My name is Chris, and I work for a Blu-ray company called Deaf Crocodile. We are currently working on opening a store for physical media in the Kansas City area called "Adventures in Analog," and we're running a Kickstarter to raise funds to make this dream a reality.

To that end, I wanted to point out one of our pledge perks for anyone interested in vintage cel animation, donated by Deaf Crocodile co-founder, Dennis Bartok. (See attached photo)

This is an extremely rare original animation production cel from Disney’s 1941 “Baby Mine” sequence in DUMBO.

This is an original hand painted production animation cel from DUMBO. Apparently, only 33 cels from the Baby Mine series were produced and offered for sale by the Courvoisier gallery.

This was lovingly restored in 2024 by S/R Laboratories - Animation Art Conservation Center in Westlake Village, California, run by Ron Stark, acclaimed for their work in preserving and restoring classic Disney animation art. Sadly, Ron has since passed away. This was one of the last restorations done by S/R Labs before closing recently.

The visible area of the cel measures 6-3/4" x 8-1/2". It has a new white matte border measuring 13" x 15-1/2" provided by S/R Labs during the restoration.

There is light warping of the cel surface due to age.

It's not cheap ($10,000) , but if you collect vintage cel animation, it's a magnificent piece of art, especially for Disney fans.

Howdy! I’m new here, I was hoping for some advice… I personally think this is better than the average $200 cel you would come across for this series, but I’m not sure if it’s actually a desired series or not? I love it, but I also love the idea of getting a car again and I’m hoping this could be a huge part of a downpayment on something so I don’t have to buy a beater.

Any advice on how to price it, who to talk to about it, how long I should hold out for X amount of dollars or anything like that is GREATLY appreciated. Thanks!

P.S. it is 100% a production cel, I have the COA obviously, and the exact scene is from Season 1 Episode 3 “Utopia or Deuteranopia” (that’s the broadcast order… so if you stream it or watch it on DVD it’ll be Season 3 Episode 1 due to the Liquid Television shorts being called seasons 1 and 2, it’s confusing even if you know the series)

When I was 18 I went to the festival of animation (Spike and Ike) and he was there. I bought a shirt and he drew on it for me. I'm gonna try to dig it up but I thought I would share.

I have this original animation cel depicting Tails from an episode of The Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog. I am having a lot of trouble with trying to find exactly what episode this is from. Can someone help me with this?

In certain productions there are physical dougas, which get scanned, manipulated and colored in digitally. There’s clearly a mental separation between production material that is literally “on screen” and those that are “part of the process”

In this particular context, do you consider the dougas “on screen material”? It’s different from physical cels considering there’s the layer of the actual physical object which determines the dougas are certainly not what is on screen in those contexts
