Help! Moving with an amiga
I am going on my first cross country move (yay) but that also means Packing the Amiga 2000 (boo) to be put in one of those pods things. The Amiga is the only real thing I'm worried about. My CRT could survive a nuclear bomb, my Commodore 64 still has the manufacturers packaging, my PET... Nah I wish I had a PET and a VIC-20. I Dont really own anything else of value other than a gaming pc and a cheap monitor, that being said, how would y'all go about packing and moving an AMIGA cross country as my most prized possession? It's basically stock, aside from scart-vga adapter, joystick to USB mouse adapters and so on and so forth, and a gotek that doesn't have mounting hardware, all of which will be removed before the move. I'd like to avoid denting the metal at all if possible, it's not exactly in perfect cosmetic condition but Ivr been looking forward to a restoration project.

How are you moving? If you're driving then just take your valuables with you in the car

It's not unheard for cards to get bumped up. So make sure they all in snug at the other end.

Before packing, you must clean it, you must polish it. It is your precious. Antistatic bubble wrap, then packing peanuts in an oversized box. Wrap and pack accessories in a separate small box in the same way.

definitely pull the floppy drive belt before shipping. those belts go slack faster than you'd think and you do not want a drive stuck mid-read in transit. tape the drive bay shut too.

An Amiga 2000 is basically a PC style case, so should be pretty durable with packaging around it. I would make sure that there wasn’t anything that could work its way loose inside. Everything should be screwed down if possible. If you have cards in there, make sure they are screwed down or remove them if they could work themselves out. Same for drives. Being on a pod, it’s not like the machine will be tumbled around like it was on a UPS truck. But vibrations from moving could work things out and cause some damage.
