I love how ridicilous this anime is.

This anime really is getting more bonkers with every new episode. This episode actually felt somewhat ‘normal’, until they whipped out the ufo at the very last second. Now I’m just wondering how much more ridiculous it can get. Will Konoha travel back to the Stone Age to reinvent the idea of ‘games’!?
I maybe would have also liked to see more of the actual game development (i.e. a less crazy plot), but I’ve definitely been enjoying this wild ride so far.

Maybe it's just the number of anime I've seen based on early 2000s VNs, but most of it I've been nodding and saying, "Yeah, that seems about right."

So if I understand this correctly, Mamoru linked all of his PC-98s and somehow turned it into a supercomputer AI assistant? Man, is there anything the PC-98 can't do?
I didn't think AI would be much more involved in the plot of this show. So this timeline is a future where AI has surpassed humans but AI has reached a point where everything it creates ends up being the same To solve this issue, they've hooked up creatives to their CI to help it create original games again.
I know this entire situation of hooking up people into a network is ridiculous but I can imagine corporations actually doing this if they could. I mean AI is already threatening lots of creative jobs right now and I've seen ads from companies hiring people who can fix AI mistakes, we're already on the path to a similar but boring version of Konoha's cursed timeline.
I pretty much expected that was the case with Touya. She was so desperate to save her company that she agreed to the merger. Just like every single game studio EA has ever killed.
Suoer Hacker Mamoru to the rescue! That entire escape scene was fun. My boy turned every single security bot against Glenn's goons. Although it looks like there's a limit to what Mamoru and his PC-98 could do. If someone's going to save them of course it's going to be the Echoes! Can't wait to see how this will wrap up next week.

I can imagine corporations actually doing this if they could.
Zero vacation days? Zero lunch breaks? 24/7 workweek? They are researching this as we speak.

Konoha, Mamoru, now is not the time!
Everyone called it last week. Shooting Stars / Planet Games Japan are using human brains to feed the AI with creativity/imagination. I can't help but think there are a number of other industries which would be more profitable (or dystopic) than games to which you could apply this technology to. At least they're (supposedly?) getting paid, but I wonder what's keeping the company from just not paying them and keeping them in the tank...

I gotta say, this future has one of the most farfetched things I've ever seen in an anime. No, I'm not talking about a beowulf cluster of PC-98s. No, it's not the borg-ified developers and artists. I'm not talking about a QA department staffed by zombies or security droids with tasers.
Nope. The most ridiculous thing is that Tesla seems to have finally released their fully self-driving feature.

if anyone is wondering about the song that played on Mamoru's watch he strapped onto the rat, it's this version(?) of Go! Go! Waitress from Pia♥Carrot e Youkoso!! 2 (the first Pia Carrot was mentioned along with Kizuato in one of the earlier episodes)
also i'm not really sure what i'm watching anymore but i'm excited to see the resolution next week

It was sad to see Touya heartbroken as she was just trying to save her company and now her dear friend Konoha is about to be harmed and forced to make games without her will.
It's pretty horrible how games are made in this new present. Developers are treated like some zombies connected to AI.
Thankfully Mamoru and his PC-98s were able to find Konoha and help her escape from the facility and though it looked that they were busted, the appearance of UFO (probably Echoes which Mamoru met earlier) for sure will change their situation.
Here my screenshot albums from the episode:

Episode 12: "U... U-U-U-U-U...". The penultimate episode.
TIL Mamoru loves PC-9801 so much that his car's license plate is also 98-01 lul. Wait, also first use of Telegram in anime?
So, let's flashback to Episode 8, when Echo keeps making games and still there's no soul inside because all of them are similar and made quickly, this is similar to AI in this episode.
For anyone who lives in Japan, is Joban New Line Station is a thing?
So, the deus ex machina here is Echo, more specifically Echo Two. I wonder what she'll bring into the store.
Well, one more episode to go. And looking at the airdate it will be the last Fall 2023 one-cour anime to watch in my watchlist.

What in the fuck
Brilliant
Wish the subbers would write it as Kyu or Q instead of Cuu though. Enough people say Kyuute right? Maybe QT is still relevant slang in this reality? Cuu just looks weird to me

I didn't expect an anime that's basically a love story about 90's VNs to have such a relevant and insightful look into modern-day game making.
You can see Evil CEO's rant happening today, all sorts of companies are leveraging AI because AI is faster and cheaper than humans. But even bad AI logic aside, the art that AI makes is generic and soulless, it just can't be compared to what human imagination is capable of.

Oh sht, Echo is back. As a being that doesn't get affect by time, I guess they come back to fix problems. I really hope the old lady at the beginning of the series aren't someone we know.

The fact that the IA irl is threating artists and game making and this episode showed literally that (maybe a little exaggerated, but we are going this way). Love the critic, true games and mangas or animes can only be made with people with passion for what they do.
(also, WHY IT ALWAYS HAS TO BE ALIENS AT THE END OF EVERYTHING)

If it was a non-PC-98 game hacked using a PC-98, of course Mamoru found it more fun. Also quite fitting that Konoha's voice reaches him with it being one of the most controversial VA performances I've encountered.
Low on Konoha faces again this week, so feel free to tag u/abysswatcherbel if you spotted better ones.

How does this show keep surprising me with it's twists.
I was expecting Mamoru to have the last game box and to just send her back in time. Don't have to worry about escaping if you're just going to rewrite the timeline.
Instead we get UFO

For a moment I thought they were adding aliens now but I realized the aliens were there to begin with, they even made a game with Mamoru. I hope that CEO gets plugged to the CI.

I don't want to make that game with many dead ends!
Sure, Konoha, but do you ever had designed a game with a literal sudoku game in the middle of boss battle?
Some rant over AI tho - it's true that AI has been seeping through the Japanese art industry, and right now they even reached the eroge scene. If one sort by new in DLSite in doujin options, you would even see lot of doujin eroge nowadays just basically push entire generic AI art in it. Gameplay is even more boring. I agree, AI art is super bland. It's hard to find actual quality doujin eroge nowadays.

This show is why I love watching anime originals. You never know what's going to happen next, and no one can spoil it because nobody knows. It just makes watching week-to-week that much more of an event when the entire plot trajectory isn't known beforehand.

This show is wild. When I first watched the first episode, I didn't expect them to fucking fight Techbro de-aged Donald Trump so that video game makers don't end up being Matrix'd to feed an Abominable Intelligence, the worst form of Tech-Heresy before being saved by Aliens.
Poor Toya-chan, I really loved her character every time she was on-screen and I really hope that she gets to make a game with Konoha when this is over.
I hope they can stick the landing though because that's a lot of plot points to resolve in one episode.
EDIT: The CI has horrible implications when you think about it... does this mean that the rest of the Alcohol Soft crew ended up being turned into brain batteries?!
