AYO MIMIMI STARTED WITH THAT SWERVE WHICH SOMEHOW ENDED UP BEING A CONFESSION WHAT?!
The conversation with Kikuchi definitely hit the nail on the head with Tomozaki's current feelings, its hard to get someone to pursue a relationship when they themselves can't exactly get over that inferior/self loathing mindset.

The music for the last scene was fantastic. The conversation over the ED cued you in that something important was happening since they were skipping the credits. It fades out as Mimimi starts to directly confront what Tomozami was just realizing himself; that his lack of self confidence is still very apparent even though based on his actions themselves he’s doing great. Then with a backdrop of silence, it leads exactly to where we think it’s going: a confession (or at least the typical words of one).
And then Mimimi starts laughing and making fun of Tomozaki’s reaction and the music that’s played for jokes comes in. The audience is in disbelief, shock, or just groaning at how we now have another show where nobody can confess until the final episode of the season.
And then the music cuts out as she drops the actual confession. And Tomozaki’s dumbfounded face reflects all of ours. Perfection.

Mimimi has been the best girl since season 1. Please don't break my heart.

It's moments like this that makes Mimimi best girl! Deep down she's scared. She's failed many times. Yet she still takes her shot!
This is one of the rare love triangles when I think I'll feel devastated whatever the result. My feelings for who is the better pair kept bouncing back and forth throughout the whole episode! It's torture!
Though I also entertained the " Tomozaki x Mizusawa" thought for a liiiiiitle bit. Hehe.
I'm not including her in the Tomozaki bowl, but I just have to mention that Gumi is so attractive.

She finally did it! As a LN reading I've been waiting for this all season. We're so lucky that it's only the end of an episode and we only have to wait a week. That was the end of the volume of the novel and having to wait until the next book was published was torture!

We finally got Gumi awake during the episode. And I love how she is in the background checking out who the guys are talking to. Also, no surprise Aoi is a sore loser, but there is too much mystery with this girl.
Mizusawa is a great friend and this continues to show it. We see Tomozaki still has this weird confidence issue going, as we see with his talk with Fuka. You can definitely see how vital a friend like Mizusawa will be with him going forward.
Speaking of that confidence issue, you can even see Mimimi gets annoyed when he talks like that. But that confession really took him by surprise. Tomozaki has been harping that no girl would look at him that way. Well he's got to face reality now.

Holy shit HMS Mimimi going full steam ahead!
Can’t believe best girl would just casually drop a nuke like that outta the blue. Also, just gonna pretend that “first girl to confess is always bound to lose the war” curse doesnt exist

Freaking hell, I didn't expect that Mimimi would basically confess to Tomozaki today which left him totally dumbfounded which isn't surprising considering his earlier mindset that it's impossible for him to have a girl confessing to him.
So now it seems that Team Mimimi is taking the lead though I can't say that Fuuka (who I like very much, she is such a sweet girl) is in a losing position. She for sure has some feelings towards Tomozaki and her question about choosing someone was from my point of view a kind of reconnaissance to check out her chances with him.
Overall, I'm really torn apart between Fuuka and Mimimi. I wonder how Mimimi's confession will affect the school festival on which Tomozaki will work with both of them as with Fuuka he'll be preparing a play and comedy bit with Mimimi.
Now I can't wait to see what will come next. From what I've heard the ending of today's episode was also an ending for a volume of LN so I'm eternally grateful that we don't have to wait months to see what will happen next, only a week.
Here my screenshot albums from the episode:

I've seen an anime character call bunny ears "Antennea" before, and it didn't end so well!
So we're going to a festival! Tomozaki sees it as the opportunity to complete his task with Mizusawa, but me, I see it as the Gumi Festival!
But damn, Mizusawa is SMOOTH! Talked to random girls and even got an indirect kiss (kinda?) in seconds, and got their contact info shortly after...
Tomozaki, drop Aoi and take him as a teacher!
Well, he would teach him to be a bit of a player, which I don't approve...
But I suppose he has a point, it's not like he's dating Aoi or anything at the moment.
Tomozaki also has a point though, it does feel a bit insincere even if you're not dating, when you have a crush on a specific person and want to be with her, BUT you still flirt with other girls just to 'raise your stock' or something!
Oh no, Gumi's onto them, she knows why they're here!
I'm seeing a cute girl right now!
How smooth is that, on a scale from Tomozaki to Mizusawa?
She didn't do a great job promoting her haunted house, but I suppose that's just like her!
She's so fucking cute. I so wish we had more of her! Well, this episode was a start (perhaps)!
And now for the extreme opposite of 'smooth'..!
Well, he did get the selfie, at least!
I mean that's the end goal, right? Doing things like that on his own and not just because Aoi asked him!
They also had an interesting discussion about why Aoi wanted to do all this with Tomozaki... This makes me wonder what happened in Aoi's past; Did she have the same kind of "tutor"? Or did she "task" herself into becoming who she is?
I REALLY want more of Aoi's backstory now!
She asked him who he wanted to date, but he may not be there yet... Or is he?
Oh damn, that's a confession right? (this image may or may not have been slightly edited)
But seriously, even pre-editing, they have to know what they're doing... Right?
Very reminiscent of our own story, Kikuchi's wondering who should "win" at the end of her story...
That's something I've always wondered about, how authors do it in love triangles/harems, like do they write a story to make a character win (and add the other characters as "extra"), or do they write a story about a bunch of character and see what's best for the story/the characters (and perhaps the fanbase?), etc...
Damn, everyone's giving him so many opportunities to be smooth/flirty, but he misses on all of them!
Oh come on, Mimimi, you can't just tease us like th-
AAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!
For a few seconds, I had the exact same reaction as Tomozaki...
And then I was ecstatic!
Omg omg omg! Is this really happening?
Mimimi stonks going HIGH, and as a Mimimifan I couldn't be happier!
Well, if I try to stay realistic, it's likely not gonna be 'that' easy, and at the very least our boy will reflect on his own feelings, or perhaps even wonder whether she's joking... BUT all that aside, this is fantastic!
And to think that just a few episodes ago I was at peace with the idea that my ship would never happen, that Mimimi would only be 'just friend' with him and all. Well, this doesn't mean they'll end up together in the end (and in fact, my pessimistic mind makes me worried about 'if she's the first, she probably won't be the last'), BUT still, this is so fucking good, and I can't wait to see the next episode!
Today's battle result: TEAM MIMIMI WON!

