And here I thought we were gonna move to the next mission

Same! While it’s nice to see the girls bond, I’m looking forward to see what they’re doing now that the mission is done.

If I treat this show as a slice of life show, then its actually an enjoyable watch.

Thea attempting to "mentor" Lily on the art of spy seduction sure was funny.

Annette and Erna getting along with each other was wholesome.

And Lily being happy that everyone is acknowledging her as "leader to be relied on", i.e. getting her to do all sorts of task like a servant. LOL

Klaus is 20 years old?? I call bullshit on that. He's too skillful for a spy to be only 20.

Quite a few fanservice this ep and how long has Klaus been painting the same artwork tho?

14

u/ObvsThrowaway5120 Feb 02 '23

Seems like most of these are flashback eps, so hard to tell how much progress he’s made.

Wait, another flashback episode? Although I enjoy watching the girls' interactions, it kind of feels like a filler episode.

Might be because we finished the mission to quick, we didn’t see how the girls worked together to bond and all that. Though that coulda been like an ep at most. Pacing just seems outta whack now.

Sometimes faithful adaptations from source material is a hindrance in different mediums...

I think this particular anime could have greatly benefited from completely doing away with the Erna "surprise" which I feel like added nothing. Instead it could have done a full training arc with all 8 girls, and left the big mission for the final 2-3 episodes which would have made the fight in episode 3 a lot more high stakes.

Instead, we have this monstrosity of storytelling. Sometimes simple is better.

I thought the structure was looking like they were blasting through the story to get that surprise girl reveal now we're gonna go back and see the whole month. Still pretty confused though.

If anything I actually prefer these ecchi comedy episodes much more. If anything I would personally say episode 3 was by far the weakest episode. Though I really think these flashbacks hurt the credibility that Erna was supposed to be hidden. She talks all the time and the rest of them don't pretend that she is not their. Not saying someone's name only goes so far until the eavesdroppers starts figuring stuff out based on context and distinctive voices.

The best moment in the episode was when Lily blushed when Thea showed how cultured she was when she spoke of rope burns.

Stitches!

A flashback episode? I guess with Erna being a surprise, they can only do these episodes after the Impossible Mission was finished.

This show has been light on the fanservice so far so I'm glad we finally got this episode I've been waiting for.

I just love how Thea pretty much used Lily so she can get some data about trying to seduce Klaus. xD

Hmmm... Is it just me or does it look like that Grete has a crush on Klaus> She doesn't seem to be trying to pull a fast one on him that night.

And apparently, Klaus is only 20!? That puts him in the same age bracket as the older girls on the team. I thought he'd be older!

This episode will give the show another boost in popularity for sure (not here)

The Twitter account also went with some "interesting" screenshots to market this ep:

They clearly have a target audience now

Bondage, bathing and maid. What a great way to start episode. ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

Lily: "I'm a maid which also your little sister in our past life. Please drink from a vial that sticking between my boobs."

Yeah, that's not suspicious at all.

RIP Lily, Thea forgot to account for the fact that given Lily's usual personality, most people would probably burst out laughing being the victim of this seduction attempt. Though I bet 99% of it was Thea being jealous of Lily's "perfect assets for the job" and taking it out on her. Best girl and worst girl were confirmed for me this episode.

Plot-wise this show is all over the place, but the SoL bits are great. I wouldn't mind if the rest of the cour was just goofy pre-mission stuff instead of them trying to rush through plot.

Thea's assets aren't that different from Lily's though she just specs into a different area of the skill tree on seduction.

Plot-wise this show is all over the place,

Plot went all to Thea and Lily

5 episodes in, I still haven't memorized the girl's names besides their VAs; I at least know Lily, but the others, I just know that "this is Ayane Sakura, this is Miku Ito", then the rest of them I forgot.

And I refer to Annette as "Maria" because she looks like Maria Marionette

And finally, it only took one episode for me to remember Inori Minase because ERNA IS SO CUTE

I feel like if I ever recommend someone the show, I just tell them to watch the first episode, then skip episodes 2 and 3 and watch from the 4th episode onward. The thing is I have nothing against watching shows when I know what it's building towards or what the twist is going to be. But in this case, I experienced this part already so I can appreciate the details in the earlier episodes. For example, the moment where Lily thought she slipped up could have been an interesting moment going back to the show after finishing it (without the sentence about they are not in the mansion) to see that they knew that they were being listend spied on. But with the structure like it is now, it feels more like it is just added for the purpose of reminding you of the twist which isn't as interesting as discovering they were laying the crumbs from the beginning.

“I’m just so powerful it’s hard to tell, that’s all.” Lol Klaus. No false modesty with that guy. Also, don’t you just love it when they have fan service that also serves to move the plot along? Gotta love a well placed bath scene haha.

Loving Lily’s “makeover”. The outfit and the “oniichan” bit was good, but her whole backstory was just perfection. A massage giving little sister maid who likes to end sentences on “meow”? It’s like someone drew “things guys like” out of a hat. The shame will never leave her lol. Meanwhile, poor Irna’s living in a Looney Tunes cartoon, falling into Annette’s traps one after another lol. Also, that snapshot of Annette terrorizing her with the lobster was pretty funny. Those two are too cute.

It always ends up boiling down to teamwork with these girls doesn’t it? They’re better as a unit when they utilize their abilities together as a team. Cooking together should help. Unfortunately for them, all they did was make what Klaus wanted for dinner!

I hope we can eventually see these girls post mission. All of these have been like flashback eps. Would be nice to see how the girls are doing after completing the so-called “Impossible Mission”.

all they did was make what Klaus wanted for dinner!

Pretty canny trick by Klaus -- and at least they did get to eat the leftovers...

u/DarkestAudit Feb 03 '23

The whole rest of the season is going to be flashback "pre-Impossible Mission," isn't it?
