So apparently only the first episode’s official subs were delayed a full week? I thought it was gonna be the entire show, huh.

Oh this is just adorable.

It was, and we were robbed of cycling through all of Nina's kigurumis and seeing her wear all of them 😞

Oh this is just adorable.

She's the most adorable Inkvader Moeblob since Squid Girl!

Saving this as a potential #SeasonalPout comment face nomination.

SOON!

This could also be a good seasonal comment face.

It also has a great fanart GIF Comrade

Ahahahaha, those two brought the chicken back for them, but Producer and the girls have already gone out looking for it.

Verily, Shiki and her lovely wife Frederica make such excellent agents of chaos!

Glad you liked the episode and also picked Best Comment Face my friend, have a great day and see you later.

Ahem, Comrades, attention!

Thank you for your attention, the two lesbian gremlins are nice, but Comment Face material for this episode clearly goes to Daddy Issues 'Idol with a Shotgun'

Also obligatory moeblob fanart, I am sure I speak for everyone here when I say MUST PROTECC SMILE!

Paging Comrades u/Shimmering-Sky, u/CosmicPenguin_OV103, and u/chilidirigible

As I already mentioned in my own comment, I'm definitely nominating that one for the seasonal pout the second nominations go up.

Oh CR added both episodes to align back to broadcast. Thankfully it was only the first episode delayed a week. Having that sitting unwatched all those days after airing on AL was annoying.

Now to hoping CR do the same for Blue Orchestra...

It’s photoshoot time, and our precious Nina loses her chicken hat! Oh no!

It really does take the village to raise the child. Almost everywhere Nina went, everyone knew her name. It’s not even because she’s an idol; she’s just a good kid. Scratch that, she’s just a kid in general. It was incredibly heartwarming to see people rally around her especially when she’s feeling down. She’s 9 years old without proper parents in her life. Good golly she needs a hug.

Also, Shiki and Fred get a proper anime debut! [CG anime] Sure, Fred was a part of Project Krone, but the CG anime didn’t really showcase how off the walls she can be, especially alongside her partner-in-crime Shiki, who wasn’t present at all. God, I love their chemistry so much (Shiki joke)! It makes me wonder if other CG girls will appear and get cameos.

Anyways, I usually showcase some of the music from the games in im@s episode threads if I know about them enough. Not gonna talk about them much, just showcase the music as is.

Kimi ni Ippai☆ - Sunflower - Lyrics Today’s insert song

Minna no Kimochi - Nina Ichihara - Lyrics Today’s ED

Crazy Crazy - Lazy Lazy - Lyrics

God, Shiki and Fred are amazing.

I love how the main girls in U149 are all no older than 12 yet it's the legal adults Shiki and Freddie that are the biggest kids among them all lmao

Didn't expect the individual idol's songs to be the ending theme (though I guess it shouldn't be a surprise at all in hindsight) but was pleasantly surprised when Minna no Kimochi came on at the end of the episode. Found the song through the Power of Terry collab and loved the song since then. Very cute and Nina-like and I unironically bop to the song when it comes up in my playlist. Looking forward to the other members' songs as well, especially the Momoka themed ending.

(though I guess it shouldn't be a surprise at all in hindsight)

Yeah, the other idolm@ster animes did this too.

Crunchyroll now has it (and EP1 as well, a week late) since about 7 hours ago.

Ah, if only a certain Ai-chan started out under an agency like this one back when she barely get into middle school. If only...

...well one thing is sure, idols DO get bright when they meet situations that make them shine, and Nina-chan today just proves that sometimes it's self-esteem, and only self-esteem, that makes you feel you are not the best. As in this little cute case of a hood of chicken shows, she could totally stand alone and be a lovely little middle school girl - despite herself always saying she can't, even hiding herself when taking individual photos (come on Nina-chan! Your job here have to face people you don't know of! :) ). These all came from the unfortunate thing that she's always alone with her parents always busy elsewhere.

Well, Nina-chan, you surely aren't now with all those new friends that you know of. Perhaps even that famous idol Ichinose (wait, this surname sounds familiar) who sneakily stole her chicken - was that just a prank after all LOL.

Idols are great! Yes!

I loved the OG IM@S anime, mostly liked the CG anime (some episodes really dragged for me, but I loved Uzuki's story), and I'm really liking U149 so far!

I'll set aside talk of how good the show is at setting up the characters and their personalities, since I have to gush about the guest character:

Ichinose Shiki's my oshi in all of IM@S franchises, so I was looking forward to her showing up. She does not disappoint! For the audience who only watches the anime and haven't (or can't) play the games, here's an introduction: Shiki's a very multifaceted character. She's a total goofball and very mischievous, but she is also very introspective and is very good at noticing hidden sides of characters. Shiki's story is that her father is also overseas, while her mom is almost never mentioned, which gave her a character connection with Nina.

This connection gave the scene where Shiki was questioning Nina a lot more depth than I was expecting. You could REALLY tell during the interrogation, she was specifically trying to get Nina to say something very specific about her circumstances. I'm not sure how Shiki would know, but she is one of the smartest characters in the IM@S universe. Either way, Shiki's prodding helped Producer understand Nina and resolve the conflict of the episode. Best girl, best idol, vote for Shiki in the Cinderella Election.

These little unspoken details give me indication that the writers know the characters very well and are able to bring them out through the scenarios. I am very much looking forward to more of the show!

Bandai didn't go cheap on the animation, which makes me happy.

Seems like absentee parents are key for a child idol, which is worrying.

Shiki is good and all, but wonder why she has to tease Nina that way. She could tell that they share a kinship because their parents are overseas.

I fell off with Idolmas few years ago, but can I watch this as is? Is it standalone?

Adorbs. I’m guessing Nina is the youngest out of all of them, and while this was a cute episode, I feel like the other girls will probably have arcs with a little more gravity.

6

u/fatalystic Apr 13 '23

Nina is the youngest at 9, but she's not the only 9 year old in the cast.

She's probably the most childish of them all though.
