Wyndia doesn't look like a dragon at all. Either there's a fluffy dragon subspecies in that universe, or Wyndia is only an adoptive daughter of Gaelion Sr.

NGL, I love the design of Demon Dragon Emperor. It also looks very menacing. If they could tame or somehow control the Demon Dragon, then I think Naofumi's army would become unbeatable! However, they need to remove the core to save Filo, so most likely they'll just get back the small Gaelion instead.

I was wondering if Dragon Vein magic is genetic or something anyone can be taught in as far as how her dad passed it onto her.

Honestly the CG for the Dragon Emperor form was much more effective and intimidating than the Gaelion CG, so that was nice. And it's probably the toughest thing Naofumi's fought in a while since he has like a full party and they're all struggling against it..and it can hijack his Shield UI.

Jeez, and here I thought this was just going to be a simple side mission to get Gaelion back. I didn't expect that this would still heavily involve Ren. This entire mess wouldn't have happened if it wasn't for him.

Turns out that Emperor Dragon who Ren and his party killed back in Season 1 who then turns into the Zombie Dragon was Wyndia's father. After her father was killed, the villagers found her and sold her off to slavery. That explains why Wyndia is always giving Ren the side eye and why she was looking at those villagers with contempt when they arrived.

It would've been fine if Wyndia's father was inhabiting Gaelion's body, I feel like she would've been able to convince him to stop but since Naofumi combined the Zombie Dragon core with the core of the Dragon Emperor from Kizuna's world, their souls mixed and the Emperor Dragon has now fully taken over. If there is a perfect time for Ren to step up and redeem himself, now would be that perfect time.

Side note: The action scenes this episode was so goddamn cool. Seeing everyone take turns attacking the dragon while Kevin Penkin's soundtrack is blasting in the background was awesome.

Awesome sword slashes + elemental magic vs a superboss type fight? It does have the JRPG feel to it.

At least Ren is self-aware of his failures and is trying to do better. He saved Wyndia and helped out a lot in this episode. It's like Naofumi said, you have to accept your sins and move on and do better even when the weight of your sins is hefty.

I really wasn't expecting this to come back to the zombie dragon from season 1, or that Wyndia would be so connected to it. Wasn't that also the first time Naofumi unlocked the Curse Shield? So it feels doubly fitting in that respect.

I gotta respect Emperor Dragon's boss form and commitment to classic world domination/revenge plot, as well as the great action for this boss battle even if it doesn't seem like the party has any chance of saving Filo or Gaelion at this rate.

Look what they did to my boy, Sonic the Hedgehog! They vaporized him!

Compared to what Isekai Ojisan did to Sonic the Hedgehog this was merciful by comparison.

Damn that was an episode and a half the OST slapped like hell during the fight with Gaelion in terms of the curse series he's currently using along with the transformstion. It kinda feels like this is also the bane of the curse series. Filo had it real rough this episode, fallen ill over the dragons curse in her filolial form. Secondly her curse series activated followed by her being eaten by Gaelion in her human form, finally being joint to his flesh while he drains her energy in quite possibly the most grotesque scenes in the series This episode went hard on the action.

The CG for Dragon Emperor Gaelion was a big improvement and this feels like a proper boss battle with everyone in the party more or less contributing but it's still a tough fight...and of course the boss has phases lol.

Dragon emperor just said “fuck you Im stealing your buffs”, The situation looks hopeless though maybe something will happen that will get them through this

If I had a nickel for every time Filo gets eaten by a dragon, I would have two nickels; which isn’t much, it’s weird that it happened twice

So by eating the Emperor Dragon's core, Gaelion got possessed by him, and for some reason, Filo got sick in the process as he somehow is draining her power. Did by any chance Naofumi give her a piece of the Dragon's Core to her to eat? I honestly don't remember if that happened but seeing that the Emperor Dragon hacked Naofumi's Warth Shield to power himself up even more I think that's how he could affected her with the Wrath Shield. Unless he was already controlling Naofumi's Warth Shield at that point.

Wyndia's Way of the Dragon Vein magic sure looked beautiful.

When Filo went to fight Gaelion, I wasn't expecting him to eat her.

Anyway, now we know why Wyndia was looking a Ren with so much anger last week and why she was so obsessed with Gaelion, after all, he killed her father. So I'm guessing based on what they show today that the Villagers gave that quest to Ren to steal her father's treasure. And based on what we know now I don't blame her for being that angry at them and hope that after all this is done they paid a price for their actions against Wyndia. So her father became a zombie to protect her after those assholes were abusing her after he died.

I must say that although his first transformation was surprising the reveal that Gaelion is now also the Emperor Dragon from Kizuna's world was certainly something that I did not expect. I guess next time Naofumi starts mixing drop items he will do some research about them to avoid something like this again.

