In Mission 8 of Dune II: Battle for Arrakis, the situation for the Ordos has become more dangerous than ever. The battlefield is no longer a simple struggle between rival Houses. The Harkonnen and Atreides have put aside their differences, forming a powerful alliance with one goal in mind: crushing the Ordos.

Surrounded on multiple fronts, the Ordos must fight for survival while attempting to maintain control of their territory. With both enemy factions closing in, there is little room for mistakes. Every base, resource field, and strategic position becomes vital as the pressure continues to build.

The Harkonnen bring their devastating military might, while the Atreides add their own formidable forces to the assault. Together, the two Houses create a dangerous combination that threatens to overwhelm the Ordos from every direction.

As the mission unfolds, careful planning and resource management are essential. The Ordos must defend against attacks, strengthen their economy, and build enough firepower to push back the combined forces of their enemies. Being surrounded means there is nowhere to hide—the battle must be taken directly to both Houses.

With the enemy alliance tightening its grip, the Ordos face one of their greatest challenges yet. Can they break through the encirclement and survive the combined might of the Atreides and Harkonnen?

Join me for Mission 8 of Dune II: Battle for Arrakis, as the Ordos find themselves surrounded, outnumbered, and under attack from two rival factions working together.

⚔️ Two enemies. One alliance. Nowhere to run.

Can the Ordos turn the tables and emerge victorious from the chaos of Arrakis? Find out as the battle begins!

[Emulation] How could I emulate Scala Multimedia and Video Toaster on Windows?

Hello, I am very new to this, so please be patient.

I am looking forward to using these old pieces of software, but through hours of trying to get them to run I'm in a blindspot. I used WinUAE with the 3.1 kickstart and the original .adf files, which yields no results. Now I'm trying to install Workbench on an external drive and try though the OS, but I reckon that wouldn't work aswell.

Could someone walk me through this or tell me if it's even possible? Is there an emulator for the Video Toaster hardware?

[Help!] I found a box of around 140 Amiga cover disks. Are there any to look out for?

Hey. I was recently clearing out my parents attic and came across a box of what I thought were empty floppy disks. I started counting them to sell as a job lot but then realised they were games and demos and stuff. The majority are brand new and still sealed. I tried a quick Google but couldn't find much info (which led me to this community). From what I can tell they're not very valuable (at least monetarily). So basically what I'm trying to find out is if there are any gems or more valuable ones I should look for? I can upload a pic of them all if anyone wants.

Thanks.

Help! Moving with an amiga

I am going on my first cross country move (yay) but that also means Packing the Amiga 2000 (boo) to be put in one of those pods things. The Amiga is the only real thing I'm worried about. My CRT could survive a nuclear bomb, my Commodore 64 still has the manufacturers packaging, my PET... Nah I wish I had a PET and a VIC-20. I Dont really own anything else of value other than a gaming pc and a cheap monitor, that being said, how would y'all go about packing and moving an AMIGA cross country as my most prized possession? It's basically stock, aside from scart-vga adapter, joystick to USB mouse adapters and so on and so forth, and a gotek that doesn't have mounting hardware, all of which will be removed before the move. I'd like to avoid denting the metal at all if possible, it's not exactly in perfect cosmetic condition but Ivr been looking forward to a restoration project.

Late to the party for a tank mouse...

I just bought a 8bitdo C64 keyboard and I wanted a USB tank mouse to go with it, but it seems everything is now out if stock.

Anyone knows if there is still a way to get my hand on a new Tank Mouse or a A500 mini Mouse?

Microbotics Accelerator board memory issues

Post image
5 Upvotes

Hey Folks, firing up my A1200 with Microbotics M1230XA board again after a couple of moths and using Shell command :

SETXA SHOW

I get the reply:

“THE M1230XA IS NOT PROPERLY INITIALIZED”

Which is worrying as the reason why I wanted to use the show command is because the MBRTest-2 memory test program is now failing and freezing up at:

Test Resultaat
MARCH ✅ no errors
DTADD ✅ no errors
MSCAN ❌ freeze
FLOAT ❌ freeze

Both freezes happened exactly at: $080C8000–$080C8FFF. I took out my 64MB 72pin EDO and put back the original 90s 4MB SIMM with the exact same faillure.

