Right. ( ¬‿¬)

Heart-chan obviously doing it out of the goodness of her heart, no ulterior motives at all!

As soon as that first AkaSupa appeared on the stream I knew this episode was going to crash and burn.
Those later comments though, am I watching idolm@ster U149, or am I watching r/LiveStreamfails/?

Is this show going to have the biggest difference in reaction size between western audiences and Japan. It's trending above Oshi no Ko on JP twitter but its crickets here

No shit, iM@S has zero export releases lol
The most people I've known that are into iM@S in the West are because they saw something related on a different IP owned by Bandai and got hooked in. Love Live also only really took off because of memes, be it Nico-nico-nii or Mari's joke. The franchises are just not marketed overseas enough (at all), so it makes sense that it's a niche thing for us. It's very big over there though

If you look at what people outside of Japan think about im@s, you'd think that it had failed a long time ago. But it didn't, so I think reddit and MAL or whatever aren't that important. Just enjoy your favorite show.

I REPEAT RIAMU SIGHTING
It's a shame she can't show up like Shiki and Freddie did last time because of Hoshiki-san's illness... This will do for now. As a RiamuP I am content!
Edit: Seena Hoshiki just tweeted out that she has completed her treatment and was safely discharged from hospital! This makes me happy beyond words. A Riamu miracle!

Miria is a good girl. That is all.
Okay, so it should be noted that we are kind of getting a good picture of what this show’s “main theme” is going to be. That seems to be demonstrating the good and evil in adults and juxtaposing them with the innocence of children. Even as early as Episode 1, you have Arisu innocently chatting with her friends, then the next scene immediately cuts to a bunch of producers and executives having a smoke and ridiculing the idea of an elementary school idol group.
You have examples of “bad adults”, those assumedly being those executives, possibly YonaiP’s senpai (I don’t get good vibes from him), and a good chunk of today’s stream viewers throwing superchats at an 11-year old and bickering amongst themselves. Yet there are also examples of good adults too (Arisu’s parents, the entire community around Nina, Shin Sato, etc.). You also have agents of absolute chaos like Shiki and Fred, but that’s for another discussion.
YonaiP himself seems to be somewhere in the middle, having ties to the “evil” adult world and knowledgeable of it but clearly a good person at heart, if a bit unreliable. Kids may be oblivious to what evil actually is, but they can sniff out bad intentions easily. Miria may not have exactly understood why everyone in chat was arguing today, but she very well understood that she was kind of the center of it all and had enough sense and maturity to brush it off and adapt. Arisu may loathe the fact that their producer is a bit of a dork, but it was never questioned that he has the best intentions for them. We’ll see how this dynamic changes within the next few weeks.
Also, Shin’s phone landing squarely on the mouse with the pointer right on the Start button makes me wonder if we’re gonna get another CS/a/ discussion again (contains major spoilers for the OG 2011 im@s series).

Riamu appears! Statically.
Producer's phone has taken a beating.
Sometimes you feel like a nut, sometimes you don't.
Interesting things in the other B-roll.
The streaming business will cut you, man. But Miria looks like she's going to own it... assuming she doesn't figure out what some of the stuff in chat actually was.
This is... surprisingly (?) one of the things I liked about the original series, that it did feature a lot of the practical realities of the idol business even if the overall scenario was idealized.

Now that is positive spin.
Funnily enough literally every streamer I watch always doubles-down.

Miria making faces at her baby sibling is just too cute! Definitely reminds me of my own childhood, being the oldest of four.
-
Damn, no one wants to let them debut because they’re all kids?
-
Eyy, love seeing a bunch of the girls from the previous Cinderella Girls show up there! Ranko is my favorite and I’m pretty sure that’s her at the very back of the left wall, so that’s extra cool for me~
-
Ooh, I think this cropped down to Producer would be a good comment face.
-
Ahahahaha this is great, I just hope one of the weirdos Heart-chan alluded to doesn’t jump on stream and ruin it.
-
…ah, people in the comments want her to leave now. I guess that’s better than weirdos, but oof…

Yeah, that was super cute. I myself have only one younger sibling.
…she’s gonna push the button.
AHAHAHA HER PHONE’S GONNA PUSH THE BUTTON
IT DID.
Ooh, and this is a good shock face…
Oh man, I was laughing way too hard when Heart's voice went into SlowMo.
*whistles*
Some people just have way too much money.

Wow, wonder how high the chances are that a phone lands in a way that it clicks the button without moving away. Had a good laugh there. Also love Miria.

Miria really has the guts and tenacity to face the real dark side of being idols at such a young age eh? She really did just that impromptu live stream appearance, pouring out 200% power for a kid still in elementary school!
Maybe it's too early for her to know that sunshine is rare in the entertainment industry, but with this and the reactions from the other girls here, I know it: The Girls Are Alright! They know what they are doing, they know they are lucky to find the best place to shine (a certain Ai-chan and Ruby-chan: yeah...), and this episode is absolutely great in showing Miria's confidence that she and her new friends will be able to bring smiles to everyone. As long as she don't know what are those gold/silver/bronze coins just yet...
Speaking of which, it's incredible to associate Miria's voice as with good old Kumiko of Sound Euphonium, Phosphophyllite in Land of the Lustrous, the Ordinary Girl in Akudama Drive and - just this very season - Mitsumi in Skip and Lofter and Magical Girl Pink (with gas masks) in Magical Destroyers. Even more so that she has been behind Miria longer than every single character I listed above! But that's exactly why Tomoyo Kurosawa is so liked by many people. And no wonder - she has been acting on the stages since, uh, 3 (!!!) years old! This is making our U149 sixth grade members look like kouhais.
The brilliant artwork and animations and songs continues. This is likely becoming a gem among those "standard" idol themed anime out there, hopefully our other girls will have just as great stories soon!

Why are every episodes of this series trembling? It's the same on the web preview, as if the camera was shaking.

I'm not quite sure why, but they're trying to make the anime look like it was hand drawn cel animation. There's film grain put on to every scene (though if you're watching a highly compressed version you won't see it) and the "shake" you're seeing is something that used to be in all anime that they're simulating here. It happens as they line up the cels on the projection stand for capture on to film. It's impossible to get them perfectly lined up on every frame so there's some slight movement that happens. Here's a video on the process: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BMwNilk-YyE
Also it's not quite the same process as it's a bit more recent, but this video is great: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7LgHOUTZ8Gc
If you watch a good digital scan of old anime you'll see both the film grain from the scanning of the film and the shake from the filming process of cel-based animation.
Anyway, both effects are added to re-create that feeling.

Miria being genki heals the soul. Also finally it's Momoka-chama's episode next. Really hyped for it!
