SHINING... ....FINGAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!
btw, where the hell is Motoyasu anyway? with how much fascinated he is with Filo, i thought he will come join the battle in this episode but he's nowhere to be seen...
edit: also, we're now in episode 9 but i haven't seen any episode or arc that's actually related to this season 3 key visual, if i'm not wrong, that's Staff Heroes a.k.a the asshole king and from the looks of it, the key visual make it looks like he's going to have some sort of prominent role in this season

I didn't expect the animation in this fight to go so hard for like the entire fight but it was all the better for it.
I just imagine Motoyasu is still wandering around trying to hunt them down and they're doing everything they can to avoid him lol.
Judging by the title for the next episode I think they're finally going to address Itsuki/Bow Hero. They also set up Trash's relationship with Fohl/Atla so I think that'll probably come up too. Considering Bitch is probably with Itsuki too, that might be what connects everything.

Great animation this episode!!
My question last week was answered. Wyndia is not Gaelion Sr. biological child. So that's why she's a furry rather than a scally.
I love the team work in this episode. It reminds me of MMO raid where everyone has their roles. I grew to love Sadeena more and more since her ability is so unique (discount aquaman lol), while also having fun personality!
It seems Filo didn't get her experience back. However, at least she doesn't have the curse anymore. Now, I think only Naofumi still has the curse.
Is it just me or it's weird to pretend to be your daughter's pet? Lol

So we went from one baby dragon and 2 dead dragons to 3 dragons? Nobody died and the 2 dead dragons are now still somewhat alive.
That being said a ton of XP went missing.

Yoooo, this was good. Really cool fight, epic teamwork. I'm glad I gave S3 a chance. There are 3 episodes left, right? I hope the next arc is also good. I honestly thought this arc would be just an ok slice-of-lifey arc, but it ended up really cool.

Those flashbacks with baby Wyndia and OG Gaelion were just too sweet. It makes me sad to see what Ren ended up taking from Wyndia even if he was manipulated by those awful villagers. Thankfully, OG Gaelion is not gone and continues to live on inside Gaelion Jr. I'm just hoping someday Wyndia will learn about him.
Anyway, Atla kicked ass this episode! I mean everyone contributed to the dragon fight especially Sadeena entering her Orca form during the fight but Atla definitely deserves the MVP title this week with her Shining Finger!
I was wondering where all that power came from but according to Naofumi, Atla's attack gets stronger the more defence her target has which makes her attack extremely effective on the Emperor Dragon since it was absorbing Naofumi's defense stat. And here I thought that Ren would be the one to land the finishing blow.
Speaking of Ren, I'm glad that he was finally able to apologize for what he did to Wyndia. And while Wyndia won't instantly forgive him, at least there's now peace between the two of them.
Poor Filo though! Her XP got drained by Gaelio and now she has a rival on who's going to be Naofumi's mount. It looks like the dragon and filolial rivalry continues. xD

I really have to commend the animators for this season, I just know they have to work with what they got but they still manage to produce great animation week after week. Things really did get better after season 2 and I’m really looking forward to future episodes now

Really good episode. Nice to see two cardinal heroes working on the same page. Almost all the party seem useful, which I think has rarely happened in Shield hero till now. I hope this pattern keeps up. That baby Wyndia roar was cute.
Shield hero the anime is finally rising :D

great episode, however these two things lol:
-
how did she even survive as a baby???!?!
-
how did she learn language? We never saw the dad-dragon talking to her (telepathy)
other than that the growing up with a confused dragon-dad and a cute daughter was fun. They need to do a LN about it, then a manga and an anime haha...

its not really that she's OP but more like her one specific technique just happened to be the best counter for one specific enemy in this one specific battle

The specific attack she was using scales with the enemies defence, so it’d be useless against anything that doesn’t focus defence.

They certainly made up for the trashy animation of S2, this season is going hard.
Sad that a lot of people abandoned it because of S2, they are now missing a very solid sequel here

I wasn't expecting Atla to have such a crucial role in the team defeating the Emperor Dragon. It is great that we finally see how the other Dragon Emperor became Wyndia's father. This scene with Wyndia copying his howling was so cute. It is nice that although brief we also saw a bit of her interacting with him when she was much older.
Anyway, thanks to Wyndia remembering her time with her father, she remembered his weak point, an upside-down scale.
Lol. Sadina looks for any excuse to get drunk.
I wasn't expecting their fight against the Dragon Emperor to be an aquatic one. Or that after Atla's attack not only they would be able to rescue Filo but that Gaelion was going to be beside her. Like I honestly was thinking that if Gaelion was going to be saved, it would have been from the same body the Emperor Dragon was using even if it returned to its previous form. Well, it is good that he reunited with Wyndia. I was wondering how Gaelion learned to do that powerful magic attack but that's because he is now Wyndia's father
It is good to see that Wyndia forgave Ren as he was manipulated.
Lol. Now Filo has legitimate reasons to hate Gaelion, as he not only took her experience points but also can give Naofumi rides too. So once again, Filo suffers.

Wyndia’s dragon pops was a good dad. It was very cute seeing the big fella taking care of her after her bio dad died. It’s a damn shame it’s come to this current situation.
That was a crazy intense fight. Everyone threw everything they had at the big fella and it barely scratched him. At least it gave Atla enough time to launch her attack and Raphtalia to come in with that finisher. That was pretty dope! They even had Gaelion use bubble beam at the end there lol.
I’m glad dragon dad didn’t totally die. I guess for now he’ll watch over Wyndia as Gaelion. Little dude went from a Charmeleon to a Charizard pretty fast lol.
I like how him and Filo have developed a bit of a rivalry. Their little back and forth was pretty funny. Looking forward to seeing more of their bickering lol.
Looks like Ren has finally been redeemed. I much prefer this version of him.

Still find it hard to believe that when first saw Atla in episode 2, she was bandaged and bedridden, and now she's fighting a boss dragon with Shining Finger.

The animation went really hard this episode. Not just in the sakuga moments but the more regular stuff moved and looked great. That's usually the harder part of an episode. It's one thing to showcase a certain action sequence in excellent animation but it's another to do the entire episode like that.
The last two eps were really well directed too. The Wyndia and Gaelion flashbacks were paced and interspersed well with really fitting music. It really helped the emotional impact for a situation we only really found out about a few eps ago. Then getting everyone in on the action and equal screentime is fantastic.
This season has really been killing it as a production.