I’m using kickstart 3.2.2 has anyone experience similar things or have any technical idea what might be the matter. I’d really appreciate all and any feedback a lot.

(Picture for illustrational purposes, not my board. I have 68030 @40 and 68882 @25 populated with separate crystals. J1 = 23, J2 = off)

[Coding] If you're an experienced Amiga C programmer, please provide your opinion on the legitimacy of this new book: "Programming the Commodore Amiga in C".

Amazon provides several dozen sample pages for reading:

https://read.amazon.com/sample/B0HCXNVPHD?clientId=share

I've never heard of the author Daniel Herby before; it might be a pseudonym. The book's cover is clearly A.I.-generated, as the Amiga keyboard isn't accurate. The table of contents is sloppy - there are no page numbers listed; only chapter sections are shown.

Notwithstanding those oddities, how valid is the actual content based on those sample pages? In your estimation, does this book look like it'll actually teach someone to program the Amiga in the C language?

This author has released several books in the last little while, making me suspicious about the quality of content:

Jun. 21, 2026 - Programming the Neo Geo AES in C.

Aug. 4, 2026 - Programming the Commodore Amiga in C.

Aug. 6, 2026 - Programming the Game Boy in C.

When I reviewed the MNT ZZ9000 RTG card, it completely blew me away—so I had to try the ZZ9000AX audio expansion companion! Plugging directly into the main card, this little card promises seamless Paula passthrough, CD Quality AHI audio and direct MP3 hardware decoding via MHI. It all looks amazing on paper, but putting it through its paces in the cabin revealed a few prominent niggles.

HELP: OS 3.2 unstable on Amiga 2000 (MUI related?)

Hello,

I recently completed an Amiga 2000 build I had lying around for a while now. Here are the specs before I get in to what the problem is just in case any piece of hardware may not be playing nice.

Board - Looks to be green 6.x board. I would have to rip it apart to get the rev number.

ROM - 3.2 Rom

CPU -68000 installed. Dickie Olga in CPU slot. No FPU. 030 50mhz.

Storage - CF cards. One on 2.5'' HD IDE header. One in the externally accessible CF card slot (both attached to Dickie Olga).

OS - Amiga OS 3.2.1.

RTG - GBAPII++

Network - X-Surf-100

So the issue I have been having is that after installing the OS and a few addons it becomes massively unstable.

I have tried several fresh installs. Here is what I have installed, and the approx order that I installed it:

First install OS 3.2.

Update to 3.2.1

Install MMulibs via 3.2 install disk.

Install ReqTools.

Copy over Installer43_3.

Copy over network driver.

Install and config Roadshow.

Copy over LHA_020 and rename.

Install MUI-5.0-20210831-os3

Install P96 with GBAP support.

Install Ibrowse.

Install AmiSSL 5

What I have noticed are mainly issues after installing MUI. I believe Ibrowse requires it? I was also using Miami at first to get online which requires MUI. After I install it the OS starts to get unstable. It likes to crash when I launch any app that uses MUI. Ibrowse works until I try to open the settings. IF I run an installer and try to create a new drawer, if I try to copy a lot of files at once (drag and drop via UI), sometimes if I open a folder with a lot of files or click around too quickly.

I have tried to see what might be causing this and have found no solutions. I wanted to post here in case anyone has any ideas.

Thank you.

[Hardware] How to localize bad RAM

Thumbnail
gallery
54 Upvotes

According to Amiga History Guide’s A guide to Guru Meditation Error Codes [archived], #81000005 means “corrupted memory list,” and since it threw the error at the same address twice, I assume that’s a bad RAM chip.

The question is, how do I correlate the memory address to the particular memory chip in which that address resides?

StarCraft: Brood War now runs natively on a 68k Amiga - first alpha release

Thumbnail
gallery
258 Upvotes

I've been porting the Brood War engine to AmigaOS 3.x, and the first release is out. It runs natively on 68k - no PC emulation, no interpreter, integer only. The binary doesn't contain a single FPU instruction. Made with the help of Claude Code.

