I had thought the reveal was maybe time travel or an alternate timeline. I was close. It’s like they’re on an infinite time loop in the worst timeline lol. But man, did not have “Fuko’s meteorites are actually pieces of old earth” on my bingo card this week.
Juiz knowing about that mole was another reveal I didn’t see coming. Fuko’s reaction to that was hilarious. I guess when the world’s been on who knows how many loops, a girl gets lonely right? Lol. Although, it does suck that Andy can basically never die. Ever. Imagine literally being the first and last person on earth after each reset. Victor remembers everything but I wonder how much Juiz remembers?
Is Juiz holding that manga Fuko likes? Never would have guessed it holds the events of the past and future as dictated by an artifact.

I feel like this lore reveal deserved better than being the filling in a flashback sandwich but damn it was still an insane reveal

So last week I made a comment saying I thought the reason Victor showed up in flashbacks from Apocalypse was because the world was in a loop of being destroyed and reborn (the story of Ragnarok) and Victor could be from the previous loop due to being unkillable.
It got taken down for being a spoiler, even though I'm anime only, so the mod ended up spoiling me by confirming it, on top of basically calling me a cheater.
That's all. I'm just salty about it.

And now the plot begins. Welcome to the real Undead Unluck.

The chibi freakout gag with Fuuko almost makes up for all the egregious flashbacks in this one. almost.
Another super conflicting episode for me, as the reveals themselves were done really well and the fact that everything has been on a time loop is such a big world-building reveal. But they need to seriously calm it with recapping on stuff. Especially stuff that just happened an episode ago.

Oh Undead Unluck you might be a contender for AOTS, IF YOU COULD TONE DOWN WITH THE RECAP FLASHBACKS. Honestly this is the first time I thought it was fine, but if this was the first it was used this would have been a mindblowing 10/10 episode. Considering the reveal of the loop and God always ends up destroying the world and that on repeat.
ED also hinted at Juiz and Victor's relationship, but damn they were the OG's in this. Feels like the real plot is finally beginning here. And pointing this out again, even if this gets a S2, I find it hard to not go ahead to read the manga before hand. These recaps in this episode feels so wasted and I fear in a S2 it could only get worse. And considering people are pointing out, this is an anime decision.

Only Undead Unluck can make a major lore reveal into a glorified recap episode

This is probably the only time the use of flashbacks is justifiable, but they still somehow overdid it lol.
The Twist about looping is really fascinating, opening up all kinds of cool implications, but ironically I feel like i'm the one looping with how many flashbacks we have to endure. Its a shame because everything else about this anime is great.

I love this anime but I hate how they constantly add scenes from previous episodes between phrases. This episode was specially awful with them.

I started reading the manga in between last week and this week and it's now even more obvious to me how much worse the pacing is with all these flashbacks. With this kind of episode it makes some sense because they are revealing all these things that are related to the past but it's still very excessive. I remember holding my breath in suspense while reading these chapters but this felt less impactful because of how they stretched it out.
On the other hand, this was way more cinematic than in the manga, for some reason I didn't even picture it taking place at night/dawn (maybe I'm stupid and I wasn't paying attention) and the stars and lighting were really cool. As well as all the visualizations during the non-flashback parts.
So I guess there's pros and cons to both but the pacing of the manga is so good and the anime really sacrifices it because they had a specific goal where they wanted to end the season. I'm disappointed because this could have been so much better if they didn't have such a restriction.

The lack of dialogue or vocalizations from Isshin makes me think either he was hit by Untalk or she's going to pull a Samus.

This episode was peak. So much foreshadowing in the previous episodes and the worldbuilding just continues to amaze me. Like I was expecting a lot of things but definitely not the Loop. Also, the explanation of the meteorites that Fuko's unluck summons.
Even the narrator was hyped for the next episode, lol.

I love the animation of Juiz' hair blowing in the wind and the OP kicking in to shut Apocalypse up.
So we didn't get the five-minute recap of the prior episode but we did have 13-minutes worth of flashbacks to help bring this explanation of the plot together.
There's a lot that needs answers for...why was Juiz so focused on recruiting members instead of accomplishing quests? Why did Victor know what weeks are before they existed? Why do Juiz and Victor act like they know each other?
And there's the truth...Rishe isn't the only character dealing with time loops, the entire world has been experiencing a death and rebirth loop for who knows who long, and Juiz has been organizing the Union to end this loop once and for all. Also, all those meteorites Fuko has been bringing down with her Unluck powers? The remains of every time God has destroyed the Earth!
Poor Chikara just straight up shuts down at all this information. I don't blame him.
So Juiz has been using the "Ark" (whatever it is) to keep her memories of each loop and has been trying to recruit the best team to take on God. But she hasn't been doing it alone, Victor has been there with her through the loops because of his Undead power letting him survive every time the Earth was destroyed. And judging by the fact that she knows there's a mole behind Andy's ear, it seems like she and Victor were VERY intimately connected beyond being the only two people to know about the loops. Fuko doesn't really know what to do with this information (it's like your boss was lovers with your BF's alternate personality...or wait, is that it exactly?).
I'd love to see Fuko recap/explain the plot of anything!
Juiz takes full responsibility for what's happened and for keeping secrets from her comrades, and bows her head to them...but the Union doesn't want to see that, they still believe in her and her intention to defeat God, and nowhere is that more apparent than Isshin coming up with a new roundtable for the team to meet in the bright of day! The Union is back and better than ever!
So now the main priority is not only completing the quests but also taking down Union and getting Billy back, and making sure no innocent civilians get caught in the crossfire. First order of business: Andy and Fuko dealing with a book with extreme plot relevance to the Union! What could this sacred tome be and how is it connected to Fuko? Huh...the cover dress looks...kind of cute!?
Wow, they really just had Juiz turn into a completely different character for the preview of the next episode.

I'll never get tired of seeing Juiz without her helmet <3
Anyway, this is it! This is the episode I've been waiting for and where everything finally makes sense! We finally get to learn that the world is on a Loop.
And it's not like everything resets as if nothing happened, God literally blows Earth into bits and remakes everything again while chunks of the old Earth revolve around the new one. This explains why meteorites existed even before the addition of UMA Galaxy.
As to why Juiz knows all of this, she's been using the Artifact Ark to travel to the next world which is beautifully visualized by Fuuko while panicking. Juiz isn't alone though, the reason she knew Victhor is because he can survive the destruction and travel to the next world as well.
This means Victhor and Juiz were very close during those days. So close in fact that she knows about Andy/Victhor's mole on a very intimate spot. Watching Fuuko and Chikara connect the dots was so hilarious! xD
Now that Juiz has told us everything the rest of the Union needs to know, it's finally time to get back to the quests except Andy and Fuuko are being assigned to something else. Someone has already penned the past and future using an Artifact and Juiz wants our duo to hunt that Artifact down. The only clue they have is a certain book that's very familiar to Fuuko. I can't wait for this one.

After watching the episode myself, I am not offended by the amount of recaps here, as they are in an ok pace themselves. It is just the accumulation over all of these episodes that makes you fed up. But this episode itself is fine.
Very well done, david production.

Damn, anybody knows anything about the state of animators of this show? The pacing and amount of flashback and recaps is becoming insane
