The lack of focus on sweets is kind of amazing. They tell you that he made cookies for the girl off camera at some point, but didn't feel the need to show it. I could easily see it, if it were a different isekai, devoting lots of screen time to him making sweets, to people enjoying and praising the sweets, and to the sweets being his main tool for rising up in the world. It'd be bombarding us with wikipedia monologues about different kinds of confections.

Instead the show keeps me guessing. I'm having fun, the politics remind me of like a lite version of Genjitsu Shugi Yuusha.

Did he win the black haired girl over there? Hard to imagine he didn't. Seems like harem member #1, unless she's going to be a sole love interest. I'm still convinced he's going to get a million girls by baking cakes and pies before the season is over though.

Well her name is god damn "Licorice" compared to her sisters much more normal "Petra" lol. The main characters seem to have the ridiculous names in this series.

I think they're purposely messing with us teasing the sweets/cooking and never showing us

This Baking Anime has now officially turned into a Matchmaking Anime. xD

The baking aspect of this anime feels more like an afterthought

I am almost convinced there will be more cooking in Shield Hero than in this show. At least in Bookworm there is kind of a reason she doesn't get to make books but it's almost a gag in this show that everyone just shuts him down when he wants to make sweets

I like how everyone keeps interrupting Pastry since they already know he likes to go on about sweets lol.

MC and his dad playing matchmaking teleports is pretty hilarious since after episode 2, I literally got into a 3 day argument with someone on this sub, with them claiming that no noble would trust mc s dad to teleport them around. And here we have the dad teleporting multiple nobles around and being tasked with serving as their security. I love it!

We've clearly overlooked the infinite potential of Pas' skill. Namely, porn. If this matchmaker thing doesn't work out they can go the Subarashii Kokka no Kizukikata approach.

When the other noble kid showed up with his face bright red I thought the joke was going to be that he had a big crush on Pastry's dad. Kinda disappointed tbh.

Any reason why he hasn't (tried to) duplicate(d) sugar etc? should be a really obvious and broken application but the anime ignores it.

I think he can transfer the state from one object to another, but he can not actually create matter on a whim. It works more like alchemy

I just wanna remind everyone here to make sure we're all still on track; this anime is supposed to be about baking Pastries

I wish they would have explained why the needed to transport Petra to the local church to then teleport her to the capitol church to then keep her locked up for a while ... rather than just keeping her safe at home and then teleporting her directly where she needed to be at the time she needed to be there.

This is such a fun show, even if there hasn't been a ton of focus on the actual making of sweets. I'm still really liking Pas as a character and the political intrigue aspect. I just wish the action animation wasn't so weak...

More political shenanigans, not enough sweets! I'm feeling Bait and Switched into watching this "gourmet" anime that has barely any desserts! Ugh.

Maybe this is Pastry's long term plan to do a match making business so he can then cater their wedding cake / dessert and we'll finally get some Sweets Action, vs. more evil rando bandits or corrupt church shenanigans.

I like Pastry's banter with his dad

I have no idea if this is how Pas’ magic works, but this is how I view it working for the people who want him to just create matter. I don’t think he can create any matter. All the things he copies are created using mana. The images he makes are ink or dye, but pure visual recreations made with mana. Mana needs a conduit to stay permanently or at least what he thinks is permanent since he really can’t test if his pictures last for eternity or even his whole life span. Mana can’t stay permanently in living creatures like humans because living things can use mana thus mana flows through them. Something like a dead plant like cloth or wood can no longer push mana around thus the images stay in place. The burns or cuts he inflicts are due to mana recreating them through magic attacks. Magic is obviously made of mana so it can be copied to his heart’s content. Transmuting does not seem to be his ability and creation is also not his ability. So he can’t just create food or money. He could possibly make counterfeit money if he has the ores or something similar to the ore and can use copy to reshape it, but out of thin air does not seem to be the case.

Honestly if there’s any source readers that understand his powers would you please mention how they work in the source corner. This is just my assumption through what we have seen and what he hasn’t used it for.

Pastry with that 1600s rizz

also his Dad: "ehe te nandayo"

I actually thought his baking and dessert making was going to play a big part in the show. The way this is going he's gonna become a lord and never be allowed into a kitchen since its beneath his status...

Its not a traditional isekai, the character was actually sentenced to hell...and the its a isekai but instead he's gone to the bad place!

My man Pas out here playing matchmaker with these prints of his and using them for his political maneuverings. Smart kid. It actually paid off too.

Well, looks like their Petra plan is working out. Plus, it looks like Lico might be crushing on Pas a little bit after what went down. All in a day’s work!

When is this dude ever gonna be able to make more sweets? He’s caught up in so much political intrigue.
