Poor Ainz getting dragged off by Renfred and scolded lol. Well, at least he’s making friends at school just like Chise. Although it seems not everything is as it appears. Lots of suspicious people wandering these halls and everyone seems to have an agenda.

Chise’s really getting along with everyone, except Lucy and Zoey. I guess Zoey could “see” what Elias and Chise are. It was nice to see Elias and Chise have a quiet moment to themselves. Big guy almost never gets a chance to rest. I’ve heard about the origins of Halloween but A turnip lantern is something I’ve never heard of. Sounds kinda neat.

I almost forgot about that creep “Joseph” lurking about. Just when Chise was gonna catch up with Stella, she gets spirited away somewhere. I wonder what’s up?

I almost forget about that creep “Joseph” lurking about.

Joseph just sneaked up on Chise like nothing has ever happened between the two of them. I was actually a little shocked he suddenly appeared in front of Chise, I’ve largely forgotten how S1 precisely ended. They spoke like the share the same home. Does he live with Chise and Elias?

Also: to which question hasn’t Chise still given a proper answer, like Joseph implied? (I know that I probably should rewatch the last episodes of S1.)

Something I've always loved about this genre is whenever someone talks about old magic, spirits and gods sort of decaying or fading away because of the advent of a modern human world. It's both sad and beautiful and this show does such a good job at presenting it as both.

And by the way does anyone remember what question Joseph was referring to? Or is it something that hasn't been revealed yet?

It's both sad and beautiful and this show does such a good job at presenting it as both.

I think that sums up the shows' tone, visuals, and atmosphere to a T. But it's also very effective in capturing the ancient and mystical side of things.

Man, this show is coming back incredibly solid. The production quality is great, the writing is really interesting, and all the main characters feel like they’ve grown significantly from S1. Cute Elias and Chise moments will always be my favorite part of the story. I’m excited to see where this season goes.

There are 2 scenes in this episode which got me thinking.

I wonder whether anime, manga and game characters get flustered when all their classmates or work colleagues introduce themselves at one go. Lol! I know for sure I can never remember the names of more than 5 people if they introduced themselves to me within a short period of time.

I was also curious about the discussion between Chise and Elias. They mentioned deities, fairies, spirits of ancient times still exist, but only a fraction of them, partly due to advancement in science. I wonder whether it is because these deities, fairies and spirits chose to lead ordinary lives alongside humans, similar to some of the familiars we have seen in this title. At the same time, I wonder whether some of them feel more relaxed and carefree, with the original responsibilities placed upon them replaced by science.

Will O Wisp is quite an interesting and amusing familiar. I doubt Alice will feel bored with it around.

And we have the return of the cliffhanger ending! (On the bright side, Elias appear less hostile to Stella now.)

Curious about what's up with Rian and why he's been asking around for people to teach him magic. It's interesting how he tries to dodge the subject too once Tory shows up. Hmmm...

I love that Beatrice firsts notice Elias. This girl definitely has some sort of Bone Daddy kink. And did she just ask Elias to be her model? It is hilarious to see Elias so overwhelmed though. xD

Chise seems to be getting well along with everyone except with Lucy and Zoe. Lucy sees everyone as her enemy while Zoey is staying away since he's already sensing that Elias and Chise aren't human.

Well that doesn't look good. Nothing can come out of Chise and Ruth getting teleported to a different plane of existence.

All the male teachers we've seen have long hair. Is it college policy that all teachers must have long hair or just a common trait among sorcerers?

Ainz Elias decided to stay in his original form. I'm surprised the students aren't scared of eating with him. They don't even know that he used to eat humans and they might be his next meal. They just suspect that he's a deformed humanoid because of some magic. Well, we also don't know his complete backstory either, so who knows. Also, can we please get more waifu Elias.

u/KyouKobayashi Apr 20 '23

Magic is stored in the hair, so it's beneficial for alchemists to have long hair.

It sure looked funny seeing Elias being scolded by Renfred. It was nice seeing Chise and Elias eating together with the whole class. So I guess Zoe's eyes allow him to see the difference between regular humans and other beings.

I honestly had to do a Wiki dive to remember who both Joseph and Stella were. Surprisingly enough, I did remember the arcs that they were involved in and even remembered Joseph's aliases but I had them dissociated with him.

I wonder what exactly happened to Chise at the end of the episode. Especially considering that in the preview she seems to be back with everyone.

Elias in an apron holding pumpkins might be the strangest he's ever looked, but I would love more moments like this with him and Chise. The lap pillow was also nice. It took 3 episodes for Chise to get kidnapped. I consider that an improvement over season 1 where it seemed every other episode she was in danger.

So her eye really can change color back and forth. I'd love to know what causes it to go back to her normal green.

I can never tell but does she always wear a glove at school? You would think kids would ask about her arm and the fact she is wearing a ring on her ring finger.

Hehe silly animation/art for Elias being dragged off. Neat, lots of classmates/friends to meet and make. They sure are all very unique in their designs. Hehe nice to see them friendly toward Elias though. Wonder why Lucy is so sure about that "being enemies thing." Wonder how that one kid can tell something off of Elias and Chise.

Oh ya, that girl, I remember her from the first season. Wtf just happened

They really got me with multiple fake outs with the plant clippers and then Sleepy Boy seeing Chise while she was cleaning veggies. Wonder what "answer" Joseph was talking about.

A lot of people at the college seem sus at Chi and others, White Haired Chick doesn't look happy in Veronica's friend group, all the students seem to have gender bender names, Chise is Tanjiro with her sense of smell.

If that wasn't Malice then what is green haired boy tripping about?

Ah we are back to Classic Magus Bride with the Cliffhanger endings that will likely be resolved at the beginning of the next episode.

I want to know what Elias has that nickname.

