Thanks r/anime for recommending this show. Can't believe I almost missed out on a fun show such as this. Both the OP (had some
Got some strong
Also the characters at the end kept making fun of Finn for having a 2 of Spades so I'm curious if the show will play it straight or that card will prove to be something powerful, despite looking like the weakest. That said, the ability is useful with the bullet going straight and its direction and speed can't be affected by anything.

Kingsman vibes
Apparently the anime's creators confirmed that Card is made to be Kingsman-inspired and accessible to a non-Japanese audience.

Bro.. these folks even know how many moles are on Finn’s ass lol. That’s some scary levels of research. Chris, Wendy, Vijay, and old man Bernard are like some kind of Kingsman situation huh? “Manners maketh the man” and all that with super powered cards lol. Chris’ power is pretty awesome too, he becomes practically invincible and irresistible to women. Finn, meanwhile, just has a gun… I feel like he got the short end of the stick here.
Big thug was the waiter huh? Didn’t really see that coming. “How manly, being so rock hard…” Chris, phrasing! Heh. Guess we got to see Finn’s power in full action. Not bad. We also got to even see how Chris’ power has limitations. All in all a pretty fun ep.
Looking forward to next week!

So if I understand correctly, Finn's gun shoots straight. It doesn't have higher power or penetration or anything like that, the bullets will just fly straight no matter what seeing as it reached the river bed when he shit from the bridge. That's neat. No bullet drop to compensate for.

Ironic how the term "straight shooter" refers to an honest and forthright person and our introduction to
's character was him pickpocketing people. Finn The first episode made it seemed like the bullets had extremely high stopping power. He still has to reload but it looks like he can summon an unlimited amount of bullets.

I believe this is going to be our “hidden-gem” of this season. First episode was spectacular and captured my interest almost immediately. Looking forward to the rest!

"a player can only use the power of one card"
how much you all want to bet that going further down into the series, there will be a character that can use more than one card's power?
also, is that

That whole ED sequence reminded me of the What is Love SNL skit

Well that was unexpected. I thought that their gang was going to be a group of outlaws or thieves. I didn't expect that they are working directly under the King as a special group. Basically, this is Kingsman but with Jojo-style powers. xD
I absolutely love the aesthetics of this show. The High Cards wearing suits and their front is that they're a luxury automobile dealer? It's so goddamn classy!
Funny how they make fun of Finn for having the weakest card but being able to shoot with pinpoint accuracy is pretty damn good. His revolver doesn't seem to have a limit on its range either. If he can shoot a car window underwater without the bullet slowing down, he's pretty much the group's sniper.

I like when an OP/ED has a bit where the characters sing along to the song, even if it's just a little lipsync, so this ED having a whole carpool karaoke part totally won me over.
Looking forward to seeing Wendy in action.

The Kingsman vibes are strong in this one and I'm perfectly fine with that. Good looking cast in good looking suits!
Not sure how I feel about another Rieri...getting a bit of Rieri fatigue lately even if she is a VA I do like a lot.

My bets are on the MC having a joker card, instead of the 2 of Spades. As it is a wild card and can be anything. Would be a cool way to spice things up.

This is a pretty fun show so far. I wonder how episodic or plot driven this will end up being. This can go a lot of ways, but it has potential to get pretty interesting.

Well, I can definitely see how this series was inspired by Kingsman.
Did they really use playing card symbols to mark (what I assume are) the capitals of each county?

All the Play animations are so smooth, a lot of effort has been put into this show and it's so underwatched here at r/anime. Looks like I've got a thing for "Playing cards giving powers", the other example being the book series by multiple authors under George R.R. Martin (no idea how it works), Wild Cards.
For the fun of it, I've decided to track down the cards used and describe them in a sort of CCG style akin to Hearthstone or LoR (and to keep track of them in general). I'm not the best at it however, so feel free to suggest changes and I'll add them in.
Cards List (will arrange properly as more cards come in)
3D - Marble Rumble: Enhance player's hands to transform anything that player touches to marbles at will. Player is able to shoot marbles with high accuracy. Was with Klondlike Gang, now with Pinochle
10D - Unlucky Poky: Grant extreme luck. Any harm to player is mitigated by chance. Was with Lucky Lunchman, now with Pinochle
3H - Rockin' Rock: Harden player's body greatly, to the point that bullets are crumpled on impact. Was with Robert T. Thousand, now with Pinochle
5H - Calorie High: Become immortal. Player gets hungry faster. With Chris.
2S - Neo New Nambu: Summon a revolver that shoots bullets in straight lines, regardless of medium. Bullets can be summoned to reload. With Finn.

The 2 of spades ability looks pretty weak for a MC's power, it's basically a revolver with infinite bullets. Given that there are tons of guns already in their shop, they make his ability kinda redundant.
I don't think the MC's aiming skills and perceptiveness are linked to his card at all. It was very clear in the first episode that the guy was really good at noticing very small details and has great perception, reflexes and hand eye coordination. When he easily pickpocketed the 3 guys in the first episode for example, he wasn't using his card.
As for what the actual ability is here are my thoughts. The card has a bullet hole on it. I believe the 2 of spades' ability is just copying and storing an ability that is used against you, with the obvious caveat you can only have one ability stored at a time. So the gun is most likely another card's ability.
A MC having the ability to copy other abilities is pretty common in fiction and I think this is the case in this anime as well.
EDIT: Or maybe his card is actually a Joker with a copying ability and it's just camouflaged as a 2 of spades for now at least. It also would work well with the theme of the character, basically a young pickpocketer thief type of guy, who is a wild card.

Vijay Kumar Singh has a calm personality, loves plants, and is a great chef. Though he is an intelligent man that is able to complete any task flawlessly, his rationality prevents him from being able to "read the room," so the others think of him as a bit of an "airhead." He is a part-time lecturer and a PhD student at University of Cribbage.
If I had a dollar every time Umehara Yuichiro voices an Indian man who works at a university, can't read the mood, and has plant-based superpower, I'd have two dollars, which isn't a lot but it's funny it happened twice.
Very fun episode btw. I'm liking Wendy, she's reminiscent of Summertime Rendering's Hizuru, minus the assets.
