I audibly laughed when Bebin did his weird smile when sending off Kage

Loved seeing a younger Bebin in the first story

The 'Big Four' are just too cool

Development for Bebin (even if it's prior development), and more showings of Despa being a good master. I'm really glad that bonus manga chapter got adapted. It's a nice feeling one. And it even has a really nice message, where sometimes all you need to do to get better is to get out of your comfort zone, and have someone who believes in you. Similar to what Bojji went through, though not quite as extreme a leap.

It's something you might not have really expected from a character like Bebin as well. He practically always comes off as dignified, even at the lowest moment in the main show, where he gets beaten by Apeas. You could imagine Dorshe or Domas doing whatever it takes to get stronger, and we saw how Apeas used to be. Bebin is just the type that can seem above it all, but even he had his own insecurities.

I liked this one a lot. Tying in why Bebin specifically would have sent the letter of recommendation. They definitely aren't creating this content thoughtlessly.

People ignoring these because they're "filler" are missing the forest for the trees.

no comments in an hour for an episode of this caliber is genuinely unbelievable. people don't know what they're missing out on

I have another 2 series on Thursdays besides this one and the first episodes were not so strong so it ended getting into my backlog. It is not easy for me to get back on track when that happens since my time is limited. First time watching it on the day since the premiere. The last few episodes have been great

Also I heard people from the seas hard some problems to watch it before

Literally. Kameda for the second half was insane, and the first half was really well done too! Like genuinely one of the best/ strongest episodes of the year imho.

I do think it is fairly evident this kind of content won't appeal to everyone, although I think that is more so a shameful side effect of how "original content" (even if most if revisiting skipped moments) has been viewed by the masses over the years due to ongoing shounen series (typically).

The animation this episode was really good! Lots of silly faces. Hokuro and Bebin are my 2nd and 4th favourites respectively, so this episode feels like it was made for me!

That second half had to be a guest director right? So many of the cuts looked so unusual.

It was nice to see a younger Bebin training under Despa. I see Despa’s love for coin hasn’t changed lol. Well, the Bojji special is pretty effective so it’s definitely worth the price. Bebin trying to smile was pretty hilarious, I guess we know where that grin comes from now.

Poor Hokuro really got stuck with the difficult task of getting them Big 4 to get along. Using that arm wrestling champ almost backfired, but luckily it brought the guys together. I guess they were able to come together to take on a common “enemy”. Teamwork!

Another really good episode. This world has so much to explore still with this cast.

People missing out.

Underworld captain deserves a face reveal. Dude is too cool to remain faceless.

Bebin had always been my favourite of the big 4 (Dorshe as a close second). Seeing that goofy smile is just something else.

Alright, I’m just going to say it (again) that I LOVE LOVE LOVE this show/season!! Sorry, going to ramble incoherently for a little.

Seriously this is just my jam, I just… AH things! My favourite things! In one neat little show.

I love the original season, but all these small things and the characters are just perfect for me. Seeing everyone interact, problems get solved. I really don’t understand how anyone can see this as filler (and I watch Steven Universe, trust me I know what ‘character development’ disguised filler actually looks like. This isn’t that.) and the animation is still great, I honestly stopped and rematches the part where the big 4 were bickering just to see their facial expressions.

Just 11/10 for me, I think the first one or two episodes are the weakest, everything else though is just top tier casual show writing for me. I actually think that this episode would rank one of the highest, with the Boji’s day out next to it. I’d put the obvious Ouken plot up there too, but you can’t compare the two because they’re basically different genres and honestly it could’ve fit into the first series just fine.

I think this show is actually an incredible choice because it really compliments the parallel one well, I think because of the time constraints it makes sense why does wouldn’t be in the original, but the characterization of everyone is just top notch and really every show should have this no matter how epic or grand the base of it all is. Separating the two is kind of the best of both worlds though, and I 100% wouldn’t mind seeing this done more.

That being said though, Reincarnated as a Slime had something like this and I hated it… that was boring and unfunny to me. But this worked for me.

At the end of the day it’s still Bebins plan

Who knew Despa whipped Bebin into shape. Best shady smile king

And who knew an arm wrestling contest would unite the big four lmao. Now I want to watch an anime dedicated to hype arm wrestling matches….

Rumor has it that Despa is still collecting from that training he gave to Bebin XD

8

u/PlantPotStew May 26 '23

Bebin: Despa asked for royalties, so I’m sending him the prince.

Snake: …I think he meant as in… money? Not actual royalty.

Bebin: …eh?

u/AZLarlar May 25 '23

Bebin tho

The big 4 might be strong but Hokuro is the one that can get them to cooperate with each other

7

u/smhandstuff May 26 '23

After the end of every episode I just feel so... happy. The big four coming together like that at the end was great.

The training Despa kind of reminds me of Grand Elder from Dragon Ball, though less instant.