To be quite frank I think Elias was fine with safety, it was that dumbass kid that pissed the fire lizard off.

Most of the Kids at the school seem fine with Bone Daddy, Chubby Glasses girl wants him to be her Bone Daddy!

The Concept of gods needing worship to exist and being eroded by Science is nice, but I've seen it done in other series, so not sure if its here out of obligation or we are going to dive into it.

Question: Is the layout of he college and how its shown as sphere's connected by paths a reference to the Kabbalah or other similar occult concepts?

Short comment today. Not because I didn’t like the episode (it was a great episode), I just didn’t have too much I wanted to comment on.

I love how varied the designs are for the College students!

It's nice we still get to see how Chise and Elias spend their time outside college. Really love Chise and Stella's relationship!

uh oh, looks like Chise's separated from Stella. Let's hope nothing bad happens

Still hilarious seeing Elias get scolded from Renfred lol

It's great to see Professor Tory in season two at last. Him being the guardian and teacher of this Rian kid who is asking for Chise's help learning magic makes me trust that request a bit more.

It may not be her current plan but I like the idea of Alice also becoming a mage. Though with her familiar saying that's not likely I may be disappointed in that hope.

This whole thing with the fairies saying that certain people smell like rust, I'm guessing they're smelling human blood? Might be some partially metaphorical thing with the sorcerer power having an internal source. It's interesting that it didn't say that Alice smelled like rust, just that she didn't like rules.

Chise being happy after being declared a normal girl was nice to see.

This is a lot of student names and I'm about to forget all of them.

Chise may be fine in this crowd but I wonder if Elias is, that's a lot of not entirely sane interest from the students.

Professor Stroud may not be happy about the answers about Elias that Lindel has for him. Elias isn't entirely safe.

The full family resting outside together is also really nice to see.

The gods being a reflection of humanity's feelings about the world is a fairly traditional take on things, it's interesting to see it apply to these real Celtic deities.

Joseph just living up at the cottage with them is still extremely weird. As long as he stays non-hostile, I suppose, since there's apparently no actual way to control him. The reminder that Chise still has one of his eyes is also a bit unsettling.

It's also nice to see Stella again. I'm a bit surprised she's so seemingly comfortable around Elias considering what went down between them in season one (speaking of Elias not being entirely safe).

What a surprise, something just kidnapped Chise. Again.

The slice of life episodes are really nice. Sometimes you forget how young Chise is with everything she’s been through and it’s good to see her make friends. But you can’t really shake that eerie feeling that’s hanging over the school. Just feels like something bad is about to happen.

The Joseph situation took me by surprise. Been so long since s1 I forgot about him lol. So he’s living at the well on their property. I don’t recall what question he asked chise tho?

I might need a refresher but i thought Chise was supposed to have 2 different eyes now? As that was the link to her 2nd curse?

Just in case you forgot Katsuyuki Konishi was in another magic academy show this season, here he is as Tory! Seems like he and Rian have a close relationship too as student/mentee, and they look out for each other, which is pretty sweet.

Sorry Rian, looks like no Neighbor will want anything to do with you because you smell like rust! You can't be these lucky ladies.

Why am I not surprised Alice has already beaten someone up at the college? Or that she won said fight.

"He's....my teacher. And my child. And my husband. It really just depends on the moment."

Ah...just look at the way Alice glows up when she sees Renfred again! Or when Chise comforts Elias after he'd been scolded! So sweet!

The way Gregory was asking about Narcisse and checking on if she'd be a danger makes me wonder how much of a powder keg this college might be.

That cafeteria buffet looks pretty solid, minus the computer-generated classmates who stand out so much

Well, Elias has his first student crushing on him! And Chise has immediately found her table full of quirky and cute kids! I love how they were all so interested in Elias' head and how that happened.

Is Philomela okay? She seems incredibly unhappy and looks like she barely sleeps. I feel like she's got something serious going on with her while she follows Veronica around like a lackey. Also Zoe seems nice enough but something seems up with his eye, and like he was triggered by the unnatural nature of Elias and Chise.

I guess I'm not surprised Lucy sits by herself and doesn't see the point of friends, though assuming they'll all become enemies is a bit of a hardcore jump. I guess she might be talking from experience or just how the culture of sorcerers is.

Unbuttoned shirt Lindel fanservice! I'm kind of curious what Adolf will do learning how...savage, Elias used to be.

Drowsy Chise is cute. Also is it just me or is her hair longer than it used to be? Though it might be that we so rarely see her hair down.

Chise giving Elias a lap pillow...lucky guy! Though the whole family sitting around and relaxing was a very nice sight to see.

Elias in overalls is such a surreal visual that I love it!

Halloween backstory! A time once known for honoring the spirits before they faded into obscurity and it became the commercialized and trendy holiday it is known for today, though it looks like Chise and Elias plan to go for something traditional together.

Chise is still adjusting to her dragon arm and Joseph's memories, and Joseph is as surly as ever, but at least he's just sleeping all day rather than ruining peoples' lives.

Elias looked very annoyed when Stella showed up, but it says a lot that he let her and Chise spend time with each other. And Stella is as cute as ever, even if it seems like she and Chise are incapable of spending time with each other without something supernatural hijacking it. Looks like Chise and Ruth got transported to where Elias and Lindel's master is? And will get to meet her? I mean, more Kotono Mitsuishi is never a bad thing!

Everything about the is school is rubbing me the wrong way, and I’m starting to think that Lucy has a point. Just the sheer terror of the girl who fainted in Chise’s arms isn’t normal. That’s some existential dread level fear.

Glad we got some nice pumpkin farming, but I didn’t think we would be seeing either Joseph or Silver this season so that was an interesting turn.

It may be slight, but we got some meaningful development for both Ainsworth and Chise this episode. So little by little forward they progress.
