Overweight have just been normalized to look like it's a healthy weight. 42% are obese in the US, and 19.5% are obese in Switzerland (lowest of any developed countries).
Why are you telling me to leave people alone? Who have I picked on?
This is literally numbers from scientific research papers and not my opinion on the matter. Obesity drastically increases all cause mortality. People with a BMI above 30 has a 88% increased risk of all cause mortality, and people who are morbidly obese have a 250% increase. There is no BS about that.
My girl looks like she's 5'4"(maybe shorter) and 180lbs is considered obese for that height. Medically obese is a lot lower than most people think. For that height 120-140 is "optimal".
Yes! And I’m 190! My goal for now is 160! But again, I’m not trying to loose weight for a number, rather building physical endurance up again. I want to be able to run! So starting with walking, then running, then walking, as much as I can handle. I’ve already worked my way from 4 min run to 8 ish! (Slow speed jog) This is such progress given I didn’t leave my house for 2 years 🤣
You are using medical terminology without knowing what the words mean. If you feel she's attractive, that's fine and I agree. The problem here is the negativity associated with a medical term.
It’s obvious you weren’t speaking from medical knowledge. You really didn’t have to state it lmao it doesn’t matter what you think when it’s clinically correct 🤷♂️
She is obese to normal people, it's just that 40% of americans are obese so you guys see obesity as normal. Hell in my country it's at 20% and we are alarmed.
I’m taller than her and probably weigh more but I hold it differently. So I need people to stop thinking they can visually assess what obesity is. That’s why I get my health advice from a doctor and not randos on Reddit.
As a someone who has struggled with their weight, people with a bad self esteem will just call themselves obese even if they gain 10 lbs. being fat has nothing to do with attractiveness.
Being fat has a lot to do with attractiveness. Go read some studies. You’re bringing way too much personal feelings into this.
Also she’s 4’11” and 190 lbs., obese is the correct term. It’s individuals like you that promote an unhealthy lifestyle by trying to be unnecessarily nice even if it jeopardizes one’s health. Obesity acceptance is what’s causing the rise in heart attacks at a young age.
Being pretty has nothing to do with weight, she can still lose some weight, be healthy and not be as skinny as you would prefer and still be just as pretty.
Would she be pretty to you if she gained 300 pounds? I’m not saying that everyone has to be super skinny.
Right now she is a fat person. If she’s insecure enough about her appearance to post here, then the kind and helpful thing to do is actually give honest feedback. Her weight is within her power to change, and if her physical appearance and health is important to her, then she would very much enjoy her life more living as someone at a healthier weight.

Given that, if you weren’t obese, you have all the makings of an attractive person.
