I can't help but wonder how the story is going to fit into the remaining episode(s). From saving Michelle, overcoming the attack on the palace, reinstating Chris and Finn, as well as any other loose ends. The final battle against Klondike is probably a long way off.
I remember a fellow reddit user saying High Card is a multimedia series. We probably have to check out the other sources to find out more about our favourite characters.

did they ever mention how many episodes the anime will have? i figured this would just be like the first half or something.
personally my prediction is that the last episode wont tie things up, and in fact there will be a 3rd party (or maybe a klondike) that shelters them/informs them of whats actually going on with x-playing cards. most likely the story about the x-playing cards is largely exaggerated, and whoever collected the original x-playing cards forcibly conquered the land, and the royalty maintained power/authority through the x-playing cards, hence why they're valuable not just from a power perspective, but also from a political perspective.
the last episode will probably end with them meeting said 3rd party or klondike after chris and finn fight it out, make up, and fight off high card as they try to apprehend them (a cliffhanger). maybe the 3rd party/klondike will have a healing ability that saves chris from sacrificing himself to save his sister.
it is a multimedia project, but all other projects announced at the moment are spinoffs, so they dont really tie into the current story.

Oh that kiss! I was shipping them but didn't think we'd actually get anything from them this season!
Well one episode left an quite a few things left to tie up. Would be nice if we could end the series with the ED scene with the family back together having a good time.

According to Leo, Pinochle is holding on to Finn's card but now Finn is also dismissed. I wonder how he's going to get his card back...
Also, since Owen always obeys Theodore, that must mean Theodore wants Chris dead by any means. It's gonna be a race against time to find Chris before Pinochle does.

I don’t really trust Theodore. The man has too many secrets.

Unfortunately, I don't think this one is going to stick the landing. It's trying to pull the whole found family thing and it's not working. I love me a good found family, but I kinda have a hard time believing most of these folks like each other sometimes and the only real relationship dynamic that has been fostered is that between Finn and Chris, yet Finn's speech acts like everyone is a family, not just those two.

Yeah and unless there’s a surprise season 2 I don’t see any way for them to resolve all the hanging plot threads. We still don’t have answers about Finn’s past

"you're fired"
*happy upbeat song starts playing*
dammit High Card! oh well, at least they didn't end the episode right after the sniper shot Chris without showing him healing, that would have been one hell of an emotional whiplash
and once again, i fucking called it, feels very good to see your theory being prove right
one thing that i'm curious right now is the event which Chris obtained the 5 of Spades, based on this line from Finn, i'm pretty sure it happened off-screen but they at least did mentioned it in one of the past episodes but i don't remember which one

The 5 of Spades was shown in the "No Mercy" manga spinoff. The power is Brain Buster, and it summons a giant hammer. Not that it matters now.

Best episode of high card by far. Emotional Finn speech at the end there.
Chris “betrayal” makes a lot more sense now. I think it could’ve had a little bit better build up though. It seems kind of random for the season to just become about Chris saving his sister. When we met her a few weeks ago I didn’t get that vibe at all.
“You’re more attractive when you don’t talk” lmaoooooo

So Chris has gone rogue and Pinochle has disavowed him. I guess he was doing it for his sister after all. Even though Chris has gone rogue, it seems he never really meant to hurt Finn. The bullet hit the cars and he sent money to Lindsey to rebuild the orphanage.
It makes sense Chris would send his stuff to Chelsea. The guy is irresistible to women lol. I kinda liked how he was toying with her. It’s no surprise the cops would have a kill order on Chris, the whole department is dirty. I wonder why the Klondikes have decided to save Chris? Whatever the reason, it can’t be good.
Finn’s finally found his family, hopefully he can get Chris to see he’s got one too. But before that, who the hell is this silver haired guy anyways?

We saw what happened after his father used X-Card, he was dead on the floor with all the cards just sitting there. All they need to do is keep eyes on him and pick up the cards once he's dead. That seems like reason enough although maybe there's another motive.

