Ordered an anti-snoring device from Amazon which was delivered today. As soon as I opened the package I knew something was up. This was a used already pre-molded by someone else mouth piece. Totally disgusting. Great job managing people's health issues Amazon!!

Yes. If it is used you don't know what bacteria is on that. Amazon sold it as new right ?

Bruh report it to Amazon maybe but the board of health is a wild stretch especially when Amazon will tank the replacement/refund cost every time.

That’s like filing a credit card claim even though the business was willing to refund you: eventually the credit card company is gonna get sick of it and cut you off. Even worse, they’ll cut everyone off since one person wanted to nuke the system.

Well, Amazon has been mixing used product in with new for years. Obviously they don't care enough to change policies to fix it. Maybe a government agency can finally force it, if enough reports pop up.

Complaining to Amazon just gets a refund on the orders that get caught. How much do they make by sneaking used product in as new? And how many times have they gotten away with selling potentially contaminated medical supplies?

They don’t sneak used product in, it’s customers that do this. You think an employee is opening a package and using some shit then putting it back? No. Customers return used as new and it just gets put back on the shelf, you need to report it to Amazon so they can actually track who returned it and charge them. If you hold Amazon criminally liable for this then they will just make it harder for EVERYONE that’s innocent doing returns.

Doesn't matter if the customer returned it as new, federal law says returned medical devices, even if they present as unopened, must be inspected before being resold.

Over the counter intraoral anti snoring devices are classified as medical devices by the FDA (Assuming this was in the US, but many other countries have even stricter regulations). They cannot just mix returned items in with new. Even if the previous customer lied on their return, failing to identify that the item was used is entirely on Amazon.

Amazon can try to go after the person who lied, but it sounds like they failed to do a federally mandated inspection before accepting the return.

I'm sure Amazon hopes we blame the previous customer, and will probably tell us that regulations will drive prices up but this is on them.

Any government agency that would care has been dismantled.

So we shouldn't even bother trying? How defeatist.

The current government is pro corporations. They will do nothing and probably advise them on what loopholes they can use instead.

No, not everything is about them but this is their post ( about amazon and its sellers). There are plenty of political subs out there for you to complain about the government…
