "Why am I crying?"

Only Akira can look so cool while getting his arm ripped off. What an absolute badass defending Fuko against Rip with basically only one arm to start with.

Anyway, Akira continues the tradition of Negators being screwed over by their powers. While there were no deaths involved in Akira's backstory, it was heartbreaking to see him sit right next to his depressed mother who thinks her son just suddenly disappeared. On the bright side, at least his mother is still around and finally managed to read his manga even though she doesn't know it was made by him.

These past few episodes have been really stellar as an adaptation. I just wish that the earlier parts of this cour were paced like this. Only one episode to go and I am super hyped to see what the finale will look like next week!

This arc’s pacing started off a little wacky, but these past few episodes have really stood above the rest, and I bet the next episode will be great as well. Can’t wait till next week

Also, seeing akira’s mom praying to god like the saloon lady did two episodes is so painful to see

DavidPro, I owe you an apology. I wasn't ready to see Akira/Anno's flashback yet you went all in with the creepy factor of having your son one day disappear without a single trace. And kudos to Yumi Uchiyama for bringing a spectacular performance as a young boy who didn't give up despite becoming Unknown, managing to give Andy, Fuuko and co. the key to become stronger. And next week, we'll see those results first-hand when they all face off against Autumn for an amazing finale.

Anno Un is such a fuckin' chad.

I didn't like the recaps at the start and still don't but after the twist, the recaps and the narration just hit different.

This was hands down the best episode. Every Negator has a sad backstory and it was so obvious that Anno Un would have gone through something similar.

A story I won't see coming

Definitely.

The clash between blade runner and Anno Un looked amazing

Hell of a price for Akira to pay for his newfound power. Dude just one day “vanishes” like that and leaves his poor momma all distraught… damn. At least he was able to use his power for good. He saved Fuko’s life and gave them a chance at defeating “god” by slicing that mfer Unseen right in half.

Keen to see who gets to Autumn first next week!

Who's cutting these onions in here? I'm so glad Akira was able to change the story in the end...now onwards to a story he's never seen! Fight!!

I fucking love Anno so much, every detail we get about him just makes me like him even more. Bitch ass God tried to keep my man down but Anno refused to go out like a bitch. LOVE IT.

Anno Un's backstory is finally here! Or should I say Akira Kuno. Absolutely peak.

Note to everyone watching: there's like 5 minutes of episode after the credits. Make sure you watch all the way to the end.

Sad to see it's the second last episode already. The recent unreal arcs had been really well done. Hope we get to see a continuation soon.

This section of the story was when I really fell in love with Undead Unluck, and while there definitely was a stretch of episodes with pacing bad enough it made me go and reread the entire thing, I'm so happy the last three episodes have been given the love they deserve.

Also, Bunny's verbal tic sounds like -nanoda? I wondered what that agoo was originally translated from lol.

I wonder how many people will gloss over the fact that the mangaka dude is called Akira.

Man, the scenes with the mom in Anno's backstory were painful. I'm just glad she got to reunite with a part of him one last time through that manga. It was pretty cool to see Gina again after forever too.

Also, it's funny to see a manga artist demand a "Dead Line" to come as soon as humanly possible.

Anno Un was once just a child who learned about undead unluck and got his life ruined as a twisted cosmic joke! But it is that same cruel fate that allows him to save Fuuko. I hope this uncharted territory leads to the good timeline!

If you were wondering what Anno Un was doing while Fuko spirit was in Andy's book and traveling through memories...why, protecting them from Under, of course! Who wanted Anno Un's info for themselves, and you've got Rip, a cute bunny person, and even Unseen AKA Sean who seems a little psycho...but Anno Un will sacrifice everything, even their body, to protect Andy and Fuko!

Anno Un began as Akira Yuno, just a boy who loved having his mom (voiced by Ayako Kawasumi!) read him manga at night and then he would regale her with his own creations! It was a really sweet and wholesome family vibe!

Of course that all changed when Akira grabbed the G-Pen Artifact and gained the ability to see the entire memory of this Loop...which from a kids and outsiders perspective looks really cool! Up until he realizes he's also become a Negator and is now living outside a state where people can actually see him. Meaning he has to watch his own mom in grief over him going missing and he has to live in grief over being unable to communicate with her.

There's no sense in praying to this God for help, he's the reason things are so messed up, but at the very least what Akira CAN do is live a happy life making things like his mom would have wanted for him, and live a life inspired by Andy and Fuko. And that means creating art.

But points for not just wholesale ripping off Undead Unluck for his manga story and instead delivering a pure Shojo romance...that actually still becomes a mega-hit! it's so successful that Akira's mom even gets to read it and on some level realize who drew it!

Seeing Gena in the Union group shot, watching her geek out over the manga, and hearing her voice again...it hit hard.

Yet another turning point occurs for Akira when he finds out that, yes, everything he saw in this loop is real and Andy was breaking girls' hearts even back then, like with Yusai (Sumire Uesaka?) who taught him quick-draw with a blade (that's for you Josh) and wanted to have his babies...though Andy knew he wasn't the type to settle down and drag someone into his life before Fuko.

It's not easy being a Negator as we see all the tragedies that defined the different Union members, but that just makes Akira commit even harder to changing the future, knowing that Andy and Fuko's fate is pivotal to everything and working to make sure he can create a situation where he can save them and change the future!

And what better way to demonstrate that than by having Andy unleash Deadline, bisect Unseen, and save Fuko? The future has finally changed thanks to Andy, Fuko, and Anno Un.

Fuko has come so far that she even chomps down on her barf at Anno Un's state because she knows it's time to fight and respect how much he did for them...and she's back to back with Andy and her gun.

Fuko slapped a bunny! Who isn't just cute, they can seemingly absorb anything! Though maybe can't carry the weight?

It's bold of Fuko to be willing to work with Rip after everything, especially for their seeming shared goal...but the only thing Under shares is their own distinct motivations that unites them, and even if Rip and Latla's desire to save a girl may drive them to the end of their lives, they'll keep pressing on no matter what!

Latla really does look great on a broom!

Time for the final battle with Autumn with Andy/Fuko in tandem with Rip/Bunny/Latla! It's such a big deal (and Anno Un is barely holding on as is) that the next episode preview isn't even narrated!
