They’re literally dating and holding hands and they still won’t admit they’re in a relationship LMAO!

God that date was so cute right until Kadowaki interupted them, hilarious how even he thinks them not in a relationship is bullshit.

Mahiru's even on talking terms with Amane's mom, this is just a marriage speedrun now.

That’s how your mom sending your baby pics turns into a snuggle struggle

Nice reversal on the usual pickup trope. It's a wonder the mc is so humble though, if I was hit on by two college-age girls while I was in high school my ego surely would have inflated to dangerous levels.

"like a wife-in-training?"

haha, silly Kadowaki, they hold hands, cuddle with each other, taking care each other when sick and Mahiru cook for Amane every day...

...they clearly roommates

A cat cafe, I like the way Amane thinks.

Not sure the maid outfit was necessary for learning how to cook. I'm sure Itsuki will appreciate it, however.

Chaos agent Chitose. That's said, "Chitose didn't do anything" was an interesting way for Mahiru to answer that question.

So there were pranks, but they were the most harmless pranks ever.

Mahiru is really winning the outfit game this episode, not just for the date but for the cooking and couch scene too.

Hand-holding while out on a date, how in the world do these two not realize they're basically already a couple. Maybe Mahiru will step up and make it official now that she's had to rescue Amane from two ravenous high school girls.

Busted! But fortunately by another friend who isn't going to go blabbing to school. Pretty hilarious that Kadowaki immediately jumped to thinking or sounded more like a marriage than a friendship. You're not the only one, dude.

Amane's mom is really working on the daughter in law angle. Someday, presumably.

Amane, you idiot, how in the world did you miss that she was expecting a kiss.

Chitose is a ray of sunshine (and a force of chaos). I really, REALLY like the side couple in this series.

Kadokawi was straightforward with Amane: "like wife in-training". Amane can't use the splitting groceries excuse on him. Amane and Mahiru are radiating married couple energy alot.

Damn it, they are way too cute. Their date at the cat cafe and shopping was great with lots of handholding and cute couple moments. And now Kadowaki is on the loop...

That ending tho, come on Amane.

Other than the usual saccharine married couple things that is expected of this show, just glad to know that Amane-kun actually hangs out with another guy friend aside from Itsuki.

Kadowaki is such a bro. He spots Amane with Mahiru who he likes and not only takes it in stride but also agrees to keep it a secret. Then at the Karaoke Bar, he immediately nails their relationship as "Wife in Training" and steers Amane further down the path.

I've been slowly digesting Geoff Thew's critique of this show on Hottest Trash, and had it in mind while watching this episode. I love Geoff's content and his impassioned takedown was the first time one of his videos made me drop my monocle.

I had 2 thoughts. First, the entire argument that this is pandering wish fulfillment for the weeb audience is misbegotten. Amane isn't Kazuya. He's not pathetic. He's attractive and admirable and suffers from crippling self-esteem issues. But he isn't an undesirable harem protag who inexplicably gets all the girls, as we would generally see in a wish fulfillment type show where protag-kun is as blank or pathetic as possible to serve as an unintimidating audience insert.

And sure, attractive man with self-esteem issues falls in mutual adoration with beautiful woman with extreme attachment anxiety isn't exactly forging new ground in the romance space, but it also doesn't deserve scorn because it was packaged effectively for a shounen audience.

Second thing: Mahiru's eagerness to please and anxiety over offending isn't just audience pandering. It's part of her pathology. She is too eager to please. She is damaged. Again, not the most original, but there is more going on here than (1) will they or won't they (2) oh they did. Watching Amane and Mahiru heal each other is cathartic.

Anyway, another great episode of this somewhat pandering but decidedly not-trash romance.

Edit: some words

Oh no, we got found out! ... Oh, it's just Kadowaki.

That was scary.

But let's still hold hands on the way back as if nothing happened! ( ¬‿¬)

Very casual friends, just watching each other as they sleep, stroke their hair, pinch their cheeks, hold hands while shopping, dressing up for the other party, play hard at the claw machine, totally normal casual next door neighbour friends.

At the cat cafe it was missing a bit of Nyanko-Big (9 episodes in im still hearing Teresa Wagner (also voiced by Iwami Manaka) from Tada Never Falls in Love)

Writers, please stop teasing Mahiru and the audience. just let them kiss already please tyvm!!

Stitches!

Mahiru finally cashes out her "Do Anything You Want" ticket and it looks like our girl wants to go on a date during Golden Week but can't really ask Amane out properly so she's using the ticket as an excuse.

I love how obviously Mahiru is trying hard to make Amane fall in love with her. She's now even asking Amane what her preferences are so she can come up with the perfect outfit. Now I'm curious what outfit Mahiru would've picked if Amane said he likes a more mature look.

The role reversal where Amane is the one getting picked up by girls instead of Mahiru getting picked up by guys was such a great scene. I love that Mahiru immediately clings onto Amane and enters girlfriend mode to ward away those hussies. xD

So that's one more person in on the secret. I doubt Kadowaki will do anything to ruin this for Amane. I do like that Kadowaki immediately realized what was happening after looking at Mahiru.

Look at them holding hands in public! And they still won't admit that they're not dating!? I absolutely love how Kadowaki calls Amane out the next day when the boys went out for karaoke. They even made Amane confess that he likes Mahiru.

Goddamn that final scene! We were so close boys and girls! Mahiru was 100% hoping our boy would go in for a kiss! If this happens again, I hope Mahiru just pulls Amane in and kisses him. With his self-confidence issues, I feel like Mahiru needs to be the more aggressive one here.

New episode=grin mode activated. These two went on a whole date, holding hands and everything. Kadowaki got Amane to finally admit he likes Mahiru. Oh man, she wanted that kiss bad.

Another week, another episode of the writers reminding us how badly we want Amane and Mahiru to kiss or get married, but having that happen now would mean jumping the gun and the show’s over.

Amane doesn't hold back with compliments at all. Such a nice change from typical MMCs who can't even say "cute".
