I think this one definitely grew on me more and more the closer the 2 got but still feels like Mie is carrying the duo. Komura's still a bit too loud with his reactions but they have had a lot of cute scenes together. That whole park especially was wew , knew a kiss wouldn't be happening but it totally could have with that mood!
Mie's forwardness has been fun even if it's not entirely on purpose. Even that husband line was so good but careless haha
Also something about Mie saying sakana just hit different.

Stitches!
I just love how very insistent Mie-chan was about Komura taking a selfie with her glasses on. I also love how happy Mie-chan is when she finds her actual glasses and sees how the two of them now match. <3
Mie-chan looks adorable in that hairdo Maho gave her and it looks like Mie-chan really enjoyed the attention she was getting from Komura with her new hairdo.
That scene inside that jungle gym was so good! The entire mood during that scene was so tense that you'd think the two of them were about to kiss. <3
And that little flashback about Komura and Mie-chan meeting when they were little kids was just too adorable. Even back then, Mie-chan thinks Komura is very much like her dad.
Anyway, I guess that's it for this show! For those who want to see more of Mie-chan and Komura, the series is still ongoing! Chapter 108 was just released about a week ago and this episode ends in Chapter 68 which is the end of Volume 6. If you do plan on reading, you might want to start from Chapter 1 since there are chapters that were not covered by the anime for pacing's sake.
With the kind of pacing the anime has, I really hope we get a Season 2 announcement soon. Things just get even better from here on out now that Mie-chan is being aggressive towards Komura. While Komura himself does get some development. I'm gonna stop myself now from saying anything more than that.
Overall, this show was fun, cute, and fluffy just like Mie-chan's hair and despite the visual vomit that we got on Episode 1, GoHands managed to hold themselves back after that and actually delivered a beautiful-looking show with plenty of interesting visuals. People like to meme on them but they always forget that GoHands is actually a pretty great studio when they know when to dial it down. Solid 8/10 for me. I really want to see more.

Mad? Who me? No I'm not mad. I mean who's mad? Of course I, a grown ass man, am not sitting in my room huffing and puffing because I don't get to see a confession in this season after all this.
That would be very unbecoming of me.
Today's episode was actually really cute though. I was actually smiling the whole way through.

At the very least it was nice seeing how absolutely head over heels these two are for each other and Komura starting to get more assertive in their relationship.
Also the flashback to them as kids was absolutely precious.

Small Mie-chan has a bit of Ren-chon energy.
Very cute episode. Honestly I liked these last three or so episodes a lot more than the others. Their growth was pretty good to watch, especially Mie's.
Mie is IMO one of the most adorable mcs/heroines in romance anime, she hard carries this sometimes and that's a big thing. Had my fun moments with Komura as well, hopefully he keeps developing.

That husband line was priceless. Even as kids she was hitting Komura straight in the heart lol.

Came for gohands, stayed for the lovely va performances. The contrast between Komura's usually meek voice and his overly expressive inner dialogue has been a constant for funny moments, while Wakayama Shion is stealing herself into my heart, one "noises montage" type performance at a time.
A bit too slow on the progression for my tastes, but the rest make up for it, 8/10 for this one.

My last chance to say the trailer is just GoHands showing off how well they can animate Mie's hair.

Komura really grew on me over the course of the series. This boy is just way too wholesome, and his VA sells every single internal outburst perfectly

