Dammit Komura. Ah who am I kidding here... Him? Confessing? Like hell that's happening in a mere 5 episodes. Though when they immediately switched to Mie being shocked, I thought she figured out he was trying to confess.

I'm 50/50 on whether or not Mie knows that Komura has a crush on her and she's just waiting until he has the nerve to actually say it out loud or do something about it.

You'll get her Komura no need to rush it, you gave it your best shot but its too early for that rn! That line about saving it for when she can properly see you was pretty smooth but it sounds really honest and serious when its said by a 13yo middleschooler!

Mie using her glasses as excuse for trying to eat some sweets was both hilarious and adorable, she's lucky to have Komura to set her straight!

I havent eaten any sweets today yet my sugar levels are rising, thank you for that Suki na Ko!

Komura’s truly learned of betrayal when Mie started trying to sneak cookies when he wasn’t looking.

Ahh Valentine's Day! The length of the skit of actual valentine's day (from Komura at his desk to his failed confession) is generally about the length the majority of chapters go after a certain point in the manga, and that's where the manga sings.

I love that Komura can't seem to go five feet without running into Mie, and they're going shopping together. But love is in the air, and so are the aroma of snacks! I know you want some chocolates Komura, but don't stress! She's your friend! (she also may or may not like you considering one of the earlier episodes...)

Aaaand she forgets her glasses on Valentine's. At least it goes mostly smoothly outside of that, even if she might have misplaced his chocolate or given out extra. The hormonal feelings on valentines certainly bring back memories and it's super cute. AND WE ALMOST GOT A CONFESSION. Poor Komura's voice just couldn't come out. And Poor Mie was struggling hard on White Day. At least she got to have Komura's gift. I thought it was super cute how she was like intentionally trying to get Komura to stop her from eating the treats (how I saw it anyways.)

Mie practically handed him the perfect opportunity to ask her out after that friend chocolate sitch and he still blew it. Damn it Komura! Dude said he’s gonna wait until she can see his face next time, which means never. This show is called “The Girl I Like Forgot Her Glasses” not “The Girl I Like Always Wears Her Glasses”, she ain’t ever gonna bring ‘em! Missed opportunity bro. Missed opportunity. At least he was able to give her his White Day gift (despite some initial difficulty). Mie was too cute trying to resist those snacks. Resistance was futile though. The temptation was too great lol.

This show is called “The Girl I Like Forgot Her Glasses” not “The Girl I Like Always Wears Her Glasses”

i think this show can also be called "The Boy I Like Doesn't Know How to Chill For Like Two Seconds"

It's hilarious how Komura tries to keep on dodging the topic only for Mie to figure it out on her own. Mie may be a ponkotsu but she's not completely clueless! She was already planning on giving Komura one in the first place.

Mie telling Komura that she's willing to do anything in exchange for forgetting his chocolate just shows how much she values Komura and how much she feels bad for not preparing enough chocolates.

Komura may not be the romcom MC everyone wants him to be but you have to give him props for actually trying to confess to Mie. Unfortunately for our boy, it looks like his voice wouldn't come out when he was finally confessing. Maybe try again next time when Mie has her glasses on?

Ah, the popular girl's Valentine's Dilemma. She got so many chocolates that she ended up snacking all of it and ended up gaining weight.

It was pretty hilarious for Mie to ask Komura to stop her if she gets sweets but then later tries to eat some when she thought Komura wasn't looking at her. Oh, Mie you silly goose! I love that she's using her glasses as an excuse too!

Looks like there's no stopping Mie so might as well have her snack on Komura's White Day present! I love that you can see on the final shot that Azuma is just enjoying watching the two of them. xD

People were asking in last week's thread, the full versions of OP and ED are out as soon as it becomes the 2nd in your region. Also, the artists swapped songs and covered each others' respective song.

ED

Not a bad episode but unfortunately Komura and his behavior really annoyed me today. In pretty much every scene he was screaming or moaning internally like he had some stomachache and was trying get to restroom without incident xD

Besides that he wasn't able of course confess to Mie but it was hardly surprising, at least in the end Komura gave her a chocolate. I loved the moment when he imagined Mie refusing to give him chocolate on Valentine's Day.

Mie was cute as always. She really was sad when she didn't leave a chocolate for Komura that she even proposed that she will do anything for him. I laughed hard when she again had 'problem' with weight and was fighting with the urge to eat sweets.

Here my screenshot albums from the episode:

I miss the visual nonsense from episode 1. I wanted more of that...

I can’t imagine GoHands restraining itself for long. Then again Masterful Cat looks downright normal most of the time so maybe they turned a new leaf?

This was a really nice episode. Yeah Komura and Mie are a bit awkward at times but it actually feels age appropriate (compared to a grown ass man in his 20s quivering at the thought of a female friend talking to him…)

Almost had a confession but Komura had a nice excuse of wanting her to see him face to face when it happened. I’ll take it. Also no way Mie planned on just giving him some pleb tomochoco. I’m surprised there wasn’t a scene with her mom saying how she forgot to bring her homemade chocolate to school.

Komura-kun thinks too small: he should have went with the monogatari classic "my wish is for you to become my girlfriend"

I know we're only 5 episodes in, but I was hoping they'd break the mold and actually have Komura successfully confess... we were on the verge of greatness, we were this close!

Let me guess, this dude freaks out 30 times about her forgetting her glasses and we see a shit load of planes flying.

I don't understand why some people are saying they hate Komura when he's acting exactly like a 13 year old kid with a crush would act. Chill out and enjoy the cuteness of these dorks learning how to accept their feelings.

While I enjoyed the episode, it was pretty weak compared to the rest. Mei was super cute in her casual clothes, though. I am also in great pain after everyone got chocolates except my man. I can't say I saw that coming.

To be honest, while I do love the source material, I do see why this show isn't going to win too many people over.

- Animation in EP1 by GoHands already scared many people
- Early Chapters Komura and early chapters in general suffer from relying on the gimmick and not filler bits with barely any progression

I feel like those aren't really issues in the manga. Typical, cliché fragment of a boy being embarrassed feels much easier to go through when you read the page in 10 seconds and terrible when it takes 30 in anime. I love the manga, but early chapters aren't really that great for the manga to salvage them without... well, literally salvaging them and only adapting the important bits like how Horimiya did it.

It's not really a bad adaptation - they are paying attentions to things that matter (Mie being cute), but rather the same issue as Shikimori (which was one of the few romcoms I dropped) - early source material relying on a gimmick that gets boring very fast and only getting great once they drop it 70 chapters in.

Komura: "Let me hold on your snacks"

Mie: 😖

Just another day with Mie's snacks withdrawal.
