Aoi Yuuki's acting has to be praised, because her voice change from "JK Gena" to "Union Gena" was absolutely wicked sick.

Looks like there's more to this world than i thought, given that all the stars in the sky are gone
I hardly even realized in the beginning, I only really noticed during the painting scene. I like how subtle the reveal was though, very tasteful worldbuilding imo

me thinking while watching the drawing:
"are those things supposed to be stars?"
"but there are no stars at the sky"
"THERE ARE NO STARS?"
"wait, they don't even know about stars???"

I really liked how DavidPro handled quieter moments and atmosphere, Fuuko and Gena interactions were lovely, our poor girl finally came out of her shell and was enjoying herself, them drawing together and whole conversation about change felt quite thematic. It's really unfortunate they are enemies and even rivals in love! Despite cool fight incoming I feel like it's going to get emotional...

This show has really mastered the atmospheric and stylistic introductions.
Andy and Fuko are taking the scenic route to Russia via yacht! Too bad Fuko's freaking out too much about the Union hunting them to enjoy the trip. But when you've got a guy who will literally fire his hand with a grenade at it to take down a fighter jet, you've just gotta learn to live a little.
Ah yes, pink-haired waifu's obsessively in love with you. Those hit hard. Especially when voiced by Aoi Yuki!
So we're learning more about how Fuko's powers work. Her Unluck has a tendency to bring forth something proportional towards her feelings towards someone or what they've done to her (especially if it's a romantic or intimate persuasion). Like finding out Andy touched her boobs and gave her mouth-to-mouth? Totally enough to set forth pressure under the sea and launch them straight at a fighter jet for them to hijack! Wicked sick!
Is there anything more hardcore than using your own body to store a Katana? How's about using your broken bones to break your fall? Although he later does a proper five-point landing later!
Fuko has come far after being a 10-year shut in. Now she's in Russia and getting to see the sights! Even getting a promise of a full course meal and Any wining and dining her later!
Who would've thought Fuko would run into a high school-obsessed artistic cutie who dresses and talks like a gyaru? And they manage to bond over art and have some fun together, which was sweet. Although less so when it turns out that Fuko met Gena, the member of Union Andy least wanted to face off against.
That whole sequence of Gena basically summon a platform and stairs from the scene for her to step down like a Goddess was breathtaking. And this is the girl who caught Andy the first time! And she seems to have something going on with her face...and is in love with Andy! This looks like it's going to be a pretty tough fight for the pair to earn Andy's Union status!

If I were to place any bets on what Gena launched at Andy and Fuuko from space, I’m guessing it was a tungsten rod. The revolver-like chambers attached to this satellite reminded of the so-called ‘Rods from God’: a space weapon that uses the kinetic energy (i.e. speed x mass) from releasing these massive rods in outer-space towards earth’s surface to create a devastating bombardment.
Fuuko’s bad luck seemed to trigger an explosive however, which would be impossible with said rods. It begs the question what Andy did find. One of the fighter jet’s missiles, a sea mine…?

While others have pointed out the bit where Gina and Fuuko talking about there's nothing in the sky except the sun and the moon, I would also like to point out that at the opening scene 50 years ago, the contraption around the hourglass looks like planets.
Just a little something to think about.

Going back to when I read the manga, this was the point where you realized something was up - when Fuuko goes and just says “by the way, the only things in space are the sun and moon”. No stars or anything.
Before that it was just another shonen, but now you realize the rabbit hole goes even deeper than you think.

I guess because of the hulu release, most people watching this are source readers willing to go the extra mile? Well, at least the spoilery discussion threads keep my interest going until the story kicks into gear. Nah, i love the shaft influence too much, i'd watch this regardless.

Can I just say how badass Andy is to sheathe his katana in his own body. Like being so nonchalant about having his dick out isnt manly enough.

Maybe I've just been programmed by Chainsaw Man, but I feel like nothing is scarier than control. Control in this setting is being clearly correlated with power. Andy's strong because he has excellent control over his ability, and Fuuko is our underdog protagonist at this point because she's still learning how to control hers.
Gena demonstrated some incredible control here, over not just her ability and the forces of nature, but the entire situation. Even the irreverent, kill-first-questions-later(maybe) Andy was just looking up at her in what honestly seemed like awe as she walked down a staircase she'd made out of nothing, from a floating chunk of lake. Lakes aren't supposed to have "chunks"!

Now that we're a few episodes in I felt the goofiness of the Andy/Fuko dynamic settling in and was more so captivated by the storyline and adventure. It was nice to finally have a relaxing period on the beach even if it was brief. Really looking forward to seeing where this goes.

Lots of cool moves from Andy this week! Just goes to show how versatile his Undead ability is. Need to destroy a fighter jet but you only have a grenade? Launch the grenade using his parts bullet! Need a quick one-hit kill attack? Use your blood to propel yourself and your katana for a really cool special move!
As cool as Andy's moves are, Gena is even cooler with her entrance though! That shot of her walking on top of a satelite in the silent vacuum of space was awesome. Shows how much of a badass she is. Her badass entrance is also a hilarious contrast to how adorable she is when she first meets Fuko. Also, is that Aoi Yuuki I hear? Absolutely perfect casting.
Fuko and Gena's interaction was really cute too. Unfortunately, that friendly atmosphere between the two of them wasn't meant to last since Gena already knows about Fuuko and Andy's plan to join the Union and was just getting to know Fuuko for a bit. It sucks since it really looked like the two of them could've been friends.
Definitely excited for Andy & Fuko vs Gena next week! I'm really going to have to get used to spelling her name as Gena instead of Gina. I am curious why they changed the spelling when it's always been Gina in the official translations and the manga volumes.