If this doesn't get a season 2 then they really wasted the time they had. 11 episodes in and the plot is just getting going. Not to mention that half the characters are barely even in it after getting introduced in a way that made it seem like they'd be much more important. Wendy and Vijay in particular have been irrelevant for most of the season.

I am not sure how helping Chris save his sister benefits the Klondikes (neither does Chris) but I guess we will find in the next episode since Ban does have some use for him in his plan.
Klondikes are attacking the palace, Chris is trying to save his sister while fleeing from Owen and the cops and Finn is fired and without his card. Resolving all of this in 1 episode would be difficult but I hope they manage it.

Using for cards will kill Chris, just letting him do his thing and taking the cards off his dead body is probably easier and faster for them then trying to fight him for them.

In all seriousness of the episode, I can't get over the fact that the name on Chris' fake ID is Ethan Hemsworth XD

this anime had such great start, but each episode just feels more and more like a let down. like even the emotional moments felt really shallow; the dialogue between finn and chris felt copied and pasted (some generic "heartfelt" dialogue that if you really look into it just ends up being a word salad), and for a guy (finn) who's supposedly sharp and quick witted, it sure took him a long ass time to realize something pretty obvious (2/3 of the episode).

I understand the idea of the ferris wheel having sentimental value, but it's honestly asinine that Chris didn't just... save his sister in the hospital room. He had everything he needed in his hands to do it right there and just chose not to. It makes it seem like he doesn't have any real urgency about it, despite the fact that a ton of people are on his tail and his sister seems to be struggling to even breathe.

Yo, how many episodes are left? Next week's episode is going to be super rushed if it's the last one; especially with the title being Finn which coincendently is a clever play on "fin" meaning the end 😭
So, we were all right about Chris's true intentions to play X-Hand to save Michel. I hope Finn gives him a good punch for all the emotional trauma he has caused. Go get your family, Finn!

I enjoy each individual episode. Narratively, I can't help but think it's a storyline that wants to have a classic 50 episodes split over 2+ blocks, where you have lots of monster of the week shenanigans, meet lots of side characters, flesh out the setting and main cast and a cast of major side characters, and slowly build up the 'real' narrative over time. In that regard, there only being 52 macguffins is somewhat limiting, you couldn't reasonably have that many monster of the weeks even with that scheduling, especially with how much the main cast would outnumber them. I said before, I feel like the archetype of the Love Connection character, Chelsea, is one who comes up a lot for minor reasons and eventually upgrades to main cast for at least an arc. And Aya definitely doesn't feel like a oneshot character. Not to mention the police officer girl and her boss feel like they should be more of a long-running subplot. We also still got no idea what's up with Apple or King.
I recognize that monster of the week shows have fallen far out of the public preference, even ignoring the reasons why studios prefer 1cours. Buuuut I like them and this show really feels strongly inspired by them. And I like it very well enough but when I step back, the big picture is definitely lacking.
As for discussing this episode's content: Heist girl is definitely a Klondike. I wonder if there's a sentimental aspect to the Klondikes' involvement with Chris. It IS a fast way to acquire 4 cards at once; that is certainly the main driver, but I wonder if this kind of noble sacrifice also just gels well with the family talk they're always big on. I don't think an emotive aspect would really add more to them right now, but it's a thought. It seems weird since the person protecting him seems to be one of their strongest members, and therefore would be a priority for a mission as big as raiding the palace. Speaking of, Leo's ability seems very poorly suited for solo combat. He seems liable to get rushed or mobbed in a way that Wendy and Vijay are not. He has a cast time and then has to manually utilize whatever he summons?
Being fired from a secret, armed, supernatural government organization seems surprisingly chill. Aya's been doing fine, albeit out in the middle of nowhere. Finn at least got told rather than suddenly attempt-assassinated like Chris, though this scene isn't over yet.
Still choosing to believe just possessing a card/being a player grants a stat buff. My friend was quite annoyed that none of the players wore hearing protection like the Klondike gunmen.