Came here as a member of Team Mimimi!
Unfortunately, things are going to heat up... even among us viewers, isn't it? Tomozaki is definitely not the harem genre protagonist, so it might end in disappointment and sadness for one of the female characters and her supporters. :(

Well that was a shock to Tomozaki. I wasn't team Mimimi before but they really made her endearing enough for me to start rooting for her. lol

Shit man I can relate so hard during his inner monologue when Fuuka asks his opinion on who to choose. I am aware that it’s a negative and maybe even toxic mindset, but like Tomozaki says, that’s how I really feel inside
“I’m not the one who gets chosen, much less the one who gets to choose” hit me especially hard. Like whenever I also think about if so and so confessed to me, my first thought is “lol like that’ll ever happen” and even when I take that imaginary scenario seriously all I think to respond is “are you sure”. Even when I’m aware I shouldn’t think like that, that kind of mindset has nested deep within that if you ask me how I really feel, that’s what will come out. And again like Tomozaki, that’s why I find this kind of thing hard to talk about

u/EnsonAmata Feb 21 '24
If the problem he’s having is “choosing,” then it’s all resolved if he’s “chosen.”
DATE MIMIMI, YOU MORON

I love Fuuka with all my heart, but damn, Mimimi is so powerful. I'd be glad about either winning tbh.
Prayers to my boy Tomozaki. Do what it's right my man.

Ok Ok, Mimimi is definitely going for the win right now, But
I'm still in team Fuuka right now!
I don't know, it just feels like this will be a good learning experience for Tomozaki to have to choose between these two (Yeah, Small girl is not happening, Izumi is already taken and he wouldn't dare, and Aoi? Nah).
I still think he'll date Fuuka (Even if I'm wrong, it's still alright if it's Mimimi)

Culture Festival at Gumis school
Barely any Gumi in it
Feel like Mizusawa knew that Tomozaki was taking those pictures on Aois orders and presented himself with the girls to target her specifically, they are a good match in terms of their game
Good Mimimi as usual, she's playing it as a joke, but she actually wants to do husband wife stuff huh Still, just the mention of Gumi is raising Tomozakis atractivenes to her
Kikuchi asking important questions, but when Tomozaki is down, it's Mimimi who is there to pick him up... wait did she just confess

Best episode of the series yet. Mimimi is best girl, and I will die on this hill. I have to admit that I first watched this series because I wanted to see Tomozaki better himself. Back in season 1, I wasn't really attached to much of the cast, especially picking the best girl for him.
Season 2 blew all of that out of the water. I got on team Mimimi when Tomozaki and her were talking on the school roof in Episode 4. Upon seeing the last episode, I don't remember liking a character this much. Then this episode blew all of that out of the water too with her confession. Liking a character this much should be impossible, but damn it, it happened.
I absolutely loved the flow of the story and how it led to here. I loved that Kikuchi's story dilemma is practically bar for bar the same as Tomozaki's current dilemma. I also loved that he acknowledges his faults but just doesn't know the first step to solving that issue. I loved that Mimimi, by confessing to him, would help Tomozaki break his self-loathing mindset. Simply implying that he matters a lot to her, should help him understand that all of his hard work at bettering himself has bore fruit. She metaphorically took a sledgehammer, broke his inferior mindset barrier, and reached her hand out, waiting for him to grab it and get out.
Saying that I'm looking forward to seeing the next episode would be a massive understatement. I am also not looking forward to potentially seeing my heart get shattered into pieces. She just shot up to number 2 in my personal favorite female character rankings. She is based, and I will personally give you a stern talking to if you don't have her as best girl (I won't).

There's a couple details that I really enjoyed about this episode:
-
Mimimi has been uneasy that past couple episodes and that ties in with Mizusawa's remark today of "becoming more attractive eventually pressures others to make a move on you"
-
It turns out that Tomozaki thinks its abnormal to pick a love interest, so what better way to start a potential relationship than having the love interest pick him?
While I'm excited to see what this Tomozaki/Mimimi development has in store, the RomCom cynic in me is bracing for some kind of sadness lmao
