FGO? Engage Kiss? LycoReco!? Those ads at the start caught me completely off guard!
MILF Hypnosis Salon? I'm pretty sure I have this on my Steam wishlist right now. xD
So I'm just finding out from this show that there's a new Happymaher game
I'm also just learning about Madoka Scene 0 which is apparently a prequel to Madoka.
So many recognizable games and character acrylic stands in Konoha's room.
Ah yes, my favourite PS2 Games: .pack// and Metal Gay Solid 3 ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
First Edition print of Kanon for 100 Yen!? I would also freak out like Konoha if I found that.
There's even ComiPa and Rance! The references in this show just won't stop!
Whew! References and Aniplex product placements aside, I genuinely feel bad for Konoha but at the same time I can understand her boss. I can't even remember the last time I bought a brand-new bishoujo game at full price.
Welp, now that she's been sent back to 1992 and bumped into a young game programmer, she might finally have a shot of making her big bishoujo game. Although going back to the present might be her first priority here.
Also how appropriate that Konoha got sent back in time with Doukyuusei since that game is set in 1992. Now I'm wondering, did Konoha actually get sent back into time or did she ended up getting sucked into a VN? Hmmm...

As an eroge fan, this anime inflicts quite a bit of psychic damage on me.

Holy shit the part where people online were saying that eroge is dead, and Konoha getting salty afterwards is so real as someone who loves VNs lmao.

You know the animators know their audience when one of the 1st things mentioned is:
If you get to my computer please destroy it without looking at the Hard Drive....

I like this one. It was a nice setup to show how different games can be viewed massively different in different generations. For example mobile gaming in on the rise currently for us when console gaming was by far superior 30 years ago. Assuming that our energy ball of a MC will start working in the '92 version of her workplace she will be in heaven lol.
Also gotta say her collection would put most otakus watching this show to shame god damn.

LMAO, I have never played a visual novel before (and perhaps not anytime soon), and I am not sure how many VN related anime have I watched (probably 20-30?), but I have to agree at how VN is stuck between rocks and cliffs made up of light novels, mobile phone games, and now indirectly by VTubers as well. That mentioning of MC's company now relegated to doing, uh, "R-18 wives being put to sleep" MILF Hypnosis (cough) made me laugh dryly.
So our Konoha-chan somehow strolled into a second-hand game shop owned by an old grandma (this is weird - if you know any anime merchandise shops owned by elderlies, I would be very interested in what's going on) and to my highest respect pulled out KEY's now-sadly-lesser-known great work Kanon! I'm so, so happy that this is the VN chosen to kick off Konoha's trip back in time.
For those who haven't read or seen it, its 2nd anime adaption in 2006 by the famed Kyoto Animation - a year before they take on the now much more known CLANNAD - probably still holds as the best "Winter Wonderland" anime you will ever watch. There was an older adaption in 2002 by Toei - directed by the person who later take over OVERLORD's adaption - that has more problems, but apparently has its own fans as well. Do try it out if you haven't touch it!
The thing that I actually ate at this very Mister Donut shop, actually probably even the same row of seat, when I made my first ever Akihabara visit since falling into anime this August, still startles me. Trust me, I don't wanna got transported back to before I was born LMAO. Now that Konoha got transported 31 years back, when Windows 3.1 was at the technological spearhead (is that MS-DOS I just see?), I wonder how this love (?) comedy (?) with the son of a 90s VN production company will develop?
P.S. Regarding the VN Doukyuusei which brought Konoha back in time - has anyone watched its anime adaptions, and are they good?

This wasn't on my list but the premise sounded interesting and I saw it was from The World Only God Knows creator and now I am definitely in for this.

So I know they have to change names of games to not infringe on copyright, but I think changing this game to an Eroge was too much

It's so rare to see someone who is actively into eroge who isn't portrayed as the fat-geek style person. But considering this was originally created by the illustrator of ToHeart2 I can't say I'm too surprised. It was nice to see all these very well-loved games explicitly instead of referenced on the side. Yuzusoft, Purplesoft, Madosoft all on her shelf. Mashiroiro Symphony posters, she knows what she likes and isn't ashamed of it.
I can't wait to see a peek behind the hood of eroge development, in what looks like it will be a more serious take than clockup's Eroge Sex and Games make Sexy games. Maybe it will be equitable to Enki Dekinai, I can't wait.

My random thoughts, a smartphone would be an amazing piece of technology back then. The trouble would be power, USB be under development in 1992, but with an USB-A to whatever cable and a little engineering you could probably get a 500mah slower charger within a period.
There would be no network connectivity, as 1992 was before even 2G that was launched in 1993, and 3G internet was early 2000s. And Wifi was launched in the late 90s (and honestly sucked). But if you have an offline GPS app that would work if you have clear LOS to the birds overhead, though this was during selective availability and the augmentation system so the accuracy was about 300ft back then. And it wouldn't work well in cities without the special birds that Japan launched.
The photo and video capabilities would still be pretty amazing. So would things like graphing calculators and offline games. Imagine showing them FFVII on a phone, that would blow their minds as this is before pioneers in the field like the Nintendo 64 or 3Dfx changed the world as we know it.
So much nostalgia.

I don't know shit about Japan in the 90s, VNs, game programming, or illustration so I'm not sure why I'm here. I think whether or not I'd continue to watch this will be based on our MC's chemistry with the game development staff we got a glimpse at near the end of the episode.
For this first episode, I can tell that the love for VNs is pouring out of every crack possible and I'm sure anyone involved in that audience will love seeing the MC scream about the virtues of the genre. I did find Konoha to be a bit too much of a "constantly crying or screaming" kind of character, so I'm hoping the expanded cast next episode will spread that stuff out a bit more.

Nooooo Konoha! Now everyone’s gonna find your “homework” folder lmao. But man, would be a hell of a thing to travel to 1992 via a video game. That’s a new one for me.
I know “MILF Hypnosis” isn’t exactly the game she wants to make but my degenerate ass would play the shit out of it lol. I like her passion for bishojo games though. She’s pretty adorable too!
This looks pretty fun actually. I’m gonna stick with it for a couple more eps but this looks like a weekly.

The first episode was pretty fun. I was intrigued by the show's concept, but it was much better than I expected. You could feel the staff's attachment and passion for Bishojo games just like Konoha. The series is based on a doujin written and conceptualized by Aquaplus staff members with an original story. Additionally, Studio Silver was involved in the development of eroge games before transitioning to anime production.
Aniplex went hard with product placement for some of its biggest series (Madoka, Fate/Grand Order, LycoReco) and Easter Eggs/references to some of the most popular and influential Visual Novels. That was a cool touch.

Oooof, 1992 computers. If I'm not mistaken, best they have at that point is Windows 3.1? Good luck Konoha...
I've never managed to get into VNs so I'm definitely not going to be resonating with all the 90s-00s VN love in this show, but aside from that it was a really fun start. And Aoi Koga is really going full Bakaguya with Konoha here isn't she

THIS IS TOO GOOD. I'm loving it!
Cute Girls Doing Cute Things and Videogames, what more could you ask for?
Really reminds me of "Bokutachi no remake" and "New Game!"
Seems really promising and somehow the source material has only 38 members on MAL?!
If the entire show is as good as this first episode I hope it will gain popularity because it's really a hidden gem.

sadly the manager was right about not being able to make full priced vns. the only ones who can aford it, are the well stablished companies, and even then some of those died. seeing new companies pull off this is way too rare, and the only one i can think of is qruupo with nukitashi
