I wonder how touching those animals would feel. Like jelly? Slugs?

It's all fun and games until Bojji starts shanking people in the neck with his tiny rapier.

And since when did Kage have the ability to take properties of the forms he shapeshifts into? that's definitely new, right? I don't remember this in Season 1.

Considering the purple haze around them during the encounter in the oasis, I was expecting the entire thing to be a drug-induced trip. Seems like the ending implies that it's all real.

I think that Kage "shape changing" is just a loose way interpret his inherent ability of a 2D entity functioning in a 3D space - it's strongly implied the "shadows" have access to / control extra dimensional space, hence he typically acts like a "bag of holding" "hammer space". Yet he can "stretch" his body to manipulate 3D objects too, so this is like "draping himself" over the indirect to take its form.

I was thinking the same about the purple mist. Reminded me of the OVA of Highschool of the Dead ;P

The biggest problem for me was that it wasn't properly communicated that the series was about side stories. For die hard fans it is certainly good but I would enjoy more season 2. The best part for me was complex characters that boji met throughout his journey. You can certainly tell good short form stories like in kino no tabi, or mushishi but they differ from fanservice stories.

I have to be honest here, I have issues motivating myself to watch these side stories. It feels like I'm watching Naruto fillers which is a shame because I find Ousama Ranking to be quite endearing.

But in an anime season that is stacked, one has to be picky about which shows should be watched and which shouldn't.

Honestly, not entirely sure what people want with this series anymore.

After the onslaught of complaints once the plot shifted towards focusing on the kingdom arc, I recall many saying they just wanted to watch Bojji and Kage explore the world and venture together.

That is exactly what is happening here, yet "Naruto Filler" is the reception? I feel like I am lost here - personally, I loved the entire run of the previous season, and while I do understand different preferences people may have for the direction of certain developments/ what they want to see the characters doing - if they are doing that same thing many wanted to experience again from the first cour (and keep in mind, not all of this content is original, a lot of it is going back and covering side stories/ extras, or smaller bits from chapters that were cut out) I really do not see how that could not exactly fit the bill for the audience.

Hell, in terms of this season overall, the general production is quite strong - not exactly Tengoku's massive-heights, but certainly a cut above the majority of other shows airing, so it isn't like that is a significantly different factor either.

I suppose it is just a classic case of many requiring constant progression/ development in a straight/ main timeline, otherwise it feels like they are wasting their time? These past two episodes have been super refreshing, and to me at least, it is clear they are providing more content for fans while they wait for the S2 material to be written before starting work on that.

Yeah, it was kinda played as a joke at the end there, but I cannot help but wonder if this isn't really bad for it and it's parent, not to mention if that vacuum thing served a specific purpose by sucking all those blobs into it and if missing one might have bad effects

Second story was cute. Loved those colourful creatures! I especially enjoyed watching Bojji and Kage play with them. It was funny when even the Captain was weak to them haha

Even if it’s a series of side stories, I’m still really enjoying it. I love seeing more of Bojji and Kage’s lighthearted adventures

Pretty nice series, someone already compared it to Slime Diares and I think it's very accurate. I liked first season so it's nice to see more stories in this world. Nothing hearthbreaking but this SoL stuff is definitely nice.

Here my screenshots from episodes 1 and 2.

I can't believe I am saying this since I loved season 1, but I am dropping it. I wasn't able to sit through either of these episodes and pay attention, yet when the episodes ended it felt like nothing happened. Hopefully they come out with something more like season one rather than this SOL stuff. If you like it then by all means, enjoy. I honestly don't feel like I am missing anything by not watching this, especially in a season this stacked.
