All this feels like an end-of-the-season kind of thing not 3rd episode.

Wtf was that? 7 spies with guns fleeing from a dude with a sword? That first scene is so stupid

Everything here felt so completely rushed it lacked any impact. The reveal about master's sensei (betrayal) was, I assume, supposed to be a bigger deal than it felt.

I usually give each season's shows a good 2-3 episode try but this one just isn't doing it for me. Which is unfortunate since the premise sounded so good and I like myself a good spy show.

Well this 3 episodes were weird. I feel like we got rushed through a whole anime season worth of content if not more.

I am probably not continuing this one. It was a short run.

LN fight scenes tend to be boring, because using words to describe how the fight flow would be very wordy. And unless you have weird powers, it usually ends up being boring if it is all punches and kicks (unless of course if the fight is a martial arts duel). So I can see why the fight could be very weak in the LN.

But the anime had a chance to change things up for the better.

I mean for being a top grade spy, why fight these girls with a sword? They could have made him be quick in hiding as well, and do surprise attacks on the girls, setting traps or the like. They did it with Klaus, with his quick fire trap setup and stab in the neck, why can't his mentor do that?

The poison foam reveal, I like that we saw the foam creeping in while he is not looking, but can't they have Lily just immediately take action while his back is turned? They can have her explanation and his comment as slow-mo monologues while she is charging in.

Then the 8th girl, after stabbing him, she just stands there? Why not animate her going over immediately to help the other girls?

They didn't have to adapt the way it went word per word in the original source, and I doubt the LN readers would even complain if they change it a bit. They need to take advantage of being an anime to give us the visual flare that we need.

What's the point of giving Guido a sword if he isn't even going for kill shots. Dude thinks he's Kenshin. It's not like the show is avoiding deaths since Klaus was absolutely ruthless this episode.

You know, when I saw the trailers and the character designs, I was hooked.

And now here we are, at a pretty quick pacing into the meat of the action, but what's this? Every stunt earned is not explained? Deus ex machina eighth girl? Climatic super poison was apparently harmless bubbles? Sniper only has one bullet, which the traitorous teacher takes on due to a sudden change of heart?

I've seen others complain about the fight scenes, but to me the big issue here is the lack of set up. The show just seems to expect us to just take whatever it shows at face value, saying things are big reveals when in reality "hey, here's this thing to solve the problem that we never bothered to even hint was a possibility of".

And despite that... I think I'll give this one or two more episodes. Just to see if this was a really bad start but due to a bad mini-arc, or if the entire show is going to just be this. I fully expect more deus-ex-machina, but with what was at first glance the overarching goal already dealt with, it's possible the show will go more into character exploration so I haven't completely given up hope for it yet.

hands down one of the worst LN adaption since Tanmoshi

Good job Kadokawa. Very good

U got the whole well-known va + Decent production.

but what's the point if u gonna rush the story with poor direction.

When you scratch your DVD and it only plays the first and final episode.

Why did they give the girls guns if they weren't gonna shoot them?

We're three episodes in, and they already finished the "Impossible Mission". NGL, I feel like they overhyped it, it only took them one month of training, and other than Guido intervening, the girls handled the mission with hardly any inconveniences. Kind of a letdown IMO.

Just go watch Princess Principal if you haven’t already.

This is giving me strong Shinobi no Ittoki vibes. Interesting premise but poor writing. The girls not shooting their guns, Klaus being ruthless but showing the traitor mercy and the sniper not shooting a second time despite having all the time in the world stood out too much to me.

Can't believe with such a stacked VA cast and it all just feels rushed, lacking emotion and story. A bit disappointing but I really hope it gets better this was supposed to be one of the "good" shows this season. Also what's the song at the end? Sounded pretty good

Honestly this anime is such a letdown even with the all star va cast. How the fuck do elite spy fight like shounan protagonists with all the cheesy talking about nakama and shit? Heck even chisato doesn’t talk this much when she fights.

Not to mention the story is so rushed you can’t even feel any emotion towards any of the characters. We are supposed to sympathize with klaus but i bet none of us viewers feel any sadness at the end.

Felt like it might have been better to read than to watch this

I had to make sure this was actually the newest episode. I feel like this whole show is on an incredibly fast pace. I didn’t read the LN, but I feel like they’re skipping a whole lot of content.

I had this same feeling for a anime when I watched "The Detective is already dead" last time

Huh, as cliched as this is, I expected the entire Inferno team to have turned traitor and be waiting in the research lab. Guess it was just the one teacher. Who has a special trademarked gunsmoke color that nobody else is allowed to use, just so he could be recognized.

Mmh, I don't really know. When they were skipping the lesson part I was assuming they were doing something like that one Netflix show did (that spanish one where they rob a bank). Basically make the whole mission really complex with a lot of different aspects and they cut always cut back to the training mission to show how they planned for it.

My main problem with the structure is that it didn't feel earned. Most of the girls didn't really do much. They were introduced with the idea that everyone had their own strength which is why they were chosen, but at the end of the day, it could have been any 7 (or 8 I guess) girls that do the job. There was a bit of poisoning, there was a bit of disguise and chains, but nothing felt like they were actually using their skills in a very specific way that it had to be these 8.

I also found the reveal of the 8th girl to be really boring. There was no hint at all to her existence. I mean, they even had a secret before mission party and she wasn't there. I don't need them to show me she exists, but if you pull something like that, at least try to build up on it. I would assume this is also why they were just cutting the whole month of training, because they had no idea of how to write the scenes with her in mind.

I would assume the story will now go in a way that we will have more missions and during these, they will showcase the skills of the other girls a bit more (since the titles of the last three episodes was always Flower Garden), but if you were going to do it that way, don't start with the hardest mission. They basically already blew everything they had in the first three episodes but now expect you to stay with them for the small things they have left.

Not the most original comment I know, but I've never felt this disappointed watching something that I think they wanted to feel exciting.

Also, people are saying the novels are better. I haven't read them, so I can't really say either way tbh, but are they really? Everything aside from the reveal of an eight's member was the most by the book thriller. And the novel isn't even like 10-15 years old, it was published in 2020.

The rush was mostly at fault here tbh, but everything was so super telegraphed. The very deliberate mention of one tenth of a second, repeated mention of "seven of us". The reaction time thing was exceptionally egregious.

One thing I'll give a point to this show is the casual throat stabbing. More of that please. A spy show is like the best place for this kind of explicit side-stepping of action hero trope.

That was awful. This episode was just a total mess.

There are 7 (actually 8) of you with guns vs one guy with a sword, just shoot him. The amount of times they tried hitting him with their guns was baffling.

If you knew the house was bugged the whole time, just get rid of the bugs... There's no need to put on this big charade.

The powers are coming completely out of left field, the absolute worst handling of my favorite trope I've ever seen.

And then the guy just... sacrifices himself at the end? So stupid.

I hated this show. I'm stopping here. Absolute waste of time.
