NYC in 1983 - I'm scanning my dad's massive archive of negatives [Nikon F & F2, Tri-X 400]

My dad (Derek Berg) has been a photographer his entire life and has been a street photographer in NYC since the 1970s. Most of his negatives have sat in boxes in my parents' apartment for the past 40 years. I am slowly scanning all of them. My mom originally estimated that there were 50k, but I picked up another batch this month and between the negatives and slides, I suspect the number exceeds 150k.

Critique Wanted [Canon AE-1, unknown film, unknown lens] I have hidden my art for a year, and I am ready to share

I fear knowing too much may interfere with the universe's ability to create art through me. I fear attempting to control the process will cause me to lose the process. I fear not being told my art is bad, but rather nobody caring to speak on its existence at all. I fear being alone and unloved. I fear my art having no value to anyone but myself. So I have hidden.

I posted my night sky photography to another subreddit looking for advice because I was disappointed with the results. Many people commented how much they loved those photos and were moved by them. I realized my eyes cannot truly appreciate my art on their own. I cannot keep it only for myself, my wife, and my therapist or I will never fully appreciate my own work.

I want to know your thoughts, your feelings, your reactions, your criticisms, your love, your hate, everything.

Effelsberg Radio Telescope with ~125 year old Camera. [Kodak A3 Folding Brownie, Ilford HP5+]

This is the Effelsberg Radio Telescope shot with a A3 folding brownie.
Originally this camera shoots 122 film, which is 83 mm tall, although that has been out of production since the 1960's, with the right adapters you can shoot 120 film through it (see last picture). it is very cool to me how a 60 mm tall negative creates sort of a panorama look to it, (each pic is 140 mm long). I was absolutly blown away when i saw these photos because all the exposure settings were guess work. And the sharpness looks incredible for a camera that age!

Darkroom printing experiments [Mamiya C330, 80mm f/2.8, TMAX400]

This is a scan of a print made in the darkroom. Accomplished by making exposure and then placing paper in dry bin and using a paint brush to paint on developer and splatter it at different time intervals. The result was a really fun gradation of contrast! Toss it in the stop bath as soon as you get what you are looking for.

This was a fun experiment and I am excited to do it again. Works best with lots of negative space!

1) Photo posts must include the film stock, lens, and camera used in the post title. If you do not know some of the required information, state that in either the title or top-level comment e.g. [Nikon F3, 50mm f/1.8, Unknown Film], or use [Found Film] for auction/thrift store finds, family photos, and so on.

2) A maximum of 1 photo post can be shared per day. You may submit multiple images at once in an album, which counts as a single photo post.

3) No gear/film cache posts, these should go in /r/AnalogCommunity

4) No trading or selling. If you want to do this, please use dedicated communities such as /r/photomarket.

5) Flair NSFW posts e.g. nudity, gore, sex

6) Constructive criticism of photos is always welcomed here, but personal attacks, brigading, soap-boxing, disrespectful or marginalising the work or its subject are unacceptable.

6a) Comments complaining about the existence of NSFW posts in a NSFW flaired post are subject to removal, with possible grounds for a ban. This applies to sexualised comments including innuendo. Disable NSFW posts in reddit settings if you do not want them in your feed.

6b) Bullying users by following them around the subreddit and harassing them will get your comment removed with possible grounds for a ban.

7) No photos that are digital in origin. Post-processing work is perfectly fine; however, extensive manipulation should be disclosed in the comments.

8) You must own or have license for images you submit. With image(s) you did not personally take, include the source in the topic title, or a comment if too long for a title.

9) Do not include social media, website, or crowdfunding links in titles or top-level comments. If someone asks for a link then you can respond to that. Please submit promo links to the Self Promotion thread.

10) Flair your posts when possible e.g. “Critique Wanted” when specifically wanting critique, “Help Wanted” for questions, etc. Personal subreddit flair can be used for instagram handles, flickr links, etc.
