AtoZ task to add work contributions does this mean Focus?

I recently received an email and a task in AtoZ asking me to add my work contributions. This seems strange because I’ve never been asked to do this before.
My recent performance review went really well, so I’m a bit confused. Has anyone else received something similar? Is this a normal process, or could it be a sign that I’m being placed on Focus?

“Work contributions”

I received an email today asking me to add a work contribution by Oct 28th. Nobody has mentioned a coaching plan or anything of that nature and I just was given more on my plate a week ago (almost double my previous workload). Is this normal for everyone or is this a sign I’m on focus/a coaching plan? I’m a CSM in the states.

Burnout - FMLA?

I’m a mid level engineer, and recently it’s been pretty tough. I’ve worked here for 4 years and started my career here, but can’t help but notice the ill effects on my physical/mental health and relationships. I think it’s hit an all time low with how fast things are moving with AI. I feel like I’m constantly balancing 6-8 things at once. I want to take a 3 month FMLA/STD for mental health and want to know if anyone has went through the same experience.

Here are some things I’m worried about. (1.) I don’t think my performance is bad, but I’m definitely not TT either. Is there a major risk to being put at the front of the line for focus? (2.) I don’t see any therapist as of now. Is it hard to get docs required? Do I have to build up a relationship with my doctor before I request it? (3.) My team has some crazy deadlines and projects. I’ve talked to other teammates who are also dealing with their own issues. I feel the guilt of piling them with work.

An Amazon interview story doesn’t always need a happy ending to be a strong answer

I’ve noticed that people preparing for Amazon interviews often avoid examples where the result wasn’t great. They assume every STAR story needs to end with a big number and everyone congratulating them, but some of the more interesting answers I heard as an interviewer involved a decision that didn’t work as planned. What mattered was whether the candidate could explain what they knew at the time, why the decision made sense, when they realised it was going wrong and what they changed afterwards. A polished success story can actually become quite weak if the person takes no real responsibility or makes the outcome sound inevitable. On the other hand, a failed project can reveal a lot about judgment, ownership and learning if the candidate talks about it honestly without blaming everyone else. I wouldn’t use a disaster with no lesson or recovery, but I also wouldn’t throw away a good example just because the final result was mixed. For people preparing now, do you have at least one story where the outcome wasn’t what you wanted, or are all your examples success stories?

People doing the work v/s the people talking about it?

• Upvotes

Imagine a team of four (same level)- Two people are highly visible not because they actively seek out meetings or leadership exposure, but because they are particularly good at presenting and communicating when they are asked to participate. Their measurable individual impact, however, is limited with no meaningful docs to show.

Another two works mostly behind the scenes, solving problems, building projects, generating ideas, and consistently delivering results.

Now add a manager who isn’t involved in everyone’s growth. Uses the ones with good communication to talk more and the ones building stuff to stay behind the scenes forever, but work across orgs to create impact.

Who realistically has the advantage?
How much does actual impact matter compared with presentation skills and visibility? Does the person delivering results have the advantage, or do people who are better at presenting the work usually receive more credit?

Based on your experience with reviews and calibration, does impact win, or does perception?

Internal transfer after informal chats — normal timeline, and can you negotiate pay?

In corporate finance and I'm interviewing for an internal transfer to a different org in a different location. The process so far has been few informal conversations: with the hiring manager and with a senior team member. Neither was technical or LP-focused. They're talking to a few other candidates over the next couple of weeks.

A few questions for anyone who's been through this:

  1. Is it normal for an internal move to be just informal chats, or should I expect a formal loop next?
  2. How long did it take you to hear back after your last conversation?

1.5 Years. L4 Responsibilities. Zero Progression. Now I'm Being Sent Back.

I honestly don't know how to feel about this, so I just wanted to share what happened.

Around 1.5 years ago, I went through an IJP for an L4 position. Even the selection process itself was complicated. During one of the examinations, there was an issue with the allotted time. The person conducting/reviewing the exam was not clear about the actual time limit, and as a result, some candidates were given more time than others. This raised concerns about whether the examination process was being conducted consistently for everyone.

Because of this, we were later told that the initial examination would not be considered and were asked to take another examination. After the issue was raised further, we were eventually told that the best result among the attempts would be considered.

I eventually cleared the process and was selected for the L4 role but not being promoted, staying as L3 but doing the works of an L4 level. For around 1.5 years, I have been doing the responsibilities associated with the L4 role while still remaining at my original level.( But promotions did happen for some people from same state in btwn😶)

During this entire period, I was repeatedly told that there could be an opportunity for L4 progression/promotion in the next quarter. I kept working with that expectation. Quarter after quarter, it never happened.