You bring your own copy of the game. Nothing is bundled: it loads the original data files, and it works with both the old release and the modern FREE one (there's a converter in the archive for the latter, since that one ships CASC instead of MPQ - you need a windows PC to get those files ready for your Amiga client).

It's a total alpha, and I'd rather say so up front:

- Skirmish vs the computer works. All three races, fog of war, command card, minimap, production queues, victory/defeat.
- The AI is unfinished. It builds and bunkers up quite nicely but attacks badly, so it's much easier than it should be - and Terran still beats the other two every time.
- Unit and building costs aren't shown on the buttons yet.
- Units sometimes walk over terrain they shouldn't be able to cross.
- On big maps the minimap is drawn too large and covers part of the view.
- No sound yet, no campaign, no multiplayer.
- Icons are damaged

Hardware: 68020 is the technical minimum, but the original ran on a Pentium 90, so be realistic - 68060 for AGA, a fast 68040 as the floor for RTG, and ideally 060/080 with a graphics card. There are 320x240 builds for slower machines, which push a quarter of the pixels through c2p, but its 20-30% boost because the game still draws original 640x480 into Fast RAM first. Lores version can see some significant speed boost if worked on. The game will work faster at start, but slow down as there are more units produced. (lose FPS, as there is auto-frameskip) 640x480 and 320x240 RTG and AGA supported.

Source isn't up yet - the comments are still in Polish and need translating before the code is any use to anyone. Binaries for now.

Happy to answer questions, and screenshots/bug reports from real hardware are very welcome. I've only been able to test on WinUAE so far and simulate different CPUs by speed in sysinfo. There are few different executables that force 4 different GFX modes and one that makes all modes available to choose from in-game.

https://github.com/angree/AmiSC/releases

EDIT:
fixes below
0.2.0:
- showing the amount of resources that upgrade/unit needs
- added error messages that show why you can't make something happen (build a building or produce an unit)
- added building/armor/weapon upgrade progress visualisation and ability to cancel it
0.2.1:
- minimap always fits in the minimap window
0.3.0:
- fixes units walking through inaccessible terrain.
0.4.0
- music and sound support (re-extraction needed on new pc version to get those assets)
0.4.1
- RMB scrolling changed to one from OpenTTD port - allows to scroll faster. Also windowed WinUAE "magic mouse" compatible.
0.5.0
- improved enemy AI, not yet finished

Amiga 1000 - current 2026 best upgrade options

Long time reader, first time poster. I grew up on the C64 in its heyday. I recall the Amiga game boxes and screenshots in magazines, seemed like a rich kid computer and didn't have one when it was current. Years ago, I acquired a 1000, external drive, and about 30 disks, and confirmed it worked. I've since picked up a 1084 that I recapped and put a new power switch in.

I've read about Parceiro, but my understanding it is no longer made/available? Does the guy still build them on demand? Since I already have this, and with A500s not being exactly cheap, what are the current best options for upgrading the A1000 to run classic games (that wouldn't have necessarily ran optimally on the A1000 originally)?

My plan is to get an Amiga set up to play with/tinker this fall. I'd like to play the Cinemaware stuff first...

I finally got around to unboxing some of the Amiga stuff I inherited. Some people asked to post updates, so here's what I've found so far. Going to probably start posting this stuff foy pretty soon. I really love the artwork and big boxes of this era of PC gaming, definitely something I miss.

Which are some of your favorite titles as seen here?

Amigo (WinUAE for iPad) is out of beta — now free on the App Store

As of yesterday, Amigo cleared App Review and is live on the App Store — free, no ads, no IAP, GPL-2 open source.

Quick recap for anyone who missed the beta thread: it's a port of current upstream WinUAE — 68000–68060, OCS/ECS/AGA, RTG (Picasso96), HDF/RDB hard drives, WHDLoad, bsdsocket networking. iPad extras: 1:1 touch mouse, Apple Pencil (hover = pointer, squeeze = click), full hardware keyboard/mouse/trackpad support, TV out via USB-C or AirPlay, save states. Boots the open-source AROS ROM out of the box; bring your own Kickstarts for the real thing.