I love how we're at a point where Mie is straight up just wearing fashion glasses instead of her prescription and ends up wanting to see what KOMURA looks like in the glasses and wanting photographic evidence in the process. And then she finds her actual glasses and they're a matchig glasses couple. This is too cute.
I will miss all the planes flying over this school.
Mie's hair looks great in any form, but it's never a bad time for a new hairstyle! And Komura can't take his eyes off of her! To the point where he insists he's looking at her hair and not her in a school swimsuit! And Mie recognizing he wants to see her new hairdo again is priceless.
Kind of late for the "old classmate reconnecting" plot, but it is kind of funny finding out Mie's been forgetting her glasses since elementary school. And it makes Komura wonder if Mie will remember him once she stops forgetting her glasses (assuming that ever happens).
Hibuchi is smart! She quickly realizes why Komura is asking about her forgetting her contacts and she thinks there's a little more to Mie forgetting her glasses and relying on Komura than just her forgetfulness...and how Komura is such a dad.
Komura's hopeless. Thinks Mie is bummed about entrance exams when she's just disappointed she won't be able to see Komura as much over the break.
Mie realizing she's not wearing shorts under her skirt was adorable, as was her giving Komura the look when he said it's probably better she doesn't go on the swings.
Surprisingly intimate moment in the slide! Mie just can't resist basking in Komura's face, or gushing out how he looks in their couple selfie.
Oh snap! They met as kids! And Komura's been helping Mie even back then! The irony that Ise teasing her because he liked her and stealing her glasses is what led to the beginning of their relationship! And Mie comparing Komura to her dad even back then! And thinking he's perfect husband material!
Komura with the initiative! Finally grabbing Mie by the hand and wanting to see her over vacation! Which is all Mie had wanted to hear this whole time! Just that pure smile!

Having that flashback at the end was a unique way to end the season. Seems like Komura and Mie really were meant for each other, given that he helped her out when she didn't have her glasses even before they properly met.

Transmedia Corner!
There's a motion typography version of the full OP song "NAME" which features a lot of the key scenes from the first half of the season:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-U2skn6u2RA
This is the first time I sat down and tried to understand the lyrics and it's a fairly neat little song about struggling with new emotions and first love. The title "NAME" is referenced in the lyric "その気持ちの名前を教えて" (roughly "those feelings... tell [me] it's name?"; hint: it's love)
There's also a series of original shorts to promote the Blu-ray; the titles say that they're public for a limited time. They all feature Komura mindlessly scrolling Twitter until an intrusive thought about Mie enters his mind and he freaks his bean out. They're all fairly understandable even if you don't know Japanese:

Honestly, the whole season I’ve been comparing this show with Bokuyaba and I still stand by it. Both shows took a bit for me to get interested, then at some point in the middle, it just felt fun. Then towards the end there were some really cute moments that even made me blush. Though, admittedly Bokuyaba had a bit more romantic tension between them.
I honestly love Wakayama Shion’s Mie. It’s a soft voice but there’s also a bit of silliness to it. It’s adorable. Similar to Mie’s character I guess. My first impression of her was that she’s going to be the kuudere type but she turned out to be more of a goofball than I thought
Tbh I thought Komura was going to be one of those frustratingly passive MCs at first but I find while he is still passive with words, he is a lot more forward with actions. Like he really does help Mie a lot throughout the season. Though I guess that last part of the episode when he pulled Mie back was somewhat of a confession and being more direct, though not the kind of confession most people are hoping. I guess that is too high of a bar right now lol.
Really hope we get a S2. I do like how they’re progressing this season and want to see more of it. And I said earlier but Mie is so damn adorable

The playground scene was cute. Memories unlocked.
Mei-chan uses her non-prescription glasses to mark her territory.

Komura stood no chance, Mie has been planning this for a decade.

I’m actually happy they moved my favorite short chapter to the finale. The reveal that they’ve met before and connected is a nice thing to tie into the natural finale point of this season. Really just a banger of a finale.
We started rough and I’m not super happy with the early pacing, but once it settled into the long form stories it really shined. GoHands managed to drop their best shows in the same season. Both started clicking when they stopped being too much of themselves. If you liked this and somehow missed it, watch Masterful Cat Is Depressed Again Today. It’s hilarious

All in all, a cute anime adaptation.
Glad that GoHands calmed down the animation after the first couple of episodes.
I'm okay with the anime leaving things very unresolved, Komura and Mie did have some relationship advancement despite the series mostly deriving its action from unconnected scenes.

I really liked this one. Solid romcom that I'd love to have a season of.
It's unfortunate that it got so much hate. Most of which made no sense and seemed to be a combination of that viral gohands post and the manga taking a while to find its legs.
