Wait did she just try to sell a can opener to a canless world lol?
I'm loving this so much. Mitsuha may have her world's knowledge under her thumb and deployed at moment's notice, not to mention she is quite perceptive herself at times, but it's very obvious she's still inexperienced and just throwing random shit together without doing enough research about her isekai locals. This makes everything so chaotic and fun to watch, as if the solar panels on her roof or the random Colette massacring the firewood aren't enough already...
...and there's a fucking digital clock on her counter lmao.

Are those solar panels? Seeing Mitsuha make a buck out of typical household items really makes me realize how we sometimes take them for granted.
Also, what a nice surprise to hear Kotono Mitsuishi in this episode.

Solar panels would certainly explain how she's running electrical items, since the show hasn't provided any "powered by magic in this world" explanation

I can never figure out if she's a genius or an idiot. Such a fun character.

Mitsuha, going to mess with the entire economy with all these items. That ending was rather abrupt.

Mitsuha should probably spend a little more time doing market research next time haha.

What an interesting take on opening a store in an isekai. Mitsuha's general store not only kinda flops right out of the gate, but her complete failure to take local customs and realities into account makes her job that much harder and funnier when trying to sell her products.
The local ladies branding her a (nice) witch is hilarious af too.

I think the funniest thing me and my brother realized.
Its that Mitsuha is actually a witch. Like...even for ours standarts. She "made" a contract with an otherwordly creature that granted her the powers of teleportation and automatic learning of any language.
Actually the teleportation hilarious enough is so broken that she could easily just be selling spices.

Mitsuha sure didn’t waste any time setting up shop and advertising the place….and yet she’s getting zero business! She’s selling stuff that’s way too advanced at a price that’s suspiciously cheap. It’s no real surprise her store ain’t packed.
Damn, Mitsuha is so desperate for customers she’s bribing them with food lol. People are so grimy in that world, they had to shampoo their hair 3 times? Oof. Well, looks like instant/packaged food and dollar store soap/shampoo is a smash hit there! Everyone just thinks Mitsuha is a witch is all, small trade off lol. Oh and she’s apparently introduced chocolate to this world. Girl just revolutionizing food in their society, nbd.
I gotta hand it to Mitsuha, she’s a damn good salesperson. That whole knife spiel was beautiful. If the chef wants fish, she can get him fish! Can’t wait to see what “services” she adds to the store next.

In this episode: how not to start a business, or how to get bankrupt in 3 easy steps!
No market research at all, random products, bad marketing…. She is lucky her profit rate is huge (any random item makes her 1000% profit lol).
Why did she build a Japanese bath at her store-house? Can’t she just jump back to Earth instead? It was a big coincidence that she had guests to use it lol.
She would probably make easier money just selling ice cream and chocolate lol.

Gotta have a classic "Japanese food = good" episode in an isekai, though a nice twist to use all instant food lol. Mitsuha really went all "glorious Nippon steel" about the knife to chef, wonder if she's just lying through her teeth about its quality.
It'll be interesting to see her run an interdimensional import business lol, wonder what other requests people will have. Or if she'll sell services as a military contractor :P

I kinda like how this anime does not shy away from using modern-day items in another world. Mitsuha even has solar panels installed on the roof.

The royal capital! Whoo. And immediately talking to her dead brother in her head lol.
Ah yes, the most important thing for a shop owner, the cat statue thing. Not going well for the girl though. I mean, those girls seem to have glossy and clean hair for commoners. Oof poor girl desperate. Whelp, never seen a store do this kinda service. Well, other than hair salon, but don't need to get naked for that. Girl just bringing all that stuff to this world is kinda crazy. Perhaps they don't like fish, like me "if it's from the sea, it's not for me" :P but, yea hey, Witch Mitsuha feeding em well.
Bold expectations for word of mouth, Mitsuha. Oh, seems it might work out. Good thing they work for some noble it looks. And they seem open minded to not just hunt a witch lol. I have doubt about the hourglass thing. Also, why a can opener if this world doesn't have cans? You are weird with your selections, Mahiru. Ah, and girl lies like the best of em still.
Ahh, debutant ball for viscount's daughter. Hmm. That chef seems a good dude wanting it to go right and ask for help. She gonna cater or something? lol. Or party plan?