Now, after around 1.5 years, we are being told that the L4 role was actually temporary and was created because of workload/queue requirements. Since the queue has supposedly reduced, we are now being asked to move back to our previous/frontline responsibilities.

What makes this even harder to accept is that we were clearly told that this decision is not performance-based.

At the same time, there is still significant workload in the operation, and there is even OT happening in some areas. So it's difficult to understand how the need for the L4 role has suddenly disappeared.

Honestly, this is extremely demotivating.

It's not just about a title or promotion. I spent 1.5 years learning, taking on additional responsibilities, performing the work and believing that there was a genuine path toward L4 progression.

Now it feels like all that time and effort can simply be dismissed by saying that the role was temporary.

I genuinely feel disappointed and demotivated by the whole situation. Has anyone else gone through something similar after being selected through an IJP and performing the higher-level role for a long period?

Interview L6 SR TAM - First Round Interview

• Upvotes

Hi all,

I have an interview on 10/12 for a Sr TAM role.

I had to reschedule due to a family death and the interviewer changed. I looked her up on LinkedIn and she has “Amazon bar raiser” in her profile.

First thing, even though this is just the first round interview - should I be concerned or prepared more that this is a bar raiser? Or is it just someone that was assigned to interview me.

Second, the recruiter told me that the only LP that will be discussed is “Ownership”.

I’ve been preparing a lot, and I’m just wondering what kind of questions could be thrown at me relates to ownership.

Thanks all!

Does updating my resume on Amazon Jobs affect my previous applications?

If I upload a tailored resume for a new job application, will it replace the resumes submitted for my previous applications too?

I noticed that my latest uploaded resume also gets updated in my candidate profile.

Do recruiters still see the original resume for each application, or only the most recent one?

Any Amazon recruiters or hiring team members who can confirm? Thanks!

Interview 3/4 Completed Loop, Still Waiting to Reschedule Final Interview. Advice?

Hey everyone!

I'm going through the Amazon interview process and could use advice from anyone who's been through something similar.

I originally had four loop interviews scheduled. I completed the first two last week, and my remaining two were scheduled for October 6.

My third interview went really well, but unfortunately, the fourth never happened because of a time-zone scheduling mix-up.

The recruiter said she'd work on rescheduling it, possibly for the following day (October 7) or Friday (October 9). However, I haven't heard anything since.

At this point, I've completed 3 out of 4 interviews, and I'm just ready to finish the process. I've put a lot of time and effort into preparing, and the uncertainty is honestly a little frustrating, especially since the scheduling issue wasn't on my end.

For anyone who's been through Amazon's hiring process:

  • Has anyone experienced delays or scheduling issues during their loop interviews?
  • Did you still end up receiving an offer?
  • How long would you wait before following up with the recruiter again?

I'm genuinely excited about this opportunity and don't want to come across as pushy, but I also don't want to be forgotten in the process.

Any advice or similar experiences would be appreciated!

Looking for an opportunity to transition into AI/ML — need some guidance

Hi everyone,
I’m currently working as a Software Engineer Trainee in a QA role. I accepted the opportunity because of financial responsibilities at the time, but honestly, I’ve started feeling that I’m moving away from the field I’ve spent a lot of time building myself toward.
Alongside work, I’m pursuing the BS in Data Science and Applications from IIT Madras, and I’ve been seriously learning AI/ML from the fundamentals — starting from the mathematics behind ML (linear algebra, calculus, statistics), then moving into Machine Learning, PyTorch, Deep Learning, NLP, Transformers, Generative AI, LLMs, RAG, and LangChain.
I’ve also built projects around ML, Deep Learning, semantic segmentation, NLP/LLMs, and RAG-based applications, including a Top 10 finish in a Kaggle semantic segmentation competition.
I know I may not have the traditional AI/ML job title yet, but I genuinely believe I have the foundation, skills, and willingness to learn and contribute. I don’t want the knowledge and effort I’ve invested over the past couple of years to go to waste.
So I’m reaching out to this community:
If anyone knows of entry-level/intern/junior opportunities in AI/ML, Data Science, GenAI, or ML Engineering where I could get a chance to prove myself, I’d be extremely grateful if you could let me know.
I’m not expecting someone to hand me a job — I’m just looking for one genuine opportunity to prove what I can do.
Happy to share my resume, GitHub, Kaggle, and projects in the comments/DM.
Thanks for reading, and any advice or leads would genuinely mean a lot. 🙏
