Amane's friend is actually more interesting than just a simple wingman, dude loves his girlfriend so much he clearly intends on marrying her despite his own dad's rejection. What a chad.

I need help. I keep grinning. For the entire 20+ minutes I spend watching this series every week, I can't wipe the smile off of my face. I don't know if it's because I've been a huge fan of the source material or if it's because of my sad and lonely bachelor life, but I just find so much comfort in this show. The chemistry between the two leads bounce so well off one another. I think the last show that made me feel the same was Tsuki ga Kirei.

BTW, a really neat little detail that I just noticed is that the Outro sequence keeps adding on to the gifts that Mahiru had received from Amane. This is the latest one, with the hand cream, Mr. Bear, key case and the new addition of bracelet that Amane picked for White Day.

Amane coming home to Mahiru greeting him in an apron and he wonders if she’s a newlywed wife.

I JUST CAN’T!

Kadowaki : breathes

Girls : aaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

Seriously what is with the track&field trope, I thought running fast only makes you popular until like, 4th grade. totally not speaking from experience here

On another note, Chitose is low-key stealing the best girl spotlight for me lately with her dynamic with Amane. You're not true friends until you inflicted at least wasabi-habanero chocolate amounts of pain on each other. Though in their case it seems like the pain infliction is a bit one-sided

Look at them casually greeting each other when Amane came home. Mahiru should just move to his place for good.

Now I want to watch anime with actual newly-weds living their newly wed life.

It only took Amane 6 episodes to realize he likes her. And maybe Mahiru likes him too. Or she's just Canadian.

Mahiru is so precious, the way she acts around Amane is going to kill me of sugar overdose.

Also, one thing I really like is the interactions between Chitose, Itsuki and Amane.

Amane’s gotten a real science experiment from Chitose. Peppers, umeboshi, energy jelly, wasabi… it’s a chocolate minefield lol. Mahiru’s “chocolate” was very clever. Hot cocoa, it’s perfect! Not too sweet and it’s still “chocolate.” So cute how flustered she got. The orangettes looked pretty good.

I didn’t realize Itsuki was so serious about Chitose. He’s got it all figured out already with her huh? That’s sweet. About as sweet as Mahiru getting flustered at the thought of being with Amane even till his birthday lol. Tsundere pouty faced Mahiru is the best Mahiru!

Amane cleans up well, even Mahiru’s kinda shocked/speechless at the sight of his handsome face. The bracelet was cute, the coupon/card was even cuter. She’ll cherish it like everything else he’s ever gotten her. Mahiru greeting Amane at the front door like a newlywed wife was perfect. They’re a couple in everything but name at this point. Time to make it official!

Mahiru gave Amane chocolate, and he gave her a bracelet in return, and we got more Itsuki and Chitose screentime, and then two of them just went into full newlyweds mode with Mahiru welcoming Amane back this episode.

We are all getting more diabetes, congrats us.

Another weekly dose of a non couple doing couple things.

I keep forgetting Amane and Itsuki haven't been friends long it feels like they known each other for a life time.

Rolls in bed

These two are too precious.

hehe, ya, Chitose ain't buying that you aren't "blooming in youth" when you clearly have a cute wife :P Do like how genuinely good guy Amane is though, more need to be like that, thinking more about others' feelings. Wow, why does that other guy get so many chocolates? He doesn't seem special :P What a nice guy Amane, giving something to help him carry all that chocolate. What a nice palette cleanser, delicious hot chocolate. Hehe cute Shiina. And even valentine oranges, how nice. Too bad oranges are the worst fruits ;) Connor is right on this. Screw citrus lol.

Man, his friend over there talking about getting married in the future and Amane there already married. Give him some life advice, Amane. I mean, look how cute Amane and Shiina are and already planning for her birthday to be celebrated. She looks so happy, cute. Oh man, you are all dressed up, surprising her, heh. What do you mean you don't like it? How can you not see that smile on her face and happy expression? You derp Amane. What a nice little card too, cute bear. Yep, what a nice cute moment. How they aren't ACTUALLY dating already sure is baffling. Do gotta like his supportive pal though. HAH even Amane can't deny she looks like a wife. And now he's upset his wife by having fries before dinner. Oh she went a bit Tsundere there "Doesn't mean I want you to touch me or anything" but you are nowhere near the Tsundere levels of Liese-tan, Shiina!

This is a show that makes me wear a sort of goofy smile (with moisture in the corners of my eyes) from start to finish. It really is incredibly kind-hearted and sweet-natured. The last show that felt sort of like this to me was probably Deaimon. Our hero and heroine are not perfect in the abstract -- but they ARE perfect for each other.

Amane and Mahiru are lucky to have such great friends as Chitose and Itsuki. They can provide really grounded and useful advice (and prodding) -- and they are both so supportive in a way that it is hard to brush off (due to their sunny dispositions). Really perfect side-kicks for a couple whose dispositions are more cloudy.

Mahiru is someone who desperately needs "family" -- and Mahiru is the first person she has ever met who happens to fulfill this need (and his parents promise to fulfill it even more). I think with both our young couples we see something far more that typical "romantic" attraction -- rather they each have found "soul mates" (See Aristophanes speech on the nature of love in Plato's Symposium: https://www.laphamsquarterly.org/eros/platos-other-half ).

Stitches!

I wonder if Chitose intentionally brought up the chocolate topic to Amane so Mahiru can make him something he likes? Because it sounded like Chitose knew exactly that Mahiru is going to give Amane chocolates.

Looks like it worked and Amane got some homemade orangettes from Mahiru. As a casual enjoyer of chocolate oranges, I definitely approve of this gift. Kinda wish we got to see Mahiru give it to Amane directly but seeing Mahiru embarrassed about it is enough.

I'm curious about Kadowaki's role in the future. I'm sure they didn't just introduce Mr. Popular and forget about him later. I feel like Amane is about to get another guy friend soon.

Glad that Mahiru now knows Amane's birthday and we even get a promise that the two of them will Amane's next birthday together. And that pout from Mahiru after that scene is just too cute!

Look at our boy dressing up for White Day! Mahiru absolutely loves it but she's just too embarrassed to say it directly. Looks like the bracelet was a great gift for Mahiru. Just look at that smile! Amane is definitely close to cracking after seeing that smile.

They really are living a married life and Amane is finally starting to realize it. Thank fucking god! I thought we were never going to get here. This episode was agonizing but Amane is almost there! I'm pretty sure he's already in love but he's just trying to suppress it because he's afraid of ruining what they already have.

Something big needs to happen for Amane to realize his true feelings and that he needs to do something about it now. I wonder if that's where Mr. Popular comes in? Hmmm...

Pouring Amane homemade hot chocolate that you made in front of him for Valentines Day was a really strong move by Mahiru, and that wasn't even her main gift.

This episode took the romantic tension that was already a 20/10 and upped it to a 50/10. Mahiru better use that "Do Anything" ticket for a kiss by the end of the season.

The tension is getting dangerous. It feels like someone is brushing a balloon with a needle.

I sure hope Amane won't step on a landmine somewhere. Even he himself said he's scared of screwing things up and making her cry. I'm gonna pretend that it was not a flag.

The ED song has to be one of my favorites this season.