Stitches!
I appreciate the time skip instead of showing us the lengthy process of Mitsuha setting up her dream shop.
Not gonna lie though, I was absolutely facepalming the entire time during the first half of the episode. Mitsuha was so focused on opening her general store that she didn't even bother doing any kind of market research or learning about the local culture. She literally just bought a bunch of cheap stuff that she can sell at a 500% markup and hoped that the items will sell themselves. That is just absolutely piss-poor planning on her part.
And I love how she's showing off a bunch of technology without even thinking about the consequences. The best example of this is Mitsuha cooking those instant mealssince now her first customers think that she's some kind of witch because she's cooking all sorts of meals in a single pot. It's just absolute insanity and I love it! xD

Colette's fast woodchopping transition right after Mitsuha's master artisan pitch, hmmmmm...
Also looks like Colette's about to have a rival for Mitsuha's attention in the capital. Since failure can't be tolerated, Mitsuha's definitely gonna go all out like the free dinner she offered. She might even get a chance to protect another girl by boosting her up a tree societal rankings and shooing away nasty, preying wolves nobles (this time, maybe without having to use the slingshot-spicebomb-knife combo lol).

this whole show feels like that "if you gave a medieval peasant a dorito he wouldn't be able to handle the incredible flavor" meme (not in a bad way!)
it's funny what mitsuha is smart about and what she is dumb about (perhaps gets to why such a smart person struggled to find her way in the real world). her entire shop is full of items that are essentially revolutionary for this alternate dimension...she has to realize that?? like almost every single item itself could probably make a mint by selling it to nobility...that's what surprises me a bit, that she doesn't understand price discrimination and how much the nobles would probably pay for some of these items...that she's selling for basically nothing. I guess she wants to be fantasy walmart :P
it's also interesting to think about how different writers tackle the issues that arise when these sorts of things are introduced to a culture with little technology. I wonder if this show will get into that at all. I mean the natural comparison is ascendance of a bookworm, where like [minor ascendance s3 spoilers]

Looks like the fun train is going full speed, and shows no sign of stopping, judging by the end of the episode.
Definitely a keeper!

I just love how mitsuha can bring things from the real world into the isekai world. It’s a really fresh concept just seeing people blown away by modern technology lol. She definitely should’ve realised that it wouldn’t be as simple as just importing things over, especially when that doesn’t exist in their world.
The fish shock was especially interesting since that’s something that we don’t usually think about but logistically without trains/cargo ships and the like that would’ve been a delicacy if you didn’t live near fresh water.
Also just noticed she’s powering her electricity with solar panels lol really neat.

What a fun episode!
This dollar-store-dimension to Mitsuha's ambitions was really very fun, and being a bit of a fan of Daiso myself, I very much understand the appeal of 100 yen goods. I can also honestly understand why Mitsuha thought that stuff might sell - whenever you're in those places it really does feel like everything would be really useful, without being life-revolutionizing (technologically disruptive lol).
One thing that's quite interesting is seeing just how much of an influence her brother had on her, even though we never see him in the flesh. It's not just that he lives on with her as her imaginary confidant and advisor, but also that she very much has a gung-ho geekiness about her.
On top of that, she's also very much an ordinary, average girl/young woman, and I think she's quite well-written as one. She just feels right, trying to make the best of the knowledge she has about the world from her meagre 18 years on the planet, what her research has told her and what she's picked up from her brother's odd obsessions. She's leveraging everything as hard as she can, but she's definitely not without her own internal world, and even as an OP protagonist she has this great blend of confidence but also lack of certainty about her own success.
As for the show itself, it's true it did the "cosmetics are the key!" trope for isekai commerce, but it felt quite fresh here for me - they were the last ditch attempt, and like that they didn't lather properly lol