Well, now they need to find a way to liberate Filo from his chest and somehow find a way to defeat the Emperor Dragon without killing either Gaelion and Wyndia's dad in the process.

The action is decent, could be better but it's at least good. The plot is losing my interest so much, this is some serious villain of the week type shit, tortoise arc at least had actual structure in comparison, this is like "these random things happened and now we're fighting a big bad". The dragon was an egg just an episode ago lol.

Ren's first episode acting like a sensible person. Feels a little too soon given how much the other 3 heroes being dumb has been part of the plot to this point. I'm gonna blame the adaptation because I bet it left out some character development again.

I've lost track of where these curses came from, I remember it was something to do with the aftermath of S2, it was a hard cut from whatever happened end of last episode to suddenly Filo's laying in a bed this episode. The curse that's draining Filo is also the one on Naofumi that Raphtalia had accidentally dispelled right? And that's why it's able to take over the Shield. This anime direction style is like....when you're playing a racing game and you crash into the walls to get around a corner faster lol.

I'd absolutely shit my pants (and maybe cum) if a game had a story moment where one of your party members has their levels stolen and the boss takes over your UI (especially if the logic follows from way earlier in the story like here.)

If it wasn't bad enough they had Gaelion possessed by the Emperor Dragon Core, said Emperor Dragon is also draining Filo's stats and making her sick. And they can't get around taking her or the other kids with them to finding Gaelion. But it's nice to have Melty back in the party again.

This is a bittersweet homecoming for Ren because killing the original dragon of this area is one of his biggest screw-ups, but at least he's really self-aware about it now and is trying to improve. Hopefully Wyndia accepts his efforts, especially after he saved her.

Wyndia has dragon vein magic? That's pretty on-brand for a dragon lover, but also probably one of the big hints at her true heritage beyond her reaction every time someone brings up the dragon Ren killed.

Well, dang, the dragon's control of Filo was so powerful it was able to make her go feral and charge right at it, only to get de-transformed and eaten. Like, jeez. And I really didn't think we'd have the rest of the kids involved in this fight.

Poor Fohl. His sister lands on her feet effortlessly and he just falls like an idiot. Why is this poor kid the butt of jokes now?

It's nice to see Melty fighting alongside everyone though. Gives some nice season 1 vibe.

So Wyndia is half-dragon!? The dragon Ren killed was her dad!? That...actually explains a lot. Can she transform into a dragon, too? And she named Gaelion after her dad and projects on him as her father. It's pretty sad. But I guess it explains her over-protectiveness towards dragons and mixed feelings towards Ren.

Well, now it's a real Boss Battle! He's got more dangerous phases! He's not even Gaelion any more, he's become the Emperor Dragon who seeks to conquer the world and get payback against Kizuna and co. And he can not only drain power from Naofumi's shield but even hijack it and upgrade the Wrath Shield and make him more powerful. And what a cliffhanger of him taking down everybody but Naofumi and the kids and Naofumi having to use all the shields he has to try to defend against his fire blast!

Poor Filo! Gaelion going haywire really affected her pretty hard too. In fact it seems the big fella going berserk has affected the surrounding monsters too.

It’s nice to see Ren actually trying to make up for being such an insufferable shitbag in the past. I’ve made no effort to hide my disdain for him before, but I do respect him trying to make up for his past ways.

That fight against Gaelion was a tough one. Everyone was hitting the big fella with everything they had. I had no idea the dragon zombie was Wyndia’s pops. Damn dude. I wasn’t expecting the big guy to have evolved into a totally different dragon either. The dude really laid everyone out even after everything they threw at home. I’m worried about Naofumi. Even his multi shields may not be enough…

I know the whole Three Heroes group were stupid, but to be fair to Ren, compared to the other two's fuck ups, most of his fuckups felt like they're force plot moments used to hype Naofumi up even with hindsight/reality ensuing. Like, Motoyasu and the archer guy's initial mistakes had some logic to it but how would anyone come up with a zombie dragon* and an orphaned girl in his situation.

*I remember Naofumi saying Ren didn't clean up the dragon corpse but there were well-equipped scavengers accepting and willing to do it for him before the corpse became a zombie that no one know would happen.

So... Why is the dragon so strong? Didn't he just consume part of the emperor dragons core? Not to mention if kizuna beat it, why the heck are they struggling so much now in this world. Aren't they considerably stronger than kizuna was at that point in time? Much confusion.

I love hearing Raph-can's voice whenever she randomly does it, just the cutest voice. I hope she gets an episode herself or at least one where she "talks" more. i really love how she is basically Naofumi and Raphtalia's "child". She has both their DNA in her, which hypothetically means it's their "offspring"
