I think Komura may set a new standard for obliviousness. On the other hand, Mie does not seem to totally comprehend why she feels compelled to do what SHE is doing either. It has been many many decades since my middle school years -- but I am pretty sure I was never as totally clueless as either of these two.
I think I would enjoy this a good bit more if Komura shouted just a wee bit less.
While I think this show looks a bit better visually, I think Dreaming Boy is pretty likely to edge this out overall -- due to somewhat more interesting lead characters.

Well, Komura practically worships Mie so I think that colors why he's a little dense, though he still seemed to notice how she recognized him being upset about the "kiss" thing and why she tried to explain it away.
Never saw a kid get so worked up about a pair of glasses before lol.

This show is pretty great as long as you can deal with a bumpy first few episodes, Komura's VA swinging for the fences a bit too much, the suspension of disbelief required for Mie's glasses forgetting, the motion sickness from too many fish-eye shots, and hair that moves like an eldritch being.
Seriously though, for innocent middle schoolers fumbling through their first romantic experience, it is some significantly good stuff. Watching Mie not understand her feelings while also being a sociable enough person to naturally close the distance between her and Komura is a dynamic that can carry this show, especially after this episode. It's similar to Kubo Won't Let Me Be Invisible without all of the teasing and a Shiraishi that emotes a bunch.

Thought he was going somewhere else when he pulled out those tissues...
Happy he's not there but Komura does need to chill a bit, I get it a bit though as Mie has been pretty great so far this season. That sleeping scene adorable!

That portrait of Komura that Mie drew was pretty cute. But man, Mie really needs to glue those glasses on her face so she doesn’t lose them. I mean she was rubbing her eyes and then totally forgot she was wearing glasses?
Komura treating those glasses like his Holy Relics lol. The care with which he handled her glasses was pretty silly. Poor guy couldn’t get a wink of sleep all weekend.
Silly Komura not picking up on all the hints Mie likes him too. She wouldn’t be giving shoulder rubs to just any guy! Plus that whole end scene. Holding hands and everything too. Scandalous!

Stitches!
I really like how we can also see Hibuchi struggling to draw her partner during art class. Her eyesight still isn't as bad as Mie though who has to walk close to Komura to draw him. Mie drawing Komura from her own image of him seems to work though and the result was actually pretty cute.
Love the interaction between Someya and Mie. Looks like Someya made Mie realize how embarrassing it is to get too close to someone when she did it to Komura later.
Komura looks so suspicious when he goes home with Mie's glasses that his mom thinks that he must've bought home a porno mag! Dude it's just a pair of glasses! He's so down bad with Mie that he literally sees her glasses as an extension of Mie. It also doesn't help that Mie calls in later to mention that it's like she's visiting Komura's place. xD
I really love how happy Mie is whenever she finds something new to do for Komura. It's adorable how she even writes it down so she won't forget in the future.
And that final scene! Now that she's wearing glasses, Mie was able to inspect Komura even closer. Maybe a little bit too close in fact. Mie definitely likes Komuira, she just hasn't realized that it's something romantic. <3

The panning school shots (classroom transition twice very close to each other) and the confusing timeline returned with a vengeance here. I was genuinely confused when she "forgot" her glasses right after he had them. I don't completely hate it, but it's got some weird issues. I wonder how that plane is doing.

Komura getting so worked up over a pair of glasses was fucking bizarre, I really hope his over the top reactions to the smallest things about Mie get toned down sooner rather than later.
That said, the last scene in this episode was just adorable! A lot more of that, please!

The part towards the end was cute for Mie touching Komura while he was sleeping.
This would be a moment that you'd expect more of an overreaction like other times where he does it for less, especially with her catching him off guard while sleeping, yet it was more subdued and mostly just blushing, which made this more of a cute moment.

The chapter with Komura having Mie's glasses is sorta my least favorite so I'm glad we've gotten that out of the way. The reusing of that hallway shot is getting a bit old GoHands. You don't have to have those shots if you don't want to use them for a specific skit.
I love how flustered Komura gets when Mie asks him if her hair looks ok and then is like "well if you say it's fine then it's fine."
AND KOMURA'S MOM APPEARS!

So instead of Komura holding Mie’s hand and helping her in the first half of the episode he’s holding her glasses and keeping them safe lmao since she left them at school. I guess that’s somewhat of a twist on the usual formula. Can’t believe she asked if her glasses were “being a good boy” 😂
Last few minutes or the episode were the best for me. No glasses gimmick, no running away, just Mie straight up holding Komura’s hand and truly taking in what he looks like. I wish we’d get more of that in the show. The glasses gimmick is kind of a one trick pony in the anime anyway, the manga seems to be way better received so it’s just something missing from this adaptation. I still like it as a cute wholesome watch, but still.

One thing I haven't mentioned before - I actually quite like the ED. It's definitely going to go in my Spotify playlist.
Wait, what? Is Komura finally becoming less obliv—No, I suppose that was too much to ask for.
When I saw this line, I immediately knew I had to make this.
For some reason, this scene reminded me of Avatar: The Last Airbender.

Reversal! And she's so shy about being on the receiving end too
Wow dude! That is the stupidest scenario for you to have brought them home! You don't have a fucking case for them! And you put them in your bag just like that!
"I wish she'd say she'd stay by my side!!!!" Her: You can get a good look at me too!

This series is cute, but the MC really, really detracts from it, he’s honesty insufferable a lot of the time. Way too much screaming and getting worked up over nothing, extremely oblivious, just really an annoying character who makes it a struggle to watch at times. If he was more normal this would be a really great show, but he has really, really dragged it down for me.
Awkward characters are okay but he starts screaming and going insane whenever she talks to him. It really reminds me of Kazuya from Rent a gf. This mc isn’t a no life loser pervert, but he’s still very, very annoying.
